2 Things I would change on the first turn there Legend is 1: Raise dead in all 3 of the regions that Heinrich starts next to and you can get a 19/20 stack right off the bat. 2: On the thrid raise dead you do on turn 1 (in your home city region) recruit the necromancers then and you get 2 level 4 necro's right off the bat. Not ripping on your guide. it's solid. but those dwarves will never have grudge throwers and you can wipe Artois out by turn 4 by doing the above and the Dwarves can be dead by turn 8.

Great guide, loving these! Want to point out that going for Lamia awakening as first kiss to get a Lamia lord out asap is a good approach, since at level 10 they get a skill that improves agent success chance by 50% while in same region. So can easily get your assassin agents to have 80-100% chance to kill enemy agents for easy and quick blood kiss farm cheese.

One minor comment on this: Kemmler's ability lets you recruit L4 Necromancers at game start if you move him back into his home province. If you bring him home and wait until turn 3, Artois will almost always move their army stack to Gisereux . Since Gisereux is not walled you can crush the entire army in a field battle and then take Castle Artois with almost no resistance on turn 4. I've found that biding your time until T3 to move out with a large stack and 2 L4 Necromancers makes for a far stronger start than attacking on turn 1.

Much appreciated. I was looking at the Barrow Legion's location while doing my (usual) Empire playing and I had the thought, "What in the world would I do if I was playing in that location...?" I read a few online resources, but frankly, there's not that much on it, so it's great to hear the Legend himself chime in.

I know you've just done Malekith, but with the DLC coming out any chance of a 20 turns Lokhir? Start is pain, Lustria is Lustria, I'm curious how you'd go about handling it.

If you ever do one of these again, I'd love to see the Empire Start.

I've played a crap ton of Barrow Legion recently, and I have an opposing strategy somewhat that works great for me. Expand early on, especially eliminating Artois and taking that province, and securing your own. If you can't do that, you're gonna get bogged down somewhat after that 20 turn mark. Obviously, take on Artois in any way you seem fit. Blob or not, just make sure to raise a full stack of undead, then fight those two fights manually. If you're lucky, you can destroy Artois in like 2 or 3 turns. After the 2nd or 3rd turn, hire a general and send him over to Krung Zint, cause that settlment gets fucked over. Orcs take it from Marianburg, Empire takes it, or maybe Bretonia take it, or sometimes even Marianburg takes it back. You have to snipe it from whoever fucks up the orcs occupying Krung Zint, cause what the AI does is raze it, then resettle it the next turn like idiots instead of just occupying it. Once you've snipped it, you can then raise a 2nd army with that second general and send him back to take over Karak Zifin ASAP. Who cares if you go into the red for economy for this, just so long as you take over it quickly. By around this time, is when they usualy go and attack Montfort and are weakened anyway. Don't be afraid of the dwarves if they have a full healthy stack sitting in that one settlement, you should be fine if you have two stacks of undead against it. Even if you loose one army, in the assault, so long as you win, it'll be worth it cause you'll have two full provinces under your banner by then. Then, once you research free skeles, then you can go on and raise more armies to take on anything south of Artois, West of Montfort, and North of that once Orcish settlement directly south of your capital. Similarly, I've had it several times where the Emperor Karl himself will travel west past the forts and do the same thing to that giant orcish settlement that they did to Krung Zint, which could be your chance to snipe it from them too. The reason why I don't know a lot about late game as Barrow Legion is cause fuck those wood elves. 6 stacks of skeles gets utterly rekt by a single stack of wood elves, defending a single settlement. If I don't make friends with Skaven and keep them alive, then I don't know how to handle wood elves as undead in campaign.

I love how in SFO the stats have changed tar pit units into proper tar pits such that skeletons are more like a low tier infantry unit and zombies are pure tarpit, able to absorb huge amounts of damage! 220 models with 22000 hp. Instead of free skeletons you get zombies down to 10 upkeep. It takes even reiksguard ages to plow through them all, and being able to summon them anywhere is fantastic. The mod also does similar stuff with the skavenslaves, they are proper tar pits! Skeletons and Clanrats have similar roles as low tier infantry as they can actually do damage.

Please do High Queen Kalida. Her start is to hard with Kro'gar to the south and vampire corruption devastating your public order.

It's funny because in the tabletop there are what are called "tar pits" which are basically exactly what he's doing. They truly adapted it for this game.

Finally a comment about raise dead. If I remember necromancer heroes + awakened battle field + necromancer lord = free raise dead. To add raise dead scales with your highest tier settlement means you'll begin to see tier 5 units after 5-10 turns after upgrading your first tier 5 settlement.

Aw pity this didn't go live 2 weeks ago. I actually played a roleplay campaign using only Strigoi Ghoul King lords and Strigoi bloodline legendary lords, with heavy focus on ghouls and crypt horrors. Also no vampires allowed - no vampire lords, no heroes, no Blood Knights. I had a good start, took Artois out instantly, then Karak Ziflin, then Marienburg. But soon after that, the Empire declared war on me and exhausted my armies and coffers, and then Bretonnia jumped on me and they double teamed me down. I will give it a second shot after watching this, it inspired a few ideas.

Mr Blobby of Total War! Turn 1 mistake with the Necro's, shouldve waited for HK to be in province for +2 lvls but good guide elsewise. When mass recruiting free skellies, use a Necro general. Should be able to add +4 experience levels to them too. +6 if you finish rounding out the last couple skills in that first chain. Makes a big difference to their staying power for the rest of the campaign Edit; The -10% construction costs bonus does stack. Worth having an 'Engineer Corp' with a few for late game. They can run around and turn 15,000 priced tier 5 buildings into dirt cheap.

Reason I watch LoTW instead of other WH2 streamers: Other streamers: "Oh look, the enemy has sent over Fabiola Everstone to increase their chances of defending my attack on this settlement." LoTW: "They actually brought this bitch over here."

He is correct if you spend time strengthening kemmler he can potentially be best vampire faction if you suddenly snipe empire and empire is gone for the whole game. wight kings are bad on horse but very good on foot more so with some help from vampires magic. Technically wight kings can have close to 1k weapon damage during skill burst but only roughly 300 is armor piercing in short they're dependent to vampire heroes to debuff armor ,krell on other hand is armor piercing.

Would love to see a lizard men 20 turn guide. Perhaps Mazdamundi or Tehenhauin.

Would it have been preferable to wait until end of Turn 1 to recruit the two Necromancers? Heinrich has an effect where Necromancers recruited in same province start with +2 levels, so you could get WoD online a bit faster.
