Bonus whatnot: A possible source of the name “Ratko” is Ratko Mladić, a Serbian military officer convicted of war crimes in 2017. He would have been on the radar of the author before the script was written and I also think his photos on Wikipedia look a bit like Ratko in Castlevania. Whether he was actually the inspiration is anyone’s guess, I just think it’s plausible. One other thing (and forgive me, I don’t know what you have and haven’t read): “Carmilla” is a character from a 19th century vampire novel, written several years before Dracula and set in (wait for it….)
