They are fun rules to play for sure. I think you missed a massive thing out about these rules that I really love about them. You become more free with your list building as well, not having to take certain units to do certain secondaries really free's you up to make more fun thematic lists, Nice share mate and keep rocking it :D
That's a really good point that I hadn't even considered Nick! Probably because I never really built a list around the missions anyway! Like I said, the official missions, just aren't me, so I have never really focused my army on them. The response to this video fills me with so much joy. Not for the praise or views, but to see that so many out there are embracing what has been missing from the game for the last few editions. That there is a MASSIVE audience out there who reaally aren't being catered for by the majority of RU-vidrs and content creators in general. It's not just GW that created this void. But the communities focus on a gaming style that was never intended for the game originally. I have hope for the future that the silent majority will speak up more and that we can all get back to playing easy going games built around fluffy lists and fun and imaginative scenarios and stories. 💚
Underground 40K, create your own missions and my play group leaves out rules from GW that are from a marketing perspective (detachments) push people to buy more and do not make a better game! We build what lists we want and then apply stratagems, rather than building lists to fit a detachment.
Thanks William. No great feat of genius game design or anything. But simple fun rules that make for a fun relaxed gaming session. Hopefully you have fun trying them out in your next game. 😊
@@6Stevo i have been around since the old rogue trader days, seen a ton of stuff come and go. Always enjoyed the simpler rules.. thank you for your videos
Awesome, awesome video and ideas here, Bossman. Fully agree with you on the book-keeping issue..... Some games recently (and especially back in 9th) have felt like an absolute slog to get through. I'd say using the rules you mentioned here + a 44" x 30" map + 500 Pts per army is an ideal way to get into the game 👍
Great vid mate, always nice hearing about how others approach games. I've got the perfect thing for that Fog of War deployment, it's from IKEA & clamps onto a table, you'd easily be able to drape a curtain over it
I've visited Chichester a couple of times, you're very fortunate. Beautiful town, I've had a few right adventures there. I hope it's kept some of it's character and no become a tourist hellhole like my home town.
We get a lot of tourists as it is a cathedral city with lots of history. The Theatre brings a lot of famous people here too. I was born and raised here. 🙂
Brilliant video! It’s funny that I’ve arrived at the same conclusion at around the same time… my friends and I have begun playing more narratively by scrapping the as secondaries, making special objectives, and building narrative lists that aren’t tailored toward scoring. It’s made the game go much more enjoyable. Would love more of these ideas! For of War deployment is a thing!!
Great idea Stevo. I find the secondary missions make the game more complicated and take away the fun. makes creating army lists dull too. I wanna have cool models fight each other in glorious combat. your rules do that! well done. I'm definitely trying this out
Great ideas. My group does a similar things with the main objectives then only play with 1 secondary. We are just as focused on the beer and bbq as the game. I feel like you're way of doing secondaries may cause issues in my group as one of the lads runs either custodes or knights
No worries! Just change it up to suit. You could have points for taking out vehicles or even do points for units that survive. You can make the rules up on the fly before the game. Just agree with your opponent prior to the game and have fun. It frees up so much time not having to consult the GW users guide every five minutes during a game!
As someone who wants to get into 40k but is put off by the more sweaty tournament "My dice vs your dice" rules, this appeals to me much more. Win or lose, I'm not really bothered. I'd just prefer something a little more narrative. Even little things like objectives that affect the next game in some way would be great.
I'm all for simplifying the wonkiness out of the game, but I rather do like action based objectives. They really fit certain factions; how often do we read about Guardsmen holding the line while an Inquisitor enacts their plan, or something similar? I think a longer list of suggestions for how to design your own mission objectives would be quite helpful to point people towards to get them on the same page.
The waac mentality has been pandered too enough I think. I’m all for it. As a mid life gamer who has been to tourneys I’d be more than happy to play you on your channel with a fully painted nid or marine army one day Steve O. Most folk don’t play like the frothers. Keep up the good work brother…
If offered. would you accept a job in the Nottingham Games Workshop rules writing team or would you give it a miss ? taking everything into account i.e. moving up there to Nottingham etc
