Kawhi leaving Toronto was also a mistake. He should’ve signed a 1and1 to run it back with Toronto in 2020. He would’ve made it to at least another conference finals.

I see this all the time, and can't understand how people can't realize that Kawhi's priority after Toronto was not winning a chip, but playing and living in LA. So, for him it was not mistake. Whether or not that's a good basketball call, that's another topic, which was not Kawhi's priority.

It's easy to say in hindsight 🤷🏻‍♂️. Heck we won't even know if SGA could've developed properly in LA but I'm happy that he got traded to OKC who started to rebuild at that time which is quite fortunate for him since he had no pressure and has all the time to develop.
@TuNnL

To me, once you break your leg, you're never going to be the same player. Overcoming a tibia and fibula fracture and return to star status was actually so unlikely, that Gordon Hayward would frequently call Paul George for guidance on his lesser injury. PG13 was a high-risk, high-reward player, but to pair him with another injury-plagued star like Kawhi Leonard was the driving force behind the L.A. Clippers trying to acquire Russell Westbrook, who is historically one of the healthiest players in the league. Unfortunately, it didn't happen until 2023, far too late for this aging trio to pool their collective strength enough to stave off Father Time. 🏀
@JimBob-jr5up

Its easy to say with foresight. You clearky didnt pay attention to SGA and what he did for the Clippers in the POs. They got 7 firsts and Gallo to use, trade as exp. @@taetrrtot6205 id make the argument that leveraging a franchises future 6,7,8 years down the road and ability to properly adjust now if needed, no matter who the player is, is not a good trade. In this specific scenario id also argue that the FO has a lack of direction and vision and has a hard time evaluating talent and evaluating what it takes to contend in the west. I think they made a mistake when deciding the best way to rebuild or retool. They went with the model that if everything went my way,the drafts, FA, no injuries, etc then maybe, maybe, they could get a ring. They should have gone with the model that has the Rockets, Cleveland and most of all OKC out here making every other organization shitting tgeir pants in fear of what the situation will be moving firward.... short rebuilds for Rockets and OKC. @dlwlrma177
@dlwlrma177 11 месяцев назад
It's easy to talk about it in hindsight, but think back to the 2019 offseason. If you were given the opportunity to trade for Paul George, who had just averaged 28 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 4.1 APG, along with the guarantee that the reigning NBA Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard, would sign with your team once you completed the trade, why not? SGA, the center piece of the trade, was coming off his rookie season averaging 10.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 3.3 APG. Of course, the five first-round picks and two first-round pick swaps given up were going to hurt in the long run, but if you're getting both Kawhi and PG, it's a win-now move, no? Obviously we can look back at it now and laugh about how injuries derailed the Kawhi-PG era while SGA slipped through their hands and blossomed into a potential MVP, but I'd say the move made sense at the time. For the record, I don't support the Clippers and absolutely cheered when they blew a 3-1 lead to Denver in 2020, but the amount of revisionism about their 2019 offseason is crazy.

What people don’t understand that makes this trade one of the worst ever is that Shai is not only better than PG at this current moment, but this past season he already had a better season than Paul George has ever had. Yes the MVPG season was a great season, but it would not have netted him a top 3 finish in this past seasons MVP race in a league where 7 different players averaged 30 a game. Even with all that being said, Shai is still 24 (will be 25 in less than a week) and the Clippers still owe OKC two more unprotected firsts and a pick swap after already gifting them J-Dub.

@@SusPastorFoundBrutallyMurdered while I will give you that point about defense, I wouldn’t say Shai’s defense is super far off. He was pretty close to 2 steals a game (1.6) and also averaged a block a game which Paul George has never come close to. PG was probably a better defender in his prime, but that not-too-big gap defensively does not make up for Shai scoring more points per game on like basically the same amount of shots per game and on significantly better efficiency. My heart would take PG’s MVP season, but my brain takes Shai’s season any day of the week.

Clippers lose because they allowed a player control of business operations AND they allow the player to put them in a bind to give up a HUGE amount of primo picks. OKC wins for being lucky to have the player KL was after and being smart to demand a HUGE amount of priority picks. SGA was only a prospect=OKC can only hope he can be a nice addition but does not care when 6 top tier picks is what they were after. 6 picks like this is tremendous leverage in the drafts or in picking up top players that become available etc.

This is recent biased yes in hindsight seeeing who shai is as a player it seems bad but 1 a lot of why la hasn’t worked out is just bad luck 3 years of straight injuries one of them In 2021 they were very much going to make the finals and probably win the title and at the time of the trade u have a team that is older with guys like Lou Williams pay bev Harrell good players but are older so u can’t develop shai unles su blow it up and pg was coming off a mvp type season to add with kawhis mvp type season not to mention even if la had shai they would still be trash now and with there luck not even make a good rebuild

the wolves gave up 5 players to the jazz who aren’t even on the roster anymore lmao, can’t speak on the picks cause they haven’t hit yet but i’d assume they’ll be low quality first rounders because they’ll be in the playoffs every year. KG pierce trade and PG trade definitely the two worst
