Ich habe ein altes Buch das neue Universum da war das beschrieben Motorlos über die Rhön Ausziehen laufen und los und dann schraubten sich die Segelflieger in die Höhe Hauptsache die Gummihunde hatten genug Kraft um das Teil zu starten ich würde gerne mitfliegen

Gleitzahl 1:Stein : ) Die SG38 wurde ab 1938 gebaut. Für dieses Baudatum schon eine Meisterleistung wie ich finde. Man kann diesen Flieger natürlich nicht mit den Swgelflugzeugen der heutigen Zeit vergleichen. Auf seine Weise hat der SG38 seinen ganz eigenen besonderen Charme : ) bin diesen zwar noch nicht geflogen (hofge, dass ich mal dazu komme) war aber schon dabei. Super Erlebnis : )

Hey, At the ,,Wasserkuppe" pilots can fly the SG38. With a group of 22-30 persons groups of pilot can fly on a weekend with instructions by an instructor. In google you can find the OSC Wasserkuppe. But I don't know if it is possible for pilots around the world. But there is an option-> write e-mail an ask : ) Many happy landings

Diesel

Sounded normal to me. 1950s-1970s Diesel engine, one or two cylinders. Knocks like that for decades... ;-)

Not as much fun and the method used was the one originally pioneered in that location, 100 years ago... Pulling with a car would probably be a bad idea, since the car will bounce around and jerk the rope, possibly damaging the plane. Launching it with a winch or behind a plane is better (and if you search for "Schulgleiter" on RU-vid, you'd find clips doing exactly that).

Ask the right people nicely for the plans, then build yourself. (There's a website in German that offers access to the plans if you ask nicely enough)

There's a web site with the same name as the model ("Schulgleiter") in German. If you ask nicely, they allow you the download all the documentation, including detailed plans. Is there a glider area in Oshkosh? I'd guess that plane would be rather unique... :-)

It's got plenty of wing. It looks like he did that becuase he wasn't high enough to get down the ridge to catch the wind blowing up the hill.

These are historical designs. The shortfall in performance was recognised and improvements made to the point we are at today.

Scratch "Nazi". Many pilots did.
