With inflation at an all-time high and the price of things going through the roof it's important to start fixing things we can before tossing them.
This Whirlpool wash machine was getting stuck on the sensing cycle and never starting we replaced the Washer Shift Actuator and that fixed the issue for $32 buck beats buying a new one for thousands. Other countries prices may vary!

as a technician, Whirlpool, GE brands are terrible in washing machines! I don't like them and don't recommend them to anyone

My grandparents brand new whirlpool was doing this. i went through the manual and found that you Must use the u-shape mold holder thing on the drain pipe when fitted above the standing pipe drain type that comes up directly behind the washer. It also stated to not have more than x ammount of inches inside the drain pipe. I checked it and the u-shape was not being used and there was a good foot shoved down the drain pipe. I also found the hot water was shut off the manual states to leave it on even if not doing hot washes. After correcting these two issues it started to work as normal. THE DRAIN PIPE SETUP PART IN THE MANUAL is important if installed wrong the machine will stall on sensing and sometimes it will halway fill up with water.

I have a Kenmore 500 Series Auto Load Sensing Washer That is Stuck On Sensing, any recommendations on fixing that problem ?

That blinking sensing light is not the error code. You need to turn the knob to the right. It will flash a series of lights which will indicate the error code. Keep turning it to the right, and it will continue flashing remaining error codes. The blinking sensing light indicates you have reached the end of the stored codes. (It will store 4 error codes)

My issue is that the tub fills too much. I thought this motor may have been the problem, but I’m not sure now.

I did everything and had sensing error. Replaced the motor, sensing light still flashes. I'm stumped

mine goes to sensor then it keeps putting water in but doesn't go to wash, I can do all other modes no problem

Thank you so much ! I have the exact washer & I was having issues with it. I didn’t change the part but tried resetting & recalibration like you did it & so far it’s working. Was so sad because it was my second washer that has failed on me. Appreciate you !
