I’d think if you’re new to Prime X then just be prepared for an adjustment period, maybe don’t try and run 26 miles on your first run in them! Build up some strength in your ankles. I think it’s only really tight corners that could be an issue, if you can run a sweeping arc then you’re going to be fine. The one thing you wouldn’t want to do is run far across a slope or along a heavily cambered road as that could become a strain on the ankles.

I wore the Adios Pro 3 in Chicago marathon and they worked well. I have a pair of the original Prime X and they are crazy fun! I think I'm going to give them a go in Boston next year. I'm thinking they will work perfectly since there are only a few turns and the added stack should help keep the legs fresher in all the hills.

I recently got the Adios Pro 3 and really like it. It's one of those shoes that seems to get better with more miles and the time you put into it. It did feel a little weird at first - if not outright uncomfortable - but it has grown on me and I've come to really enjoy the bounce and response of the Lightstrike Pro midsole. I also love the Takumi Sen 8, which is now my favorite shoe for speed workouts - even more so than the VaporFly 2 or the Endorphin Pro 3. I'll need more time with Adios Pro 3 and I agree that the upper is its weak point. It takes a good deal of fidgeting to get a proper lockdown while maintaining comfort. The whole fitting and lacing takes a little while to get it dialed in. But once that's done, I really enjoy the run. Have around 20 miles on it so far and it feels better and better with each mile. The Prime X Strung will arrive next week and I'm really excited about it. Based on my experience with the Adios Pro 3 and the Takumi Sen 8, I'm sure it'll fit in just fine in my rotation and I have a very good idea of how I want to use it: long runs at a decent speedy pace on smooth flat roads with very small number of gentle turns. I have no problem at all with the stability of the VaporFly 2, so I don't expect any issues with the Prime X Strung either. Thanks for the content!

Same exactly with the Pro 3. Even on each run, it feels a little strange to me at first, maybe needing some adjustment. But after a couple k, it feels SO automatic. I don’t even like Adidas usually, but I can admit they knocked it out of the park (and I’m assuming also on the Takumi Sen) Crazy how different all the plated shoes actually are!

Hey Alex, great video! Something important I would say is outsole durability, despite being a bit more expensive I am guessing you can squeeze almost the double mileage on the Prime X. I assume the outsole on the AAP3 is the same as in version 2.
@AlexFilitti
@AlexFilitti Год назад
Yes outsole is similar on v3 compared to v2. And yes durability is important and likely better on the Prime X (but I wouldn't go as far as saying double the mileage ;-)

@@AlexFilitti I guess it depends on your footstrike. My AAP2 are just shy of 400k and if it wasn't for the shoo goo, they would be dead already 😅 But I do have a clear heavier wear on my right heel so not the best example.

I hate the upper of the Pro 3. It causes pressure-pain in my pinky. If I go up 1/2 a size, the discomfort goes away but then the shoe is too long. I’m befuddled. The upper of the Pro 2 is much softer and comfortable for me.

As a very cadence oriented runner, I really love the Prime X. Can’t compare it to the Pro 3 as I don’t own it but the pop and roll from the X makes holding paces easy at a high cadence.

Great comparison thanks. I’m a 200lb runner, mid-foot strike and have got the Prime X Strung. Really excellent long run shoe. I strengthened my ankles using the New Balance TC but for me the Prime X Strung only catches me out sometimes due to a stability issue on the outside of my forefoot. Must be a foot-strike issue when tired or on a sharp corner? On the TC my heel collapses, no issues with this on the PXS. Looking to run my first marathon with the PXS in April.

I got AAAP3 for US$175 recently. It is a good shoe. I need to put more miles. I was surprised by the amount of room it has in the toebox. It is TTS for me lengthwise (US10) and I had to cinche the laces quite a bit for a good mid-foot lockdown and I have pretty normal width feet (maybe a tad wide but use mostly standard width shoes). I think extra space will come handy if you are running a marathon on a hot day to accommodate the swelling. Definitely Adidas should bring STRUNG upper to Pro 4. It can benefit from a bit more structure. I also have Takumi Sen 8. In that one I downsized TS8 to US9.5 and I liked the lockdown better in that shoe (still have decent space in front of my toes).

Very interesting that you calculated the total outsole surface. I have flat feet so I used to use stability shoes and get knee pains.. I used to look for shoes or insole with high arch support and always had knee pain.. By chance tried the REBEL V2 and no knee pain.. So moved to neutral shoes and no knee pain.. But my right calf and Achilles tendon were always tight.. Got the Tempus and was underhelm by the lack of rocker and pop.. But I keep using the Tempus because.. No knee pain.. No calf or Achilles pains.. They moved the effort higher so I feel my hips a bit sore.. So now when you say more stable I pay attention 👏🏻

I detest the "pronation control", shoes should be neutral, anything else should be done with ortho insoles. It makes a great shoe for a neutral runner into a bad shoe. Same with the prime X2 strung, and agravic ultra speed. @adidas: What's up with this pronation control crap? You spent all that engineering to create a great shoe and then F it up by making it a bad shoe for neutral and suponating runners. just why? /rant over.
