Timing! that aside, let's talk about the wood elves and how they defend their shrubbery. Consider supporting me on Patreon! www.patreon.com/user?u=3863342 / archwarhammer Intro by Henrik Sigeman
The End Times says yes! .... therefore, no. *ahem* Also, the vampiric "curse" was specifically created to alter humans, not any other races. You could try cursing them, but results are going to be... unreliable at best. This is in addition to an elf having no reason to become a vampire the way a human would; a human finds vampiricism tempting because it would make them living conduit of magic power with a theoretically endless lifespan. These are things an elf already has, leaving them with only the downsides of vampiricism to gain.
It is mentioned in the Lahmian lore that Neferata has spies in Ulthuan, Nagarroth and the Dwarf holds, so I believe that non-humans can become vampires.
Just to touch on the Wild Hunt a bit more. Basically every year, regardless of whether there are invaders in the forest or not, the Wild Hunt happens. Orion's mere presence causes everyone nearby him to go into a berserk kill frenzy. Every elf, treekin, horse, bears, even the squirrels will descend into a murder frenzy which Orion basically just controls the direction of. They lash out at anything caught in their path, even each other. And the thing is, most of them know this crazy shit will go down and they still sign up for it. Even the elf nobles volunteer for this shit, happily, like it's the dam Superbowl and show up in fancy dress knowing they will likely have to charge across the entire forest and fight angry wolves and bears and shit. This annual celebration is basically the wood elves version of Christmas. Unlike the up themselves High Elves, the wood elves keep to themselves, but will do whatever it takes to get the job done. Even in the teaser trailer we see an elf lord, a powerful political figure in his lands, willing to sacrifice his very life to bring Orion, their demigod king to life for just 1 year. Got to give them some respect for that. I sure as hell couldn't see little old Hilary having that level of devotion :P.
On another, note. A little something that I would like to add to that. They go around slaughtering humans, I wouldn't be surprised if the Elves actually took the human carcasses back to their homes to roast the meat for dinner.
''I wouldn't be surprised if the Elves actually took the human carcasses back to their homes to roast the meat for dinner.'' Fun fact: They actually do that. Thats why I find Warhammer wood elves the creepiest of all elves. I mean you already expect Dark Elves to be dark and scary, but something like wood elves be this brutal? damn.
Agreed the Wood Elves were one of the races I wanted to play right away but ended up playing a campaign with Leoncor because I love the lore behind the Brets with the chivarly and Arthurian legend similarities plus in my opinion are one of the best looking factions in the game. But im playing through the wood elves campaign Mortal Empires right now, I never played through the story campaign in Warhammer 1 is it pretty cool? I dont even remember what it was called.
So CA decides to put in Wild Hunt. What's next? Dark Elves, Murder Night, 100% meter allyourbasebelongtous. Skaven, Internal Conflict, 100 % get rekt. Ogre Kingdoms, Feed the Giant Maw, 100% get rekt Gnoblars. Lizardmen, Sloan Awakening, 100% Old World Destroying Monsoon (new End Times, do I get an Emmy?).
Have you thought of doing a playthrough of Crusader Kings 2? You could do the Warhammer Geheimnisnacht mod for it and it is represents the Warhammer fantasy universe rather well in the grand strategy game genre. Also keep making videos in general, they are some of the best quality History, Lore, and even your videos about politics. You deserve way more subscribers.
"A fair elven maiden shalt not let anyone to her shrubbery until she comes of age, which is 500 years from the last time she let someone to her shrubbery" Arch Chronicles Apocrypha, Volume XXVI, page 14, line 40.
Arch, the Lorraine were tractors not tank. 47mm SA 47 cannons were mounted on some of them to create tank destroyers but they saw limited use. Hotchkiss (H35), Renault(B1 bis, R35, R39...) and FCM (Forges et Chantier de la Mediterranee)( FCM 36) were the one building tanks. The Lorraine was later used by the German who converted them into SPG with 150mm and 105 mm guns and Tank destroyers like the Marder 1.
Well I'm looking forward to mounted Legolas's shooting up the place & rampaging half naked Celtic Elf chicks with spears charging at various thing, in particular big hairy monsters & owning the shit out of them, all the while a hailstorm of arrow lands on the enemies heads! :D
Yes a second episode. Wuuhuuu! But you missed one point why the forest is save. You know there is this regional occupation thing, so the other races simply dont bother ^^
Another good point for the wild hunt, it not only usually does it destroys the enemy but tends to kill off a lot of the participants of the wild hunt as well.
Would say that most people would struggle to hit a target even 30 meters away, let alone a target moving through a thick forest that's 300 meters away. The other problem also is that bows tend to have allot more arching than guns, so you would have to do some serious compensation in terms of tilting the damn thing to account for the slower speed of the projectile (and the faster drop-off in speed). When you account for that, it makes shooting a bow at any longer distance than a stones throw several magnitudes harder (a distance that's often considered the more extreme end range of most bows, if they can even reach that far).
the german "Auftragtaktik" was actually in use since atleast the 19th Century iirc and in WWII: iircs the different officers (or even normal soldiers? i dont remember right now) were all trained as officers normaly 2 ranks above to take leadership if necessary (e.g. death of commanding officers)
Hey Arch. Loved your Warhammer Fanatasy lore videos since you've uploaded them. Personally, what I am missing in your new lore videos is the soft music in the background. Also, you spoke in a more friendly, calm way.
You'll be covering the Dark Eldar next (!) | That's a harsh way of putting them...Greenpeace Elves is probably a better way of putting it. | 16:50 - What they're after is either valuable or drinkable.
The land of the wood elfs, were going green is mandatory and were the trees are so fucking hostile that even the wood elfs whose national pass time is tree hugging, keep on their toes
nice vocabulary... if you want to make the second part of this video i suggest that you mention a story about manipulating ogres because it brings whole new level of dealing with intruders
I would love to hear the lore on dwarves, hopefully with precise estimates and calculations of total acreage withing the mountains and the impact thereof on the population.
Rokiriko indeed CA is adding new mechanics to the wood elves! some of their archers can shoot while retiring (like cavalry), and some others are able to shoot from the forest wiithout being spotted
Carlos caballeromoreno But you still have to do a "battle" where if you retreat (which elves would do after harassing) is counted as a loss and you have no control of your retreating army.
I turn on arch's lore videos and listen to them while i play like mordheim or total war and his amazing voice soothes my rage at the RNG gods making me miss a 95% hit rate -_-*
What about the Skaven with their Warpfire gear? Also, if GW had built upon the theory that Sigmar was in fact a lost Primarch and that the world of WH Fantasy existed in the 40K universe and the Imperium came to claim it, how much fun do you think the Wood Elves would have had if the Emperor sent the Salamanders to deal with Athel Loren? >]:3
warp. fire. warp.... fire... something about that name says to me that its fueled by warp stone. wich dosent work in the magical forest of buttfuckery and arrows galore.
Arch will you be doing will you be doing a video on Dark Eldar at any point in the near future since they are the only major faction other than space marines you haven't covered, speaking of space marines have you decided how your going to cover them, will it likely be a single video outlining the general shared basics followed a mini series focused on specific chapters? A possible random idea that could tie into another topic is perhaps one week do a video about a specific primarch and then the following week do a video about his chapter.
Hold up. There's one thing I didn't get. What exactly is stopping the enemy from just setting the forest on fire? You know, you don't go in, you just sit at the edge of the forest and keep lighting fires. Worst case scenario, all the elves and forest beasties crawl out and try to kill your ass, but out in the open, outside the forest, they lose quite a few of their advantages. Or just use griffons or wyverns or some shit to carpet bomb the dirty hippies.
For one the Wild Hunt does not draw a line at the border. The Wild Hunt is basically a tsunami of carnage that, assuming there at no foes in the forest that year, will just rampage past the borders and slaughter outlying Bretonnia peasant villages. If someone is thick enough to try and bombard the forest from the outside even when the wild hunt isn't going on, they will soon realize the wood elves also have some of the fastest cavalry and best warmachine killers in the old world.
Hej Arch. What would happen if High Elves wonder into Athel loren ? Instant slughter or Wood Elves have somekind of sentiment to their ancestors?Do Wood Elves even remember that they were once High Elves or they so much remade by forest that even oldest Wood Elves just cut every ties with High Elves or throw out their high elven history?
If the High elf walked into the forbidden forest without bothering to appease the forest and the elves within it then most of the time that high elf will die. In the eyes of the Wood Elves; when the High Elves left the Old World to protect Ulthuan, those elves "abandoned" the elves who refused to leave the Old World. The War of the Beard was just concluding so who knew whether those angry dwarfs would attack again. Also an amount of the elves living at the Old World at the time had never been to Ulthuan. This meant that a lot of elves didn't want to leave their homes to die for a country that had no influence to their lives.
hey arch, The mary sue has gone and done another 40k article and it's just as bad as the last one. I don't know of its worth a vid but it's definitely worth a snark or two. check it out when you get the chance.
Could you do a video or part of a video on the tau empire, specially on happens when human worlds are taken over by the tau or humans that join the tau
So i'm curious, wouldn't the best way to beat the wood elves just to be a sort of rolling thunder strategy? Like you just amass tons of long range artillery (preferrably that causes lots of fire) and just keep unloading wave after wave of fire from afar burning the forests to ash and slowly moving forward to keep turning the lush forests into a desolate waste forcing the elves to fight in open warfare.
No love for the Dark Elves? I know there's not a lot of cool-ish units, but still. Glade Guard (cool unit) and White Lions (Best Design Ever) are great, but no love for the Executioners/Blackguard/Witch Elves???
