To be fair, the White Lions don't really have too much lore. Unless you get to the captains, their lore really does begin and end with "used to be lumberjacks, saved the Phoenix King, now personal bodyguard of the Phoenix King."

These guys and the Hammerers bring up few questions about what sort of training civilian goes through, when they take some "peaceful" profession. Also, this leads me to the idea of how you can form a proper military organization in Warhammer world, with your friends, charged with defending the leader of your country. step 1. pick a profession that involves using metal objects and has nothing to do with war step 2. gather up few friends step 3. learn how to use your tools in ways detrimental for others health step 4. ????? step 5. profit

Unless both sides of each scissor blade are double-edged. then you take a scissor large enough (like a hedge trimmer) and you have pretty decent weapons. Nothing that could stop a Chaos Champion, true, but if the nutjobs in Nuln get the idea to their heads, wonderful scissor weapons might appear.
This brings back memories of wandering across Ulthuan with Cimba, back in Warhammer Age of Reckoning. The white lion is still the best pet class I've ever played in an mmo, swapping aggro mid battle, and really working together to maximise dps.
Check Return of Reckoning. Is a reborn WAR, and although isn't at 100% yet, it is at about 95% of what WAR was just now. Plus, there was some balancing tweaks and DoK and WP can use small shields instead of a book/chalice if they desire
I wonder if the Dwarfs feel salty that the High Elves have better Axes that are better than theirs. Of course, if you value your physical integrity, you are not going to say that into a Dwarf's face.

@@marcuskurze9759 Dude you can't compare lore to tabletop. If need proof, a bolter hit has a sub 50% chance of killing a guardsman, while a lasgun hit has about 10% of killing a space marine.

Am I the only one that realizes that making a two handed axe too light is actually counter productive? More than half it's cutting and piercing power depends on the momentum (and therefore weight) of the axe. Well, elven craftsmen obviously didn't notice that....
For me, the lizardmen were always fascinating. They tame and ride fricking DINOSAURS. It's a dream come true, I've always wanted to see units using dinosaurs as mounts and living siege equipments and stuff

Gotta respect a bunch of woodsman who when turned into a bodyguard decided they need to hunt Giant White Lions with an Axe. Even if they ARE High Elves. For High Elves, these guys are kinda awesome.
Not the best bodyguards one could say, good old Starbreaker just chopped his way through them and severed the Oathbreakers head from his shoulders. Perhaps they learnt a bit about axemanship from that....
Officially at the point where I already know the story; I just want to hear Arch tell it. I did like the 'Caledor' book version better, but hearing Arch say how a bunch of lumberjacks decided that felling dark elves was just like felling trees was delightful.
yeah thats probably the case because one more similarity is that Constantinople the capital of Buzantium was in Thrace (which seams similar to Chrace the high elf province)

Two-handed weapons always strike last. High Elves always strike first, regardless of weapon. These fuckers were legit OP. I guess Matt 'fuckwit' Ward had a hand in their creation.
You neglected to say the biggest part of White Lion initiation. Several hunters in Chrace kill the lions by various means to protect the villages. But to become part of the Phoenix King's bodyguard, the aspiring elf must go out and kill the lion BAREHANDED!!!!!
Lol what a coincidence, I'm playing Warsword Conquest (a Warhammer Fantasy mod for M&B Warband) and just last night I got a White Lion helmet, which looks great with the Blade Lord suit of armor and the white Glade Steed. Such a fabulous-looking universe (Still prefer 40K though).

Good vid, as always. But you got one detail wrong. The first Phoenix King Caledor was originally called Imrick. He took the name Caledor to honour his grandfather, Caledor Dragontamer. Read The Sundering, by Gav Thorpe. It's the best source I've found for High/Dark Elf ancient history.
Elves, armed with Dane axes, cool, crazy but cool, some what heretical but it alright, played one in WarHammer Online, ow nostalgia, can't wait when they are put in the game! :D

Wielding an axe does increase glory and badassery by at least 5 on a scale of ten 6 if doubled up or too big to be swung in a singular hand with practicality.
Would a dwarf use a White Lions axe? If (although unlikely, but IF) he killed the elf and looted the axe off him. I mean, sure, dwarves would rather take a dump in the elfs helmet and send it to his family, but it IS a pretty sweet axe, AND the dwarf could stand in front of a high elf army and say "Look what I got twiggys."
So, the white lions are the high elven version of the demigryphs. This gives me the chance to ask a question I have for quite some time about the demigryphs in total war. Comparing the models in game with the official gw artwork it seems that the in game demigryphs are smaller than I expected. Also, in the Empire amry video you proposed a five model unit Arch and considering how in game they are a 24 model unit, would you consider that total war demigryphs are a "downgrade" compared to their lore counterparts? In your army video you described them as overpowered monsters that murderfuck everything in their path. The wikia also gives the same impression, so the in game unit, even though it is among the best in the game, feels quite dissapointing. Perhaps, bigger demigryphs in smaller units whould make a bigger impact. (A similar issue has come up with the Blood Knights, as many have pointed out that a 60 model unit of vampire knights is just wrong.)
highelves have lots of twohanded weapons at their elite ranks maybe great weapons are normal elveweapons. whitelions and dragonprinces have str 4 thats more than the most orcs hold that in mind
I'm a bit confused with Arch's pronunciation. If you listen to Arch's version it should be spelled "Thrace", like the geographical region in the eastern Balkans, or the ancient Kingdom. I know Arch can be a bit peculiar when it comes to pronunciation and lets be honest, English isn't really one of those "rule-based pronunciation languages" like French. Still, I have no idea where his "Th" comes from. Is it actually pronounced like this?
I think that Arch gets a few details a bit off. He's not really "inaccurate" so to say, but the topics he covers are so broad that he is bound to have a few mess ups here and there. Regarding this particular point though. As far as I am aware, there is no official pronunciation of "Chrace" You can say it like "Trace" or "Thrace" or "Krace" and it is all just as valid. Personally, I go with "Trace."
