Was Klay Thompson snubbed from the NBA Top 75 list? | NBA Countdown 

A.D. hasn't done enough for top 75 yes has talent but doesn't play enough to warrant top 75 as yet.

I don’t get the Dwight disrespect. Him in his prime was greater than all of those that they listed. He brought his team to the finals and was an all time great defensive player who dominated both ends

I dunno how the list was made. I dunno what are the criteria they need to be included in that list, but man, Klay's resume is already topnotched, and he's not even retired yet! And there's no reason for him not to be in that list. Now I want to Klay back on the court again and prove to everybody that he deserves to be on that list!

SAS just a few hours ago said he spent 2-3 weeks on this whole thing and now says he got to think about taking off AD. AD should have never made the list. At least not yet.

Damian lillard and Anthony Davis is too early to be in this list.

Alex English, Adrian Dantley, and Tracy Mcgrady were omissions too, no? How about Dikembe Mutombo? A total monster defender and 2nd all time in career block shots.

Klay has one of the cleanest nicest looking forms of shooting I've seen. So not only is his shooting percentage legendary, his shot is just such a sight to see. But another snub not on this list is T Mac or Vince Carter.

The worst snub was Alex English. The man was the literally leading scorer of the 80s. Not Jordan, not Bird, not Gervin, Alex English!

Klay is not only one of the greatest shooters of all time, but he is an elite defender. I’ve lost track the amount of times Klay has come in clutch to save a game for the Warriors. Add on the finals appearances/championships, 5x all star, nba all team, etc. He easily is Top 75 of all time.

I think the issue with Klay is not that he is not deserving, but he is flying under the radar because of his style of play and his style as a person. He does it on a very minimalistic and efficient style. He is not dribbling around or ball dominant. As pure of a 3 and D there is. The question would also be who to leave off the list, because obviously all these players have incredible resumes. But yeah, he is an incredible player and depending on your measuring stick could be on that list.

Klay should be in the top 60-70 players

37 points in 1 quarter. I don't think there's anybody in the top 75 that could do that if they tried to. I know 1 game doesn't define your career, but he did stuff like that consistently. Through out his whole career. While guarding the other teams best player.

Klay is a creative player, he is the model of a guard who doesn’t need ball on his hand and he still can score, the highest level defense…..his scoring explosion is so amazing, definitely the best 3D of all time, he should be on this list……

Pistol Pete already made the top 50 so he can't be removed from it. McGrady accomplished more than Pistol Pete. Same amount of First Teams. T-Mac has more Second Teams, scoring titles, and All-Star selections.

When Clay drop 60 points in 3 quarter and his coach pulled him that's what I think affected his top 75, if he had stayed in and drop 82 points, then his individual legacy would be set, he play team ball, Westbrook plays Westbrook basketball (individual) got so much triple double that got him in the top 75, Clay Thompson individual was not consistent enough because of team ball, but he should have gone after kobe Bryant 81 and the discussion would be different

If anyone was snubbed it would be Dwight Howard, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Pau Gasol

If you are trying to make a case that Klay Thompson is one of the 75 greatest players in NBA history, it is through this lens that he is overrated. Even at his peak before injuries robbed him of two-plus seasons, it would have been a hard case to say Thompson was one of the top 15 players in today’s NBA. Thompson has two all-NBA bids in his career (third team, 2015 and 2016). In comparison, Paul George - who came into the NBA one year before Thompson and was not named to the NBA at 75 team - has six all-NBA bids. Thompson gets accolades for his defense, but he has only one All-Defensive nomination (2019) on his resume. George, on the other hand, has four All-Defensive bids (2013, 2014, 2016 and 2019) on his resume. But based on the amount of national exposure and praise Thompson has received from 2015 through 2019, the casual fan may think Thompson is more decorated than George. The reality is Thompson is not as good of a player as George.

Klay is a great player, but he's missed too much time recently. He'll make the next list for sure if he comes back and stays healthy. Besides Howard, I thought Carter was snubbed.

I'd take him over CP, Harden, and Carmelo. They have no championships and Klay has been the best spot up shooter in the past decade.

The fact of the matter is, some of those old timers are on the list because they were some sort of pioneers, or they were great contributors to the sport even though they weren't superstars. So yeah, some of them got the participation medal.

He's a product of the system. He played for one of the highest scoring teams in NBA history and can't manage more than 22 ppg. That's because he can't create his own offense, he needs others to set him up. He's a top shooter but so is Kyle Korver. I'm willing to bet Korver could've put up similar numbers if he got to shoot eight 3's per game.

With or without rings AD skills is rare for his height. For Klay Thompson had Brandon Roy played longer he could outshine him. Too many should be there before klay. Even Robert Horry and ginobili should be there before him. All of them have rings as welk. If Klay is really good then why he also begged for Durant along with Green, Curry and Iguodala at Hamptons to join them instead of him telling them that hey we don't need Durant because I am one of the 75 greatest. Google it they begged for Durant at Hamptons. Beggar of greatness!

I'm with Jalen on this one. Take Anthony Davis off that list and put Klay in his spot. IMO, this isn't as hot a take as SAS appeared to make it. Yeah, AD is talented and a superstar, but to an extent, he has become the Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway of this generation. He's been nagged by injuries (at least in recent memory) and there are moments when he hasn't performed up to his talent and skill level. In contrast, Klay has been relatively healthy and proves to be a clutch performer. Yeah, Klay has been fortunate to have played much of his career surrounded by other talented players, which would improve his performance, but so have a lot of other players who are on that list. To SAS's point, there always seems to be someone standing in Klay's way of getting the respect that he's so deserving of.

How about Chris Mullin? He averaged 26 pts, 2 steals, 5 rebounds, 4 assist in his prime with hand checking vs Klay avg 21-22 pts, 0.5 stls, 3 rebounds with no hand checking. Thats an easy Warriors comparison to someone his size.

Vince Carter (19th) and Alex English (20th) are the only players on the top 20 scoring list all time not on the NBA 75th anniversary team. Yao and Dwight must be in....Lillard and Davies are candidates for top 100.

My opinion. I feel that in order to be considered top 75 in NBA History. There has to be an aspect of longevity. I would say that klay deserve to be on this list as much as anyone but its his body thats letting him down. You dont here tracy Mcgrady in Goat conversations coz mostly he was injured

Klay Thompson is a top 5 shooter well duh okay but it’s not a top 75 shooter list and he went to 5 straight finals yeah that’s ridiculous but you gotta take into consideration his situation he was on the warriors sure he was the number 2 option on that team but there’s a lot of players that would have thrived on that team it’s all about his situation he himself is not the reason they went to 5 straight finals smfh

Recency bias, perhaps? I agree that Klay should be there, but he hadn't played in the last 2 seasons, which might have affected the vote (I'm not one of the voters, so I don't know for sure). If Dame got on the list, then Klay certainly should have been there.

There are great individual players and great winning players. Klays the only guy in the league where you can put him on all 30 teams and he would start, fit in immediately, and make them better. Lock down defender on Team USA as well as guaranteed 20+ ppg without dribbling. Top 75 no doubt. If you're building the best team ever, Klay Thompson is in the rotation

I dont agree with leaving the original top 50 on list. It would suck for them to be taken off, but it sucks for the deserving guys who who have shined since 96. At least those other guys already got acknowledged. Also if everyone universally agrees that Dominique Wilkins and Bob Mcadoo were snubbed why penalize the new guys and take away two of their spots. He’s one of the most overrated defenders of all time. Zero ball handling to speak of. 3.5 rebounds per game. 2.3 assists. 0.9 steals ONE defensive SECOND team. He’s an all time shooter. Probably a top 90 player. To act like this is some travesty is ridiculous.

The fact that Vince Carter wasn’t going in the top 75. Some of these players had plenty of superstars playing alongside. Vince was by himself for most of his prime years minus Kidd (But no front court) Vince top 20 all time in scoring 2X all NBA Olympic Gold ROY Dunk Champ 8X all star.
