I'm not a scratch on Photon, Andy is a Genius and I am happy to see him back too. I'll try to make my vids as entertaining and interesting as his though.
@@glumpy10 Man your videos are just as entertaining. He is the king of electricity on RU-vid and you are the king of fire. both very very satisfying genres to watch
@@glumpy10 Andy may well be a genius in his field but so are you in yours ! You Sir have saved me hundreds and hundreds of pounds so far and that will run into the thousands because of you ! I now heat my entire house from oil based entirely on your design. :)
@@glumpy10 I really love the waste oil burner barrel that is a lot of fun for the kiddies i'm thinking about doing a similar project that involves screening out the sparks to minimize any type of injury in case somebody were to get burned by a few sparks my goal is to use something like what's inside of a catalytic converter and put that on a screen of some sort on top of the barrel itself so that way I can still have fun but reduce the number of sparks so that way I don't accidentally start fires just in case it's a bit windy out but anyways cheers to you mate if you desire so by all means feel free to email me railcon5100@gmail.com
@@414RadioTech Don't know what you would use for the sparks that would stand up to the heat. Even Cat Honeycomb would melt I believe. I Picked up a Cat ( off a car, not the type that sits on your lap) some time back and was going to use that for a Vid. Bit of pre heat, bit of oil and off it will go... For 5 Min anyway. There really isn't a lot of sparks with oil and the few there are don't tend to travel because the majority of them are burned before they leave the chamber .
I finished making mine tonight and... holy hell 😮 it was shooting out 6 foot flames and sounded like a jet taking off in my backyard. 😂 I watching your video to maybe learn how to harness its power. Wish me luck.
Indeed, I am silly enough to watch these videos! And I'm happy to see you back here, burning oil and delivering the humour we love! Thanx for a great vid! You are an inspiration to generations of people that can no longer grow eyebrows! :D Welcome back buddy
Your videos inspired me to experiment with and build my own oil burners years ago. Great to see new content and love the personality you put into the mix. Cheers from Iowa, USA.
GREETINGS FROM BRAZIL, OIL BURNER!!! GREAT, GREAT NEWS TO HAVE YOU BACK!!! FICAMOS TODOS TRISTES E CHEIOS DE SAUDADES. VOCÊ CONQUISTOU AMIGOS POR TODOS OS LUGARES DO MUNDO.
Welcome back mate. I know it is hard to believe but I really enjoy your videos and sense of humor. Oil burner has enormous possibilities that need further development. Good Luck.
Thank you for your information on the foundry burner , that's what i've been looking for . melts aluminum in 4 minutes with waste oil , wow i'm gonna melt 5 tons of it for a special project with a homemade rotary unloader . Thanks again from Canada.
you have the best oil burner vidios out there, I just build my first one based on another of your videos. I'm going to build one like this for bigger parts. thanks for giving us the know how to what we have all been thinking, " How do I use all this old oil to melt things." thanks again.
Your comment about Americans using torches instead of matches is so true. I wondered the same thing several years ago. Then I looked around my home. The water heater, gas logs and gas furnace have electronic ignitions. There is ALMOST nothing which requires a match (or a pocket lighter) these days. We do have 6 "six day prayer candles" (candle inside a tall glass jar... ) We use them for emergencies during black outs. Have book matches stored with them but I usually use a 'barbecue lighter' instead. (=Guess I need to buy a torch so I can assimilate with all the *other panty-waisted wusses* ... ) ;^) Only compensation is over 50% of us still own our firearms! BTW, long ago you knew me as "OgMandin0."
I was drawn to your site by two words ❤️🔥OIL BURNER❤️🔥 THATS WHAT I DID FOR THIRTY FIVE YEARS everything oil ❤️🔥 I even made SNOW with an oil burner😳 so I love to see your videos back! I LOVE YOUR SAFETY WARNINGS❤️🔥 good luck to ya buddy I hope you guys can survive your government❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Welcome back. I was hoping you didn't burn yourself up. I've used your designs in my home charcoal plant. Thanks again for all your hard work! Educational and entertaining.
We have moved and now have great neighbours. I was talking to the Mrs a few months back and I said you were very keen to get out of the other place. She said I was worried you were going to kill the idiot next door. I don't think she was joking. Much different here though.
@Cory Gill Until you go from one to the other, you don't realise what a difference good neighbours can make. I can get away with anything here. Neighbours love me... well so far at least. I look after their gardens while they are away, collect mail and do lawns. Also done some repairs to mowers, lent them tools and done neighbourly things. It's no big deal at all but they go on like I am donating a Kidney or something! No one seemed to like the previous owner though whom from what I gather was a tattle tale and a pain in the backside. When I have wanted to make noise or do something, I have asked apologised and it's been "no problem, do whatever you like" and they even come out and help me do things like burn off etc which isn't exactly Kosher here. It's like paradise compared to the last place.
@Cory Gill My Neighbour was looking after some sheep in the backyard for the local Ag school over the holidays 2 years back. Their Mother got sick so they had to be with her. Few days turned into a month and I was feeding the sheep for them. Trimmed all my overgrown hedges and shrubs and they went though it like no tomorrow. Every day I'd cut a pile and think that will hold them for a while and next morning they would be climbing the fence and calling for more. I took 7ft off over 150M of Hedge and they went though it. I'd go to feed them and the dog and the cat would wander over as well and they would all stand there looking and rubbing up to each other in a very civil and polite way. Hedges need Trimming again but I haven't got my 4 woolly jumpers to feed now. We all missed them when they went back to the school but I saw them at a local Fair a few months back where the school had a petting zoo setup for the kiddies.
@@undernetjack My uncle had one for decades. Would buy them as lambs, fatten them up then have them slaughtered. When My cousin came along and got a little older, of Course she got attached and the thing wasn't going anywhere. Oldest sheep ever, was nearly 20 when it died.
Hi Sidney' A nice warm video, I am sitting here frozen in Scotland; Just watching your video has het me up a little. I am working on my Burner just now but I had a let down?. My local garage gave me the free oil he was glad to get rid of it, But? Bloody god damn it was full of water so he is sacked. I wasted two hrs trying to get my burner up and running, But I will come back next week with maybe good news. Take care great entertainment.
If you put the oil in a drum or jerry can, the water will go to the bottom and you can draw the oil, carefully, off the top. Alternately use a drum with a tap on the bottom and drain off all the water by tilting the drum and then you should have dewatered oil.
10:00 Yes. Welcome back! I saw an Oil Burner video recommended and thought it was an old one - was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a recent upload.
Welcome back. I'm glad I never cancelled the subscription, I would have missed out. Half way through this latest video I suddenly thought "What's going on??? Not Safety tips??" And then you went and redeemed yourself. But I thought that last safety poster was meant to warn about not drinking the oil.
Thank you for your videos they were part of the inspiration to plan out and build my own waste oil burner glad to see you back! Something ive always wondered does the style of burner you use self clean? The use of a timer circuit was very creative.
Yes, one of the things I most like about the forced air type is they self clean. No matter how much or what type of oil you use, there is never any buildup other than just a Pinch of fine ash which is blown out next time the burner is fired up. The timers add a level of control that elevate the reliability and functionality of these burners.
Never a dull moment to watch your videos mate. Hello from Palau. I thought someone hacked your channel but when i recognized your voice i turned to my wife and said, "babe, he's back". Snd she respond, "oh that guy?". I thought only me but even my wife enjoyed watching your projects, but most especially the safety tips. I was assuming you had a strict and whiny neighbor that made you stop creating videos. I have one built project that i copied from your project and it was blasting powerful flame. Replica of your burner when you first tried out syphone. Once again welcome back and dont let yhe flame go out. 🙂🙂🙂
Glad to see you are back and even though I'm subscribe the notification thingy was off so I watched your next video first lol.. ps the bell on now.. thanks for shareing Regards Sleepy
I just installed a homemade oil burner in my outdoor boiler. Works great and I get my waste oil for free. Love the channel, I hope you get back to making videos.
On behalf of myself, as well as many others, Welcome Back! It's great to hear your voice again! We have been patiently waiting for this day! As a side note, in the north, Canada still loves matches, please continue as you like! After all, this is your channel and we all luv you and the content!
It is good to see that you are back. You need to put a warning at the beginning for people that live in California that just watching the video with cause cancer.
Or have a Heart attack! I have a friend in Cali. Got to admit I have to check the things he tells me from time to time that go on there but the only thing I have every found is he understates the stupidity and madness of the place. Then again, Lot of things NOT to be proud of going on in Oz of late as well.
I got duplexes behind my back yard here in Indiana. I keep the snowflakes happy lol. Plenty of activity in my backyard melting metal. I get plenty of lawnmower s to take apart and recycle. My main job is janitorial. Maybe I build a flame throwing toilet lol
Oh this is a delight! Storing my old frying oil for some later use I was reminded of this channel and the little back and forth we had some amount of time ago. Looks like you did make your return! :D
Hi Aussy, Thanks for the update on your oil burner - I am unable to get a Calor Gas Bottle around 19kg. I have made a small burner but no use for the scrapping I had intended to do. My oil feed is just fine I use a gate valve, And feed into a 15mm copper tube. I am just learning how to do a video to post so maybe see my results in the near future.
Welcome back Oil burner :) I can't thank you enough for making your videos, not for just entertainment but you have saved me hundreds of pounds as I now heat my house using your design. I think it would be interesting to find out with greater accuracy as to how much power in kw is actually coming out of these burners. I say this because I think the 10kw per litre per hour is rather on the low side as I am sure much more heat is produced when the air fuel is just right. I mean, if, say the fuel was atomised like a fog when it entered the inlet surely the burn would be much hotter and more efficient and therefore a much higher output than the rough estimates used at the moment ? or would it make little difference considering the amount of heat in the system when the fuel is pumped in ? I am curious because I heat my house using 19kg propane bottle and drip feed oil just as your setup here is shown but I only use half a gallon 4 pints per day, If I turn on the central heating which is gas fired the house will get up to 30 centigrade and I can turn on my oil burner and the house will continue to get hotter using the oil instead of the gas as the central heating will cut out. The gas boiler is a 24 kw system so surely that means most of the heat is pouring out the chimney but the chimney don't get hot which can only mean one of 2 things and that is the kw hours of the system is nowhere near 24 kw or my oil burner is way over ! Either way I am a happy man because of you and I send my condolences for Ed your friend that passed away may he rest in peace, without him you wouldn't have helped me out.
The 10 Kw in oil is the Chemical energy rating. It varys fractional from specific oil to specific oil, Canola, Corn, sunflower etc but it's near as dammit for all of them. From there it's just efficiency of the burner and the losses from combustion to heat transfer. 4 pints is 2.4L, 24Kwh a day. There are endless factors such as efficiency, home insulation, outside temp etc. Pre heating the oil and atomising etc is irrelevant. as long as the combustion is Complete, IE, no smoke, then that is achieved. People talk about heating the fuel but that takes very little energy to get to phase change where it will burn. What would be FAR better would be to pre heat the air. There is much more of it taking much more energy from the burn. I plan to make a burner that captures the waste heat like this in the future. It won't be hotter to any worthwhile degree, Heat is not the key, power is. You get that just by burning more fuel. I don't know anything about gas heating systems only that some are so efficient that the flue temp is under 40oC. That means that pretty much all the heat is going to where you want it. I can only suggest maybe you heater is throttled and does not do the full output all the time? I know some gas burners have turn down and the Turndown ratio, Min to max, is a selling point for some. Thank you for the kind words and I am very glad I was able to help you save money on your heating. Nothing more rewarding than to hear that I have been able to help someone with all this.
Great to have you back fella, you have been missed. Great tribute to Aussie50 Ed Jones, really nice thing to do. God I miss that guy; RU-vid is not the same without him and his wonderful presenting style and great variety of content sometimes with the help of his good mate Julian. RIP Ed you're a true legend and an inspiration to us all. Do you now have new neighbours as I seem to remember there was building work going on next door to you and are they enjoying watching your videos being made? 😂 Best wishes from me here in the UK 🇬🇧
Ed was very no frills because his skills and knowledge were amazing and he didn't need any gimmicks. I did not know him well but I think like a lot of others he did touch me more than I realised. I wouldn't probably have not got into YT if it were not for him. I think YT owes him a lot for the people he inspired to have a crack and whom joined the platform. I know it's been a while but that was my first chance to say thanks for what he did for me and not let him be forgotten. I have moved now and have fantastic neighbours. So different to where I was before. The other idiots gave me grief but I made sure I gave it to them back 10 Fold. I bet they had a party for a week when I left and after a year their nerves and PTSD probably started to calm down. I have still Haunted them though, a good friend is a local council ranger and the building work they did was shoddy and then they were running an Illegal home business. Done my friend a few decent favours in return for her staying on top of them and giving them all the fair and proper grief she can. They are not too bright but, keep dong the same thing breaking rules and Regulations and copping the same fines and don't learn.
You have inspired me to buy a pair of safety thongs and safety singlet just for these projects! After watching you safety tips I felt irresponsible and stupid without these items ;}
I love that backyard burner I wonder how your lovely neighbors are enjoying that waste oil burner barrel that you made a few years ago I wonder if you can actually do an update because I really love the fact that I could apply what I learned from your channel and used it and guess what no more smoke from the barrel when I toss various items such as rubbers plastics and what not and not A bit of smoke either just plenty of heat and sparks I'm also working on a project to bring down the sparks by making a filter type device where it's basically a metal screen that can filter those sparks out just like a catalytic converter would do I might even use a catalytic converter myself and make up some type of a contraption to catch all those sparks they come out of the burner
New Neighbours and I haven't done another burn barrel but it was certainly in mind. Have a LOT of tree trimmings to get rid of and was thinking of doing one of these again. One of my new neighbours at least is likely to jump the fence and come watch or help me stoke the thing. Had a few decent burns here and never had any problems so far.
You better start making one. Russia said winter is coming. I freezing here in Australia, as we got our winter now. 13°C tonight.ight get my long pants out
The legendary Oil Burner is back! This is superb, more videos on control and automation please. Can you list the items used in this vid? I'm trying to make one myself
