I agree I wear a white belt in BJJ I have washed mine more then one time it's a katarro belt. My black belt as well is from there I washed it . I used cold water and soap only I like your shirt how can I order one!
I admit I started karate in 1972, received my first Dan in 1975, & 2nd Dan in 1976, and I have never washed my belt, and have no plans to wash it, but I get what your saying. I don't wear it any more. ( Don't fit, lol) I have others I rotate. Btw, thanks for wearing the Kombat karate T-shirt. We just opened our new facility in Long Beach, Ca.
When I trained with gi and belt, I would occasionally throw my belt in the wash machine with my gi and the regular laundry. Cold water. Came out fine. I didn't know the manufacturers of my various belts, as they were all gifts from my instructor.
Do you know how wide your shureido belt is? It looks like it is 4cm. I want to get one just like it. However there are different widths and thicknesses. It seems they use different cores for the wider and thicker belts.
Yes I wash my belt, I also sweat a lot. When I sweat a lot in the summer the gi defiantly get washed after training. Cold, 15 minute quickly and the belt two to four weeks. I do the smell test, no one should suffer. Never put the belt in the hot dryer, I heard that it really shrinks. Treat your karate uniform like the rest of your athletic gear, wash -rinse- and train hard.
YES! YES! YES! You should have multiple uniforms and you wash your belt or sash. Also take everything out of your training bag when you get home from every class to air out. I hate when my students put clean uniforms on top of the dirty ones they left in their bag from the last class!!!!! I make my own Sashes of my school so I tell students how to wash them.
