@@csagdyic9918 The original games had no scramble turns, but also the enemy usually had higher sight range than you and could shoot you from where you couldn't see them.

@@csagdyic9918 OG Xcom did not have a scramble turn. As you advance, you can gain a clear shot at an enemy, even one that has also seen you (though they often get the first shot off). I am not a fan of scramble turns.

scramble turns are some of the worst additions to gaming, a very poor solution to writing bad defensive ai.

Not only the faces, but the general animation in the cinematics I find quite subpar. The animation in the game is pretty good though, but those cinematics are really wooden.

YUP! unfortunately if you vote with your wallet in this case GW will think its a bad concept/game and write it off even though its just the publisher thats a POS. Honestly people need to contact GW and just say hey dont use this publisher or you'll lose sales.

In which case GW and Frontier are a perfect match. Both are money-grabbing, anti-consumerist corporate entities who somehow manage to treat their employees worse than their customers. F them both. I'll get this on pirate copy when it is available.

@@musingartisan it's a single player game with tons of content in it. Only thing that might bother some people is Denuvo but it doesn't impact me that much. Devs did good job here and they deserve to get paid. So far DLC isn't needed for anything. It's just extra named character that you really don't need.

To the OP, if you get it off GoG, it runs pretty well... just save often because it can crash @@BolinFoto the original Chaos Gate was on par with the original X-COM. Getting special upgrades for searching the whole map, upgrading soldiers that level. Earning that terminator armor. The original chaos Gate was pretty darn good. Final Liberation was nearly a like for like remake of the "Epic 40k" tabletop game, so it was a different style of game (though still pretty good like you said)

@@Fletcher109 It's software embedded in the program's code that encrypts the executable and makes periodic checks to see if the software is genuine. Due to some developers being rather heavy handed with its implementation, there have been instances of it causing performance problems (because they had it make checks too often). This invasive DRM, as far as I know, was created by the people that gave us SecureROM, which was universally hated DRM. Companies implement this kind of invasive DRM to appease investors. DRM pretty much only hurts legitimate customers. Those that pirate cracked software don't have to deal with the software dialing home or hogging CPU cycles. Time and time again, it's been proven that if you make a good product, people will fall over each other to pay for it. Witcher 3 has NO DRM. Cyberpunk, which had an atrocious launch, still had NO DRM (meaning any disgruntled person could just copy it and play rather than paying) and did really well. Even Indie games, like Stardew Valley have shown that if you make a good product, you don't have to penalise your paying customers. Really, it comes down to the big publishers making a stand. They'd rather EVERYONE was inconvenienced in order to limit a few people that might be trying to play their games without paying. So, they punish the majority to try and inconvenience the minority. Which doesn't really work... as I said before, pirated copies don't have to put up with the inconvenience.

Gretchin are a good source of laughs. Once saw a retreating Grot shoot down a land speeder that was on an objective in 2nd edition. It was exactly within the 12" range. He needed 7+ to hit (6+ followed by a 4+) and hit. The only hit location that could possibly bring it down (Orks had to to draw) was the driver by rolling a 6 on the hit table. He hit the driver. He again needed 7+ to wound with his pea shoota. He wounded. The Space Marine failed its 2+ armour save. The gunner failed its 4+ roll to take over the controls. Everyone who was watching started cheering thinking the Orks had pulled back a draw from the jaws of defeat. But no, the Land speeder still had to crash somewhere. The scatter die pointed towards the nearby Space Marines contesting the objective. The explosion killed 5 marines and took the final wound from the Librarian there. The whole gaming club erupted into chaos as now Orks simply won the game outright. 2nd edition was sooooo good, especially with a little tweaking.

Imperial guard does need some love... Should we propose a soulslike were you play as a guardsman and everytime you die you play with another? I also kinda need to scratch the tactical shooter itch i got from mass effect so maybe that would fit the role? Playing as a unit of imperial guardsman instead of a single dude. With your choices and deaths changing a world battlefield in favor or against the imperium like a Dark heresy intro i once saw were your characters (guardsmen all) died like flies before the campaign ended on that world and the inquisition murders everyone except the PCs who will now work for the inquisition in the actual campaign. Even a looter/shooter with eldar mc would be a welcome change

Hopefully Darktide will scratch the itch we all have to play as Imperial Guard
