This is, indeed, an extraordinary discourse. Now, I realize that some people are upset; and naturally so because of the sensitive nature of the incident. Without going into needless theorizing, I will simply state that Javed Ghamdi Saheb has merely tried to develop an academic framework for analysing the Karbala incident. Hopefully, this can provide the underpinnings for resolving some major differences within the Ummah. Mind you, towards the end Ghamdi Sb does acknowledge that he is not trying to justify who was on the path of 'haq' and who wasn't. Of course, Imam Hussain (AS) was on 'haq.' While his caravan approached Kufa, he was advised by acquaintances not to proceed further since the people of Kufa had retracted from their allegiance. Had the Imam been incited by the 'politics' he would have surely receded. But, being the grandson of the Holy Prophet, he preferred the option of martyrdom. The 'heroes of Karbala' will survive till eternity. YAZEED, on the other hand, will be cursed forever. Unfortunately, Mawia (RA) will fall on the wrong side of history!

Hassan sb, Few questions hopefully you can raise them in the next session. Treaty between Hassan R.A & Muawiyah R.A stipulated that Muawiah will not appoint an heir after him and decision should go to (for lack of a better word) a council. Ghamidi sb kept re-iterating there wasn’t a succession process in place had that been in place outcome would have been different. 1- There was a succession process and that succession process elected Ali R.A. 2- Muwayiah R.A. rebelled and refused to accept legitimate orders from an elected. Ghamidi sb also didn’t mention RasulAllah’s prophecy about death of Ammar bin Yasser. Just a final note -It seems that Ghamidi sb thinks (based on where he left the conversation) what happened to Hussain R.A was called for (since he rebelled in-front of an authority that prevailed through sword) my question here is if you don’t see a problem with Muawiya R.A rebellion, why don’t you apply the same spectrum Hussain R.A? Did Muawiyah/Yazeed not violate the treaty they made with Hassan R.A? Also this seems like a very week argument since other empires around that time had a hereditary Monarchy system it was okay for Muawiyah R.A. to opt for the same system. Shouldn’t the Sahabi of his stature be the first to introduce a system based on Quran, rather then going completely opposite of it? Wasn’t his decision in direct contradiction of a Quranic order? No question about effectiveness of Umayyad dynasty and it’s capabilities, but it’s still tainted with blood of Hussain R.A. (same way U.S gave the world a lot of things, but it doesn’t excuse the fact with it did to Native Americans and early blacks) If being ruthless is what Ghamidi sb consider effective, then perhaps we should stop condemning China too. I have learned so much from Ghamidi sb, and I wouldn’t be lying if I said that he practically brought me back when I almost left Islam. But the argument he provided for his opinion isn’t up to his on stature. I really hope you can raise these questions to him and hopefully he can respond to these in the next session

Yes, from a political point of view as ghamidi sb said to consider ground realities, the analysis made it clears so many things. Keeping our religeous attachments and pre assumptions aside if we look at it historically we may not get distracted. I personally feel digging deep into the matter debating who was on haq or on batil, it will keep us divided.

Though i am an admirer of Maulana Ishaq and Engineer Ali Mirza, one can easily take a guess how much we people are pissed when some gives commendations to Muwaiyah and his son. Let’s suppose we agree with Ghamdi Sb’s analysis for a minute, the very great people who were able to conquer half the world including Qaiser E Qisra, they couldn’t come up with democratic system and transfer of power system. The election of Hazrat Uthman was the perfect example of democratic system of that time. I agree with sword analogy but Unfortunately this analysis partially lacks intellectuality. اختلاف ۔۔۔کھلا اختلاف ۔۔ میں کوئی شیعہ نہیں پہلی بات ۔۔۔ معاویہ جو فتح مکہ کے موقع پر ایمان لائے۔۔۔اس نے حضرت علی کرم اللہ وجہہ جو سیف اللہ اور فاتح خیبر تھے۔۔ اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے داماد تھے، معاویہ کیوں علی کرم اللہ وجہہ کے حق میں دستبردار نہ ہوا؟۔۔۔۔ چلو وہ قابض ہو ا تو بعد میں جب اسے پتہ تھا کہ کیسا اس کا بیٹا تھا ۔۔نا اہل تو کیوں تخت پر بٹھا گیا۔؟۔۔ کیوں کئ صحابہ کو قتل کروانے کا باعث بنا۔۔؟۔ کیوں منافقین کو اپنی فوج میں داخل کیا؟ سوری وہ سفیان کا بیٹا تھا اور سفیان امیر مکہ تھا اور آنحضرت صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے فتح مکہ کے موقع سے ہی سرداری چھن جانے پر خائف تھا اور سازشیں کرنے والوں میں شامل تھا اور مجبوراً اسلام قبول کیا۔۔۔۔ اور ہاں قرآن میں 29 پارے میں آیات بھی ہیں ""ایے محمد(صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) ، ان مشرکوں کو کیا ہو گیا ہے جو آپ کی طرف گھیرا ڈال رہے ہیں کہ مال غنیمت حاصل کریں ۔۔کیا ان میں سے ہر شخص یہ سمجھتا ہے کہ نعمت کے باغ میں داخل کیا جائے گا۔۔ہرگز نہیں ۔۔۔یہ اولین ایمان والوں کے برابر نہیں اور نہ ہی ایمان ان کے دلوں میں داخل ہوا ہے ۔۔۔"" لہذا کسی صورت امیر معاویہ اور اس کی اولاد خلافت کے قابل نہیں تھی۔ اور اس کی نسل دراصل ایسا دستور یا روایت بننے میں رکاوٹ بنی۔۔۔۔اس کی نسل میں ایمان نہیں تھا۔۔۔

آج کا فیصلہیعنی آپ کی ھجرت کا واقعہ آنے والے زمانے کے مفکرین کی نظر میں بہترین اور اعلی سیاست اور تلوار کا فیصلہ قرار پائے گی ۔

Agar jang e uhad mein kuffar jeet jate to yh bhai sahab unke sath khade rahte k talwar ne faisla kr diya. Magar chunk rasool jeet gaye to ab unke saath hain. Yani haq, batil, sahi ghalat in k nazdeek kuch nahin. Jo tareekh mein fateh hoga yh unke saath honge. Doosra sawall uthta hai k kya Islam ilahi mazhab nahin hai? Kya Islam mukkamal deen nahin hai? Dono ka jawab hai "ilahi deen hai aur Mukammal bhi hai to phir Islam mein iqtedar ki muntaqli ka Jo usool pesh kiya gaya kya woh qabil aml kyun nahin tha in ki nazar mein ? Yh sahab kah rahe hain k nahin tha. To kya yh sahab Islam ko adhoora aur aibdaar system man rahe hain? Agar nahin to jinhone is ilahi nezam ko disturb karne k liye talwar uthai yh unke supporter hain. Yhahi mantaqui nateeja hai. I strongly disagree with his analysis.

Essentially the peaceful transfer of power ended with the four caliphs. Though Hz Ali (ra) accepted it very very reluctantly .Muawia made a political decision, not a religious one. Ghamdi sb commented on his political acumen and rule was established on the basis of sword and order was restored. Though it did not live up to the principle described in the Quran but what was the other option? Continuous warfare? One reason Imam Hassan went with it maybe. Maybe that was the most earliest test for the ummah! From Ummayads to the Ottomans, they were all empires and any commonality with the original riyasat e Medinah faded with time.

Janab Ghamidy Saheb is absolutely right. We have to keep emotions at bay while going through HISTORY.

With my deep regard for Ghamidi saheb and respect, even awe, about his scholarship, I see this episode as a very weak link in his otherwise excellent work on Islam. It seems like logic of convenience. In all matters, Ghamidi saheb advocates the path set by Quran and the hidayat of Rasool e Pak s.a.w.. And very rightly so. But he seems very comfortable by keeping aside the Quranic injunction here and supporting an eclectic approach to a significant issue of succession in Khilafat. While such an approach could work in succession of kings and emperors and that’s what all Ghamidi saheb has to say. All examples and analogies he gives are of kingdoms. But here it’s not a kingdom or a king. It’s the Ummah and the Khalifa. Wouldn’t we Muslims be better off with the family of the Prophet saw in the chair of Khilafat. Couldn’t a member of the Prophet’s family have provided 1200 years of growth of Islamic geography...I appeal to the listeners of Ghamidi saheb to judge him on the basis of logic and rationality exactly as he does in all matters. This episode goes down as negative in my assessment. I would of course continue to watch Ghamidi saheb’s other videos and would always look forward to his brilliant expositions.
