There are some people whose comments here make it clear they don’t understand there’s a difference between things that can’t be controlled-the weather-and things that can be. Like working conditions inside a building. Just because letter carriers face extreme weather conditions doesn’t mean they deserve to tough it out inside a crappy building with no HVAC, not to mention the clerks and mail handlers that spend their whole day there.

Do some research and find out the process for appointing him AND getting rid of him. It's very easy to find out. A board of governors is responsible for that, their terms are 7 years unless they resign. Trump appointed several and they were confirmed by the Senate (part of the process), so they aren't going anywhere for another three years or so. Biden has made an appointment, Marty Welsh, and I'm not sure if he is confirmed. HE will tip the balance possibly enough to get this guy out.

The Postal Exam became an extremely difficult hurdle for USPS applicants when it was updated in 2023. Only 10-20% of applicants pass the exam’s passing grade of 70% and go on to receive a job offer.
Hot take from a postal worker: there is no way to make working at the post office "safe" then entire job is a giant hazard: From the trucks, heavy equipment, weather elements, dogs, etc. While there are things they could repair or address, the majority of hazards are part of the job. Attention to detail and general common sense are the best way to avoid these hazards. Throwing more money at this problem will not fix it. If this lady really wants to help us out tell them to stop rushing us, the majority of accidents and injuries are from RUSHING. Your postal carriers are cranky and rude bc they are in a hurry to avoid being berated by management.
They definitely need awd vehicles in areas that get snow. To not have those on these back country roads is ridiculous. They are rear wheel drive for crying out loud. And some people are still driving the LLV’s from the early 90’s! THAT is ridiculous! And could definitely be improved!

I see that you're not arguing the point I made, which was that carriers being rushed and treated poorly is a giant hazard they could and should address at no cost. Maybe I am a little cranky today, I say all this as we are delivering in Houston Texas where 700,000 people are without power. They could throw some money at generators for our stations, it's definitely a hazard working in the back of a building with no windows.

Before the mail gets to a carrier it is processed in a building facility. I belive now mail comes all nice and organized when years ago you stood in front of a "case that held a slot for each mail box on the route" and you stood there for hours sorting handfuls of mail and placing in each slot that represented the mail address box before you toke all the mail out of the slots placed in order of the route in a plastic container load up anywhere from 5 to 16 + plastic containers into your car or mail truck to take out for delivery for another 4-7 hours or more depending on how heavy the mail volume was and weather conditions then go back to office and case more mail that came into the office while you were out delivering .

That is the response we get from management. We also were not paid for working 6 to 7 days a week when covid hit and the mail was like Christmas everyday. We still have uet to get hazard pay and the pay when Amazon increased the packages

I’m a NYC 25 year postal employee horrible work conditions…. We had an oil leak in basement where carrier’s work & supervisors were told NOT to tell us bcuz we would’ve gone home as workers complained about a smell ..some went home & were threatened to NOT get paid ..PLZZZ HELP GET DEJOY OUT!!!!
Have postal employees in NYC not heard of osha or the national labor board? Postal employees need to learn how to take the time to learn there rights and how to get other agencies involved to hold management accountable
@prdivamom the union needs to take pics and appeal the post offices investigation. When a osha complaint is made the post office is ordered to investigate the claim. The post office is notorious for lying. The union MUST take pics to appeal this causing a osha inspector to come see the issue themselves.
If that doesn't happen the local union needs to contact the national union which had a safety and health committee. In the mine time employees can refuse to work in this area as it is unsafe to so do. The law protects employees from having to work in a unsafe work area

They have no strike clauses so they really have no power to do anything. You wanna fix the PO? Fire 50% of management, stop hiring unqualified folks at both EAS level employment and skilled trade positions, hire full-time carriers and get off the temp (cca) employees, close/consolidate leased, ran down and underperforming facilities and retail units, bring back service standards, ect. Stop promoting folks just because they can put on a suit! Talking about HVAC....lol...you have to be permitted to purchase filters and do preventative maintenance to keep the air and heat going. It costs more to fix it when you "run til fail" ;)

It's not the mail... it's the packages and shipment. USPS should prioritize mail and control the load they can handle. Raise the stamp prices if you have to. Leave the shipment to the experts.
As far as "Temperature" in working facilities, I've worked loading docks for a major trucking company where in the winter it would get down to single digit temperatures and in the summer In excess of 100 degrees.
Just because your willing to be exploited and taken advantage doesn't mean that others so. That is why there is labor laws and employees have the right to organize so that employees have avenues to change worming conditions
The problem with USPS is with local management. The abuse they inflict on carriers is real. Mail delivery would be so much more efficient without terrible leadership.
Yeah 28 is a stretch. I live in Compton which is walking distance to Carson and it hardly ever gets that cold. If it did that was an outlier day for coldness.
As I stand in line of 15 people at a major PO in Florida and there is only 1 PO counter clerk, I wonder why. this is a daily situation at this major PO and holidays are even worse. I came from the Midwest to Florida and was puzzled why citizens in Floirda are given only the option of going to a PO when in my State of Iowa, the plethora of grocers have PO abilities. I could purchase stamps, mail letters and packages, purchase mailing supplies but NOT in Florida. his 10-year plan appears to put the USPS on a fast track towards privatization, job cuts, and negatively impacted service operations. It is concerning that, increasingly, mail delivery is delayed which businesses and citizens count on. especially concerning that mr. dejoy is a major trump supporter and with the many republicans in leadership trying to negate citizen voting rights, this is a major concern. and when ivanka trump received a patent from China in 2018 on voting machines, how can that impact our votes?

The past 20+ years, the postal service has been cutting the very jobs that take care of facilities to "save money", while at the same time beefing up EAS, aka management jobs. It's pretty sad when you have more management level classes vs maintenance classes at their national training center campus. That's what you get when 50k of your 600k employees are within the managerial ranks, and that doesn't include administration related employees. They say they cut jobs but they just create other positions and move people around. There are areas all over the country where you have over 130+ offices, maintained by 2 technicians! Lol, 2! Those 2 employees have a supervisor AND a FMO manager.
I delivered mail on ruale, city, mail and worked for companys that has the Priority mail contracts back in the late 1990s. Never have I've seen mail so screwed up, so unsecured mail being stolen from mail boxes , mail delivery never the same carrier never the same time each day and many days no carrier at all. Ever since DeJoy toke the Post Master General postion has mail been such a disaster. And No one else is to blame but this man right here. I honestly believe his only agenda is to take the US postal service into privatization. To run the mail into pure destruction. Th we re is absolutely no reason at all that for 2 years blue common mail boxes are still having mail stolen out of them with the key being used to get into the boxes. The boxes aren't being dragged with any auto, truck, bull dozer, not being blown up but boxes still in perfect condition with just the mail taken out of it in the Philadelphia area and surrounding areas. So someone from the inside has given people the master key to the boxes. Then any checks people have written for their bills are then having the checks ink washed out and made out to someone else and a different amount on the checks and many people have had to close their bank accounts and have a mess trying to straighten this crime out. I know that when something like this happens the postal service is or did have their own investigators to stop and charge and arrest the crimanls which is a federal offense. Of they are still employed or have done away with these jobs or positions with a excuse to "save money", which i would really belive this robbery that has been going on for 2 years and the very destruction that has been taken place I will say the jobs to investigate federal mail crimes is not being done or anyone to do the jobs. I will also add on my professional opinion that if the US military system is destroyed and goes into privatization the cost of mail will be absolutely put of this world, the sercurity of all mail will be a night mare and would never be as secure as it was before DeJoy. Private companys would be in competition with each other cut the cost of doing crimanl back round checks, hire investigators for any crimes even with a carrier, etc it would be the biggest night mare no one could even imagine. I saw this with the couple of companys that just had contracts for just the Priority mail . Old falling apart no heat, no air conditioning ,dirty buildings just to handle the shear volume of Priority mail. People stealing QVC packages , people that didn't want to work , people that didn't care etc. So the best thing that could ever happen is to get the old post master general back or to advise on how to fix all the destruction DeJoy has accomplished or others that have known how the mail system worked and bring new ways to get it back on track. The US mail service has been the best mail system the most least expensive in this world. Globally there isn't a better system than the one our country has had. Also the US mail service has many benefits that privatization would never get and again would add to the cost of all mail services. Like parking tickets, vehicles, etc.

Im not one that wants job conditions to get worse and worse and the employees have no say in the matter...especially since im a blue collar worker for over 30 yrs now. However, if you take those "horrendous" conditions and add in rain, sleet,snow,bright sunshine, wind, storms, hail, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc then those post office employees would experience what post office delivery persons experience everyday, year after year after year. They might also want to keep in mind before they strike again that theres thousands among thousands of people coming into our country everyday thatd think having a job with a roof over their heads is awesome
Wow where was all the concern when I was working in lumber mills? Hot summers and cold icy winters were the norm in Oregon and Montana. Don’t recall getting pensions from those jobs either…
My Governor and Senators have also written him and crickets. He KNOWS he can't be fired or at least easily. Biden got to nominate a new Governor's Board member, but I don't know if the Senate has confirmed him. The Governors are the ONLY people who can get rid of this idiot.
