This song was only a classic in whatever timeline converged with ours. This song did not exist when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. At some point, two time lines converged.
Nah just the 70's and 80's emerging tech with a strong analog/ organic base.... That's why... Can't happen again unless we make leap and bounds again while leaving things behind.

I was in the USAF, stationed on a very remote site in eastern Turkey. Went TDY to Incirlik Air Base & at night we would go to the NCO club. Dance Hall Days was playing and I fell in love with the music instantly. At 63, this is STILL one of my favorite songs. Thank you, WangChung! You made a bitter year much more tolerable with your music.
Those first notes are truly iconic... there's a burst of joy, of a summer breeze, telling us (at least for a few seconds) that "life is good, let's just enjoy it"
I've always loved Wang Chung, but I don't know what it is specifically about this song that the moment I hear the first notes of the song, I'm immediately feeling in a good place.

Dominic Perez , sure. The 80’s was a time for me, that was nostalgic and Golden. Everything was new and exciting. It seemed like a simpler time. The music was raw, the movies were exciting and everyone wasn’t so sensitive. It was a simpler time. We didn’t have to be politically correct and lie. We were honest. We told jokes, and laughed at each other. We grew up as a nation with shows like, family ties, threes company, who’s the boss and taxi. We saw the Tv turn off at midnight. We grew up with no cellphones and playing bikes outside. We grew up listen to great music by Phil Collins, George Michael, Michael Jackson and Prince. We never worried about stuff, we just lived life. GOD bless.
I was born in the 80s. I binge-watched Miami Vice for the first time in my life a couple of weeks ago. Since then I can't stop listening to the songs from the 80s. So many catchy songs. So much energy and life. I think I might be addicted at this point.
My English teacher in high school put together a video for the seniors of the Class of ‘85 (my class) and this was the theme song of that video. This song always makes me think of high school, life in the 80’s, and the great head of hair I once had.

Loved this in the 80's and now my 19 year old son listens to these 80's bands 30 years later 😂. We were the cool ones 1st time round long live the 80's 😂

Soft power. That's how I would describe this song. Has aged better than a lot of new wave/new romantic material. One of the best songs I have ever heard!

What makes the 80s so memorable is songs like this as they were uplifting ,positive and had an air of fun. You don't get this now as there is too much doom and gloom and complexity coupled with too many rules.

My squad did a cheerleading routine to this in the 80s. I heard it every day, for two hours a day, as we rehearsed it and I hated it for the longest time! It's only recently that I've been able to listen to it again, and feel that happy nostalgia!!
