That's awesome. It really does stand out. The Street Glide is a fantastic bike, but let's be honest...they don't really stand out. Enjoy your Road King and thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
Got a used 2020 Road King Special coming to me next week. It has 460 miles with upgrades and the owner just wanted to get out of the payments. Can't wait to ride it here in the mountains of SW Virginia.
I love my 2020 RKS it's River Rock Grey Denim, I was always a Dyna guy when I was ready to sell my Fat Bob and looking at new bikes I was gravitating to the Road Glide. When I saw the RKS and took it for a test ride....Sold. Love it, love the look. Once the warrantee expires in goes an S&S cam to get the Harley sound which I feel is lacking with the M8's Your bike looks great...Ride Safe!!!
Thanks for watching. My first Harley was a Dyna Super Glide. I loved it!!!! But this RKS is a whole nother story. This thing is great. Ride safe, and please keep watching!
Dang!!! Sounds like a sweet ride! My neighbor went with the full Rhinehart exhaust and loves it. Sounds nice and throaty. Thank you for watching! New video Thursday morning at 8:00 eastern time.
Had my 2022 RKS for 3 weeks and put 2600 miles on it. I did put a Saddlemens Road Couch (extended) on it and it makes a huge difference in comfort. I love my RKS.
Got 21 blacked out , agree the seat needs an upgrade !! I added hwy pegs and rear dock kit with siouxicide sissy bar (waiting on ) , rolled my bars forward to a higher position , took all the reflectors off
Beautiful bike. Happy for you. Do really like side view mirrors down there? For me it just didn't make feel comfortable. Felt awkward. By the way, How many ci was your Heritage and what year. I have 07 96ci. We are planning to do big bore 110ci. Do you think it is good idea?
Love the mirrors down low. Just looks better. My Heritage was also a 114ci. Nice bike but I wanted a RKS. The big bore kit sounds fun. Nothing wrong with more power. Thank you for watching ×
Great bike, I'm planning on getting the 2022 RKS. What exhaust you recommend? I am thinking the only thing I will really need to do right away is change the bars, get the exhaust (either slip ons or change complete exhaust) and add a stage 1 .
Hey Bob, sweet Road King. I Have a 19 with a stage 2. S&S475 cam on it. The bike is so smooth with power and shifting. I also have the Harley Davidson Wind Splitter windshield with 14' Handlebars and it works great for me! I'm eventually trying to upgrade my seat as well so let me know what you come up with
That sounds great. I'm torn between the wind splitter and the road warrior fairing. These are such great bikes. My wife and I spent yesterday on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was beautiful. I'll let you know what seat I end up going with. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
For me, it came down to the Heritage, Road King or the Electra Standard. Went to a dealer to look at a '13 King Classic and rode out with a '17 King Special. Youre right, factory seat stinks, I went LaPera Villain DLL. Added a windshield and Kahuna collection goodies, I like it.
Good choice on the seat. My biggest problem with the stock seat is that it is really kind of ugly. Comfort wasn't great, but I could deal with it. Thanks for watching!
I'm interested in the Harley solo seat with the diamond stitching. It's really comfortable, looks great and is reasonably priced. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it!
i've been looking for a phone mount for my handlebars recently, I'm liking the one you have there. could you tell me the type of mount that is? because it's exactly the style and position i'm going for. thnx in advance.
Sure thing! I bought this off of Amazon. It's by a company called iMETSOU (Chinese, of course). I love that it doesn't block any part of my screen, which is great for using my GPS. The price at the time was $27.99. I also bought one for my wife, and we really love them. There are two types available; one that simply holds your phone, and one that you can wire to your bike, and it will work as a charger. I added a link for you. I hope this is helpful, and thank you for watching!!! www.amazon.com/stores/iMESTOU/page/A26C81A9-DDBB-4AEB-B95A-BB2B29864853?ref_=ast_bln
New sub here, I own a 14 Road King FLHR, love the RK, ride 2 up with the wife, great road bike for trips, I also own a 17 Sporty for around town and ride to work, weather permitting. Your RK looks awesome !
I have the 19 sgs and i love it. Really similar bike you get all the bangs from the touring line without having to carry that ferring out front. Might be my next bike.
I just traded my 2018 FLHC with stg2 on a 2021 RKS, and man I'm glad. Loved my heritage, it was my daily rider for sure, now the RKS is. It was unexpected, but happy I did. I tossed on some Rinehart slipons and she runs like a champ. What bars are those? Great looking scoot man.
Thanks, and I'm glad you're enjoying your RKS aa much as I am. I could not be happier with it. The bars came from Mean City Cycles. They're called Kong Bars. I have them tilted back just a bit for comfort. I just rode home from Myrtle Beach yesterday...four hours, non-stop and this bike is so smooth and comfortable. Thanks for watching and let me know what upgrades you make.
Looking at getting my first Harley I do a bit of 2 up overnight rides, 2 I am looking at are the Heritage or the RKS a lot of guys on RU-vid who owned Heritages always sold them after a while
Hi, and thanks for watching. The Heritage is a fantastic bike...having said that, you will be comfortable on a touring chasis bike. Test ride both, with your passenger and see what you think. Thanks again for watching. I really appreciate it.
Actually, the opposite. This is the easiest bike I've owned for finding neutral. The Heritage was a challenge, but not this RKS. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
Really interesting review bud, thank you. 👍 Those handlebars, I think you referred to as 14 inch. They look higher/longer than standard, is that right?
I’ve got the 21 RKS. As with all of the RKS owners, we love em, it’s why we bought them. I like that Harley Davidson makes subtle changes year to year, or we be buying cookie cutter bikes. I like the wheels on the 19, I like em in the 21. I personally think the Road King, classic or Special is the true icon, nuts and bolts, motorcycle. All are great machines, with owners who appreciate the feel of riding a motorcycle , not a two wheeled, convertible! Hey, if that’s your thing, go for it. Just ride, it’s what it’s about ! Much respect brother, and ride safe!
Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. Enjoy that RKS!!! I was able to get in about a hundred miles today, and I'm hoping to tomorrow as well. I agree that the RKS and the Classic icons in the Harley line up. I always stop to look when I see one!!! Ride safe, and keep the comments coming. I enjoy communicating with viewers.
Great question, and I'm probably not the best person to answer this. I have very little experience on a Street Glide. I can tell you that the Road King handles great. Try a test ride of both at your local dealer. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
Hi! I'm 5' 10", and these bars are perfect. Very comfortable. I do have them tilted back towards me a bit to allow for a windshield. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
I have a 2021 Road King special the first thing I did to it when I got it was put a solo seat on it Harley-Davidson offers a solo seat for a bagger which is a pretty good seat and it's very comfortable I've even got a Road Glide and I put Electra Glide Standard seat on it the Electra Glide Standard come with a solo seat It's a good-looking seat and it's very very comfortable they're both very reasonable price you got a good-looking bike good- look on your choices I hope this helps you
Thanks. The running lights make a big difference. Both functionally and looks. I'm considering getting them for mine. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
I've had 9 Harley's in my lifetime. 1 Fatboy (03), 1 Deluxe (08), 1 CVO Road Glide (12), 1 Ultra LTD (18 have now), 2 Street Glides (06 & 15) and... 3 Road Kings (03, 13 have now and 12 have now). The Road King to me (in any of its manifestations (Base, Classic or Special) is the most versatile bike HD makes. It can be many things to its owners and likely why I have had more of those (and still have 2) than any other model. The current run on Road King Specials (blacked out models) to me are some of the best bikes HD has ever produced. I intend on having one someday in the next couple years, either after selling the LTD or.. if I can convince my wife 4 bikes is a good idea again... :) Anyway, nice bike, ride safe!
I had my 2020 rk special for 3 years and it rode smoothly … I rode it from Ga to South Dakota to sturgis … the only thing for me was how heavy it was. I’m a smaller guy. 5’6 so I traded it in for a heritage. Which to me the heritage felt more comfy for my size.
Thanks for watching and subscribing. I love both as well, and have owned both, but I love the blacked out low looking special. I ordered some goodies for it, so stay tuned!!!! Thanks again!
Hi Dan, and thanks for watching! The Fatboy! An iconic bike that never goes out of style. The bike looks great and has a ton of attitude. I'm sure that with the new softail frame, it handles well, but having said that, the wide rear tire will affect handling. I'm a huge fan of the Fatboy and recommended it for commuting and short to medium rides. I don't think it will fair too well as a long distance bike, and it's not designed to. I recommend determining the type of riding you'll be doing and test riding one. I hope this helps!
@@bobrose3298 hi Bob, and thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I'm not a touring rider anymore, these days I'd probably consider myself to be a fair weather rider for the most part. I'd rarely be out longer then a full day
@@bobrose3298 thank you Bob for all the advice. Would you have any conserns about leaving it out in bad weather? I'm not saying overnight but if I took it to work I'd have to leave it outside
@@danthechippie4439 we've all had our bikes rained on, and when it does happen I give the bike a good wipe down with whatever cleaner I happen to be using. Also, if you know that there is a chance of rain on a day you plan to ride, you can pack a cover for the bike. It should easily fit in a swingarm bag or backpack.
I traded my new Sport Glide in (‘21) for a ‘18 RKS in Industrial Grey Denim….beautiful bike with “the same” 107 engine. This bike fits me more and no back strain anymore. The SG was too small! I’am 6,2
Street Glides are beautiful, and do is your color choice. I always felt too big for my Heritage. I'm much more comfortable on the RKS. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
Hi Bob. I have a 2020 RKS with the Windsplitter shield. I modified the mounting system to achieve fore and aft adjustment (good for fitting apes and raising the shield to raise the bubble over your head). Also secures against theft. Windsplitter is a great shield. 100 mph smooth as glass. But it will walk off since it doesn’t secure to the bike.
I have an 04 Road King Classic. It isn't black and is covered in chrome and my favorite. I've been looking at newer bikes and they don't suit me so much. I get a lot of looks on my old girl, it has some mods like the Reinhardt pipes, the LED conversion, a green underglow on the chrome, so it looks good day or night. Sad thing is it still has the 88ci engine but it runs great and has enough power for cruising around. I do wish it had the 6 speed instead of the 5 but it is what it is. I'm not sure I would change it for a newer bike to be honest. If anything I would change the jugs and sprockets to change the ratio a little.
It sounds like you have a great bike. As long as you're happy with it, there's no need to buy something new. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it.
@@bobrose3298 Yeah I do, I'm disabled and have been looking for a long time and finally found this one. Affordability is a problem as a lot of folks know, and I've spent a lot of money on this bike but I didn't mind. I paid $8500 out the door, it took it to a dealer to have it checked out and spent another $1400 there so in the end it was much cheaper than the new bikes; but, I think much better looking. I'm 55 now and have wanted a Harley since I was a teenager, about '76 actually. My cuz had the bicentennial bike and I loved it and wanted one ever since, I finally got my chance. My only problem is finding someone to polish it for me, I can't take care of all that chrome with my spine issues. haha
@@Wildturkey10121 I know what you mean!!! I'm 56, and I don't move like I used to. I have to keep my Road Glide and my wife's Low Rider S shining, and that's a lot of work. I just don't trust anyone else with them. I didn't get into motorcycles until I was close to 30. Sounds like it's been a life long love for you. Keep riding and and keep watching!!!
Thank you!!! After I bought it, someone asked me if I thought I'd made a mistake, so I figured I'd make a video answer. I love this bike. I threw my back out last Monday, so I haven't been able to ride until today. Only about a hundred miles, but it was great. Bike runs and sounds amazing. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
I've had a heritage and a Road King both pre Rushmore era bikes the heritage was super comfortable but the king rode better. But I've been on road Glides since 2015 I'm not going back!
yes! yes it was. Harley pins our ecm and bcm to their software. so when they break you have to take it to Harley for service. you can't buy and replace parts without said software. now Harley " can't find parts" so my bike has been in limp mode for a month waiting on a emc that if it wasn't for the Harley re I could have found on ebay and fixed myself a month ago. even though I've been riding Harleys for well over 40 years my next bike won't be one.for a short time I had a kawasaki and I regret trading it for my roadking.
Sorry that you are dealing with that. That's very unfortunate, and I understand how you feel. I owned Yamaha motorcycles for years before moving to Harley, and they were very good bikes. Good luck and thank you for watching!
My stunning 2019 Indian Springfield in gray and burgundy and I, don't necessarily think it was a mistake, but if you do, we know how it can be rectified. Indian Springfield, cruiser heaven, all day, every day.
@@bobrose3298 Thank you, I do enjoy it so. But if not the Indian Springfield, the Road King was definitely another choice for me. I've always been partial to the retro looks of both. To me they both embody all that is good about heavy weight cruiserdom.
@@bobrose3298 I see what you are saying. IMO Road Kings from any year are superior to the other models. That being said, I’m currently riding a TC fat boy. Good video.
If you're looking for a solo seat I've got a Road Glide it's a 17 I picked up an Electra Glide Standard solo seat the most comfortable seat I've ever been on you might consider it have a good day
@@bobrose3298 you're welcome. I am a United Methodist Pastor and a Retired United States Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer. I live in Vilas, NC. I have been to Speedway a couple of times. My sister lives in Concord. I have a 2004 Heritage Classic with an 88. I had HD of Asheville install the screaming eagle oil pump, hydraulic cam chain tensioner, HD oil cooler, Vance and Hines two into one pro pipes and I installed an Ultimate seat for my wife. I'm looking for a Road King, not sure if I want a pre 2003 or a late model version with a 114.
@@kennethanderson1685 your Heritage sounds amazing!!! As for the Road King, I obviously prefer the Special, and I have owned a standard Road King, so I'm familiar with both. The 114 motor is something else!!!! You really need to take one for a ride. Thank you for your service to our country and thank you for watching. I really appreciate it. Let me know if you have any other questions regarding the Road King.
I was waiting to hear why I shouldn't get the bike given the experience. The title tease is obviously purposely deceiving. So apparently I should get the bike.
gave the video a thumbs down because based on the title i was expecting to hear what you didn't like about the bike and why you might be regretting the purchase . it's cool that you love the bike but if the seat is the only problem i don't think you can call it a mistake .
Thank you for watching. I didn't say it was a mistake, I asked if I made a mistake and answered the question in the video. Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it.
@@bobrose3298 ok , good answer . it's a bit of a negative way of wording things . maybe a better title would be '3000 mile review and why i love almost everything about my new Road King' like many people i'm trying to decide between the Road King and the Heritage , your video did cover that so i'll switch from thumbs down to thumbs up .
So, your only noteworthy comment after 2000 miles is "loads of power, bum hurts, looks good"? How disappointing..... how does it drive, brake, corner, act under load...... pffff....
Thank you for watching. I had been asked by someone if I thought I had made a mistake....so, I made a video to answer the question. I'm sure this isn't the first click bait title that you've seen.
