Watch BEFORE Buying This Mouse! Orochi v2 Long Term Review

The Orochi v2 was very widely well-received as a great mobile laptop mouse, but also did incredibly well as a proper dedicated wireless gaming mouse. But how does it hold up in 2022 after long term use? And what about newcomers like the Aria XD7 as well as older competition like the G305? I'll review my experience with two Orochi v2's and how they do in current competition.

After being mouse addict for a while, the orochi has been my main for a year. I use it with a claw grip. If you like a small mouse, it's the most comfortable one out there at least for me, and I've tried all of them. Love it.

It’s such a great mouse at good value. Not many mice this small with good specs like the Orochi v2 out there. Wish I could love it more but 2 out of 2 went south on me and don’t work anymore. If they worked as intended I would’ve given them a hard recommend.

@@GekkoTechGaming how about double clicking ? I am hesitating only because I saw that it uses mechanical switches. I havent had a good exp with mechanical switches with logitech and steelseries mouses lasting only a year and sometimes not even that.

I've had 3 Orochi's over the last year, mainly just because I fell in love with it. I originally owned a black one, then a white one as I wanted a white one, and now I've bought a third as I moved home to my parents for 6 weeks and forgot to bring a mouse, all still work well for me. Was tempted to try a fancier mouse like a GPX or a Lamzu Atlantis, but I thought there was no need changing. I also think I claw grip it, although I'm honestly not completely sure. I also have never used the Bluetooth mode, don't see the point in it. Only gone through 4 lithium AA batteries in a year, using them solely on 2.4 GHz mode.

Very nice review! The part about undetected/pairing issues with Orochi V2 (ORV2) using Bluetooth caught my attention and thought that this might help address it: 1. Turn on BT on device and on ORV2 2. Hold the two side buttons and DPI button under the scroll wheel (you'll basically be clicking three stuff simultaneously) for 3 seconds 3. The blue light under the DPI button should blink 2-4 times, indicating that the mouse is in pairing mode 4. You should be seeing ORV2 in your device list by now Hope this helps you and/or the others who encountered this problem :)

Just the one. Yes, the side button could more than likely be fixed by swapping in new switches. Never tried it myself, just didn’t think it was worth it for me personally.
@tweekendz
@tweekendz Год назад
While others may find the side button positioning weird I personally love where they are. It’s the only mouse I’ve found that actually places the side buttons exactly where I need them. Obviously that’s just a personal preference, but not having to alter my grip to utilize them has been a game changer for me. I have small hands but long fingers and have a grip kind of in between claw and finger tip. If you have small hands but not long thumbs those side buttons would probably be awkward.
@GekkoTechGaming
@GekkoTechGaming Год назад
Ahh yeah I could see that working super well for your hand type, that's a good point. That's the thing about mice and preferences, hands are super individual between people. Not just in size, but proportions, natural angles at the knuckles, finger length to palm ratio, all that jazz.
@tweekendz
@tweekendz Год назад
@@GekkoTechGaming exactly. And having a smaller palm size the shape of this thing allows me to drag the mouse down into my palm when tracking without being blocked at the edges forcing me to then pull my whole arm down. Egg shapes are perfect for that if one has small palms and there’s a lot less options in this shape so I highly recommend this for anyone with similar hands to me, but they should definitely find one somewhere in person to hold to make sure they have good access to all the buttons with their preferred grip. My gf can only reach them well if she palm grips it. So people should keep that in mind.

If Fantech made an XD3 V3 with the same sensor, specs and features of the Aria, that would be an instant buy from me. Unfortunately my hand gets numb and cramps up with the shape of the g305 so I don't think the Aria would be the right fit for me.
@GekkoTechGaming
@GekkoTechGaming Год назад
That S2 shape is super nice, would not be surprised if Fantech ends up releasing an update further down the line. Would be a smart idea. But yeah if you have problems with something like the G305 the Aria will have a moderate chance of causing you problems. I will say, the G305 feels pretty significantly different to me than the Aria, the Aria feels wider and the thumb groove definitely adds something. I really dislike the G305 but the Aria felt much nicer. The aria feels more substantial, like it fills out the hand more, while the G305 feels more narrow and flatter overall.

Love the mouse. The only thing i dont like is that they put the AAA slot in the bad place and AA in the perfect place. For tryhard gamers it shoud've been the opposite way around... We want a lighter mouse for aim, but also a balanced mouse. having a battery all the way in the back makes it feels unbalanced and wobbly when moving it around.

That is a good point. The AA in the rearmost spot would be kinda bad for everyone. Maybe if the aaa was the only option and in the middle. You could try using a AAA to AA adapter. That way it’s still light but centered

As far as small mice go, the Xlite v2 mini is better overall, not as cost effective but with my experience with the Orochi pooping out on me twice… eh. The Orochi is much more versatile with the battery choice, BT+2.4hz, but the forward sensor could either be a game changer or breaker. The Xlite is more centered and safer.

Yeah… looking back at this that is definitely an exaggeration, you’re right. But it’s 60g with no battery.
