all ima say is the game is amazing...*cough *cough only *cough *cough campaign *cough *cough i know of so far sooo dont worry =) its so fun and thats campaign it made me buy the gold edition for sweet baby jesus sakes so dont worry brother Edit: I also cough cough think operation missions after the campaigns done are even better than the campaign itself… and super difficult but you level up your operations marine with better equipment and so forth. In order to do harder difficulties of the operations. And When I say hoards I mean hoardes of enemies in those operations. I’ve never played the game tho cough cough.
Please be GOTY quality. Please be GOTY quality. Please be GOTY quality. Edited verdict: GOTY quality, likely a contender, but not winning compared to Wukong, Astro Bot, and some other upcoming games. Keywords... quality... contender... some of you got upset over your own reading comprehension.
To fill in some of the lore: 4 space marines wouldn't be anywhere near enough to stop a Tyranid invasion. Devastation of Baal showed that thousands of hardened veterans weren't enough and they only survived because a fleet came to save them. Speaking or Baal, Dante is around 1,500 years old and there's a book that references a Heresy era marine that lived for even longer, but barely and tortuously. The service studs in Titus' forehead represent 100 years of service, so he's over 400 years old
@@kylerogers7633yes but 4 space marines powered by White Claw drinking teenagers filled with angst and learned to parry from Dark souls? these are warriors
@@kylerogers7633well, you’re not wrong about Baal and 4 Marines stopping an invasion. Regarding Titus though, you are. He was 175yrs old during the first game and this game takes place 100yrs later, so he would be more or less 275yrs old. Now gold service studs for Ultramarines used to represent 50yrs each, so in the first game he had 2 meaning he served his Chapter for 100yrs, now he has 4 so it’s safe to say he served now for 200yrs. That said, there’s 75yrs unaccounted for and I know for sure he wasn’t recruited into the Ultramarines at 75yrs old 😂 The lore on these are inconsistent and vary by Chapter and tradition and are optional. My guess is Titus only likes getting them every 50yrs.
fun fact: the "every soldier has a life expentancy of 15 hours" is actually a misconception, it was used in a single location, for a specific war, on a specific planet. It's not something widely applicable
the most shocking fact about w40k lore that i learn this year is that in some places in the emperium people have a wife children and they have sex, for fun. I always thought that it was some induced sexless civilization protocol, I would never tought that they create family in the emperium.
The only thing to worry about is the performance on console and the state of the servers on launch. Besides those two potential problems, this could be GOTY.
Digital foundry already got their hands on it and said it performed fantastically, only a few dropped frames during its most crazy moments. And VRR is working so if you have a higher end tv you’ll never see a single one of them
Yeah the only way that's possible is with like a ridiculously high infant mortality rate.. Like 99.9% high... And while that's not completely out of the question, I feel like it would have been mentioned in one of the hundreds of books or something.
You are right that is was a specific deployment but like nice said it helps the tone of the setting but you also gotta remember it is canon that billions of people die in the Imperium each day with no real impact so the scale is wacky. I also want to point out it was 15 hours for new guardsman iirc but I could be wrong there.
@@shifusensei6442 fun fact: the misconception of fifteen hours being the life expectancy of a guardsman comes from one of the hundreds of books titled "Fifteen Hours"
There is already many reviews on the game since they released it to a bunch of RU-vidrs 2 weeks ago. There's only 2 missions and 1 mid part campaign but still. Every single vid I've watched (its been a lot lol) have all said positive things, the only negative is what he already covered here. Its a pre-order/day one purchase for me for sure.
@@jk6956 I've heard the same that it has been received very well by Warhammer fans and normies just getting into the universe. I won't preorder but I will definitely get it day one or within that week of release. I have Black Myth Wukong to keep me entertained for the time being
Same here. I usually wait for a week or so before purchasing to allow for patches and bugs to be ironed out and to read a few reviews just to make sure it isn't really bad. Mediocre I can deal with but "bad" can KMA.
"Apparently space Marines live a really long time." Uh ya those 4 studs on Titus' forehead means he's been exterminating xenos and demons for at least 200 years

Okay to start off I got my hands on game early as you might say (no spoilers). Basically the game feels well polished and i suspect no major bugs will be seen. And gameplay wise the character feels heavy/fast at the same time. Gunplay is also enjoyable and mele weapons are a thing of beaty. It is literally all you expected in first game BUT BETTER. So i leave you to it
@@ArnovonDargen OH no I really dont know about that. But would be neat to have it on game pass. But I think its new game and really anticipated so I doubt they will put it in there. Later on yes but at launch is doubtable because they would like to make as much money as they can I think.
@@ArnovonDargen Darktide is on game pass, but I doubt we will be seeing this game on there for a long time, doesnt feel like the strategy they are going for
Why does everyone complain about games not being next gen, but the second a company releases their PC requirements, everyone cries that they are too steep and will prevent people from playing. Upgrade your shit!
That’s such a bizzare take. Obviously some people can’t afford to upgrade and want newer games to run on their pcs while others want to have the most advanced different graphics out there. It’s on game developers to try their best to accommodate the best of both worlds, have graphics settings be in depth enough for a vast variety of rigs be able to play it while still looking really good on higher end rigs.
@@Hazy4944 I get where you're coming from. I sort of disagree. I've been broke and financially stable at multiple points in my life. I think that game developers should be free to cater to whatever market they want. If they want their game to only be able to run on the next gen (console or pc) then that's their choice. No matter what decision they make, they will end up disappointing one side of the spectrum. But yeah, not being able to play a game because you don't have the specs sucks.
@@butcherofblaviken8427 It kinda has to. Lore-wise the Ultramarines already had a second company captain (Sicarius during the first game), so making him a lieutenant works better.

@@cubiczircon3122 Not buying a game right as it launches and waiting for people to realize if it is a bug infested mess shows much more of a spine than buying it right away blindly lol
@@cubiczircon3122it's pretty dumb to spend 70$ on something without having the full information on it, also what if it has a bunch of glitches and needs to be worked on? Like Cyberpunk 2077, best to just wait for these things.
hate to hear it when people perpetuate the "the average guardsmen will only live 15 hours" myth. I mean I did I perpetuate that myth for like a couple months yes so I am one to talk. it's only on a specific world were guardsmen have around a 15 hour life expectancy. but the myth does give you a good idea of how terribly the imperium is run. my favorite fact is that some guardsmen are taught they are stronger than orks.
@@soulripper3836 seeing as pretty much any world they go to there is or will be war and the wars fought in the 40k universe are so massive and the weapons used so terrible I’d gather that any planet they go to their life expectancy is short as fuck, the enemy they fight is probably the biggest factor in how long they can expect to survive
15 hours on an active front line. Average. Not too far fetched. Makes me think of the Blackadder episode where they called WW1 fighter pilots 5 minuters. The WW1 experience would be a great way to look at it. Can live for months in the treches, but when stuff heats up the average lifespan being 15 hours makes sense. Lots die in the intial attack, others survive the entire encounter. Then it's back to waiting until the next assault.
Penance wasn't the reason, my guy was MIA for at least 100 years and you can't leave a Captaincy spot vacant for 100 years. Gotta fill it with somebody.
@mad_max21 I wouldn't say that dude lol Titus was literally exposed in the warp and came out perfectly fine, considering Titus and Leandros had just had problems with a Psyker who appeared human and was actually possessed the entire time like 2 hours before that I don't blame him for being cautious.
@RasAlXander Funny enough, in-lore at the time of Space Marine's release (and also the in-universe time period), Cato Sicarius was the captain of Ultramadines 2nd company, not Titus. He only got busted down to Lieutenant because A: 2nd company has a new captain due to Sicarius having gone missing himself for a while and B: the Lieutenant rank only now exists within the ranks of Primaris, and C: Titus can't be captain anymore lol
This! It’s so annoying that commentators who should at least do some research keep saying this ! Warhammer has been around for 40 years. Inspiring star craft and gears
In this video you make it sound like the 3 player coop is only for the expeditions and not for the story based campaign, but multiple other sites have claimed it is for both
@@Blkstang82 It's still happening. The rumors of it getting canceled are unsubstantiated, and GW themselves only last week said they're still very much working on it.
@@Primee133 No its still up in the air as its still in the planning stage and the "cancelling" thats talked about is for the deadline for a production contract which they still havent acquired.
Decided to start Darktide once I got bitten by the 40k bug. Also Chaosbane (it was 5 bucks and worth it even if it’s basic) but Darktide blew me away. Funner than left 4 dead and really unique and challenging
I love parries, especially ones that open up new combos you cannot pull otherwise. They also make the game more engaging. Each enemy has a distinct rhythm, forcing you to be more aware of your surroundings. I hope this game will include various parrying modes and finishing moves.
Great video, but when you were talking about how we are gettin Thousand Sons chaos marines you showed a screenshot of a Khornate Berserker. I hate to "Umm actually" but yeah. That screen shot shows a Worldeater (Khorne), a Deathguard (Nurgle), and a Black Legion (Choas Undivided) chaos marines but no Thousand Sons marine. I hope you're right though it'd be cool to see some chaos space wizards from the Thousand Sons this time around.
If you go back and watch the Gameplay Overview trailer, you can see a "quick match" option for the Operations mode. So there is matchmaking, idk where you heard there wouldn't be matchmaking for that mode
I'm going to enjoy this game way more than I did wukong but with the records wukong is breaking right now brother its probably not gonna be space marine

Welcome my guy, I don't play the board game but have played most of the actual games and have gone balls deep into the lore. If you ever get bored I highly recommend it because the lore is INNNN-FUCKING-SANE lol
Been playing 40k since 05 and absolutely loved the first space marine one of my favorite 360 games ever. I cannot wait for this, and as the ordo xeno says, "suffer not the xeno to live"
15:50 ultra settings with pc that is barely above what is in the Ps5/series X at 60fps so if you drop it to console settings you should be well above that
I hope its great. My only gripe so far is the limitation on class selection. If all three players want to play the tank we should all be allowed to play the tank.
Bellisarius Cawl will be pleased to hear that I just got myself a brand new PC a few weeks ago, blessed and everything. In September we march for Macragge, battle brothers!
@@RafaelCabreraAzraelhe always sounds like that tbf, Jake is a much better narrator. He doesn’t sit with a thesaurus in front of him to sound more sophisticated 😂
Just an FYI for those new to the setting, these space marines on display here are actually upgraded versions of the original types of spacemarines now known as primaris. Primaris marines have to go through a process know as "crossing the Rubicon" (staying in theme with the Roman style of a lot of the major faction) that is an INCREDIBLY deadly and risky procedure to upgrade them into primaris from a regular marine. Primaris was GW's answer to trying to get the marines more in line with their lore in which when a planet is in danger, they drop maybe 5 marines into battle and they sweep the battle into almost guaranteed victory. It's cool to see them bringing the full might of the space marines into the fold to really have that power trip. So far at least visually the game looks amazing, can't wait to play it!
This will be my introduction to the Warhammer universe. I've been listening to the Remembrancer, other 40k podcasts and Googling lore about the different Astartes Chapters to prepare for this game. I'm super pumped.
So far, theres only 2 downsides to the game: 1) Its not out yet 2) Chaos customisation is locked. Cant customize them. (you can give em different colours but they are class-locked and no customisation beyond that)
@stoops187 We have Night Lords, but the issue I have with this is that it is locked to classes, and heretic astartes is only in PvP. We've been waiting for a sequel for 13 years, the game was pushed back an entire year and nobody at Saber or GW thought to add PvE Heretic missions in Operations for those who truly don't give a damn about PvP.
Think it’ll be hard to beat how well Wukong is doing, but this looks like it may be my personal GOTY. Something about the horde shooter genre mixes so well with the space marine combat
All the classes can use different weapons that share progression with other classes. Multiplayer shares progression with co-op. All weapons have perks trees and levels to gain to change fire rate etc. basically there’s a lot to progress in.
Even if you don't technically NEED to play the first game, I'd still recommend watching a lore primer or something. KrakDuk has a pretty good summary of the story for Space Marine 1. There's some stuff with Titus and Leandros that would probably be worth knowing going in.
If you guys are seriously not going to buy the game due to the lack of 60 fps, you're a bunch of morons. Go ahead, insult me, make fun of me, tell me I'm wrong, I don't care. Don'tet something small like that hold you back from enjoying the game
it's still obviously got bugs and unfinished features. Go watch Legacy Gaming's videos on it, they talk about some of the bugs and missing things in the preview build.
@@kylorendud2927 I'm Not talking about bugs or the game itself. I'm talking about the charging more money to play the game on the actual release date. Yes they are playing a preview build, but that has nothing to do with the base version of the game NOT having the 4 day early access to the game.
Wwz is my favorite game in recent memory. It blew my mind when I first played it. When I saw Saber was making another game I was so pumped. I promise everyone this game is going to rock. Wwz 2 but Warhammer skin. I’m in
In the tabletop, no space marines are made of paper but in the lore this seems very accurate to how strong they are. 3 should be more than enough if they're like a specialist squad and the focus.
I really liked the first game back then and I loved the multiplayer. Ever since they announced SM2, I kept my fingers crossed for it to be just as satisfying 🤞
Secondary comment; Chaos Cultists ARE confirmed. And, to make it even better, they look a lot like the Cult of Admonition from Tertium with a lil colourswap from sickly yellow to magicked cyan. Like, one of the models looks JUST like a Dreg shooter from Darktide. Which some might call lazy but personally, I think its great. ..now i want a crossover between SM2 and Darktide
AMAZING video, very well put together and has me hype! One note I'd like to make on the early access thing with the gold edition, you do also get the Season Pass as well, giving you access to (unconfirmed from some digging on Reddit) the first year of cosmetic DLC as well, which is about $30 anyways. That will obviously be announced later how much the pass will actually cost, but I think that's an important distinction to make that you aren't just paying $30 to play the game 4 days early. :)
I think the main concern with pvp multiplayer is that, in the first one, weapon perks that were usable in the horde mode that was coop were locked entirely behind playing pvp. I personally think that cosmetics and mechanics that are not limited in their use to the pvp mode should absolutely not be tied to pvp so that you dont alienate a part of your playerbase that does not want to pvp and keep them from using things they want to be able to use.
So, for a while now, maybe even a few years, I still enjoy gaming, but I’ve felt maybe a little underwhelmed and haven’t quite got that excitement for new titles I used to get. That, and, although I’ve known of the Warhammer brand and franchise for years, I’ve never really been into it. Which is why I find it weird that given those two points, for whatever reason, this one single game has had me with the excitement of a kid at Christmas since I first heard about it. It just looks like everything I want from a game. So hopeful 🤞
Can't wait to play this! I loved the original! Couldn't care less about the DLC stuff. A great thing about being born in the 80's...Not trained to spend money for no reason. This game is going to be a blast!
The customization in this game is gonna be no joke, from one of their first gameplay trailers i slowed it down to ocunt how many Space Marine Chspters we'll have access too (outside of the free range painting) and its over 30 space marine chapters and all of the chaos heretic legions. The amount of player diversity is gonns be so bad ass in this game its no joke. I can't wait
