I suppose so. I've worn Stein spurs for years so they all feel quite similar. I certainly prefer them to my old geckos, especially on the sole, but I can't say how they compare to other popular brands at the moment.

I've got about 7 or 8 products with Stein. We have contracts in place and I get paid commissions on every item sold. I am not at liberty to disclose my % per item. The patent process is very expensive and you would really need to hire a patent Lawyer to work through the process with you. Registered design is much less expensive and might be applicable depending on how simple your designs are. They tend to protect the appearance or shape more than functionality, but obviously the shape might be the very reason something works well. My experience with these matter is the further you can advance ideas through the process on your own, the more you have to bargain with. If all you have is an idea or a half baked untested prototype, it's highly unlikely any manufacturer will be at all interested. But if you have something that's been field tested for 6 months; documented, refined where needed to the best of your abilities, Intellectual property rights in place or applied for where possible, and non disclosure agreements with anyone associated, then they will likely pay attention. But before all that investment, you need to be sure your idea is saleable and will in fact sell. I would suggest you get some opinions from local, reputable tree workers if possible, for starters. Have a non disclosure agreement at hand, download them dirt cheap off the net. Thinking you have a great idea is worthless if nobody else agrees with you. So you really must do a lot of research on work place techniques and already available hardware before you start getting in deep with an idea. It's not easy, but it is doable and profitable if your on to something good. At worst you could be throwing 10s of thousands into a bottomless pit quite quickly. Best of luck

I'd come to that conclusion regarding patents but was still stopped in my tracks reading, a design shouldn't be made or exist until a patent is filed for. I didn't know (or had forgotten) about "Registered design" and hadn't considered "Intellectual property rights". The couple of ideas I have are for the carpentry/building world but all you say is totally applicable: research and development. I know of NDA's and I guess it's question of taking myself and my ideas seriously (while bearing in mind the potential money pit). Massively appreciate you taking the time to write all that. Hard to tell. I couldn't forsee a reason for topping it such a long time ago because the mobile home park is only a few decades old. Looked like maybe a large pruning wound on the face of the stem, but the cavity is not so obvious.
