Here is the real story. Bought a ZR2 today, list price $73k no mark up. Monday went to a local Ford dealership that advertised they had two Raptors in the lot, listed $78k & $81k got to the dealership both had additional $20k market adjustment. I don’t care how much better the Raptor is it’s not worth getting ripped off for and it’s not $30k better. I didn’t look at the TRX.
The zr2 isn’t a completer to a trx or raptor it’s just a good off roading truck in its own category, it mainly competes with Toyota Tundra trd pro and ford tremor and maybe a Ram rebel. But it’s a good truck it has lockers & good enough power. If you want luxury just upgrade to a gmc serria at4x. 😎 I think General Motors is doing an awesome job with Cadillac, gmc & Chevy they’re stepping it up ⬆️ so keep it up 👍
I think they did a bad job on the zr2 it's basically a ZR1 with a few upgrades. They should just called it ZR1 an the zr2 should of been a baja style to complete with TRX an raptor. I love Chevy but I'm disappointed they haven't done a baja style yet cuz that what I'm looking for but don't want go with ford or ram
I bought a ZR2 Silverado, absolutely love it, V8, lockers, I humiliated a buddy of mine in some crazy stuff up in mountains, he has the Gen 3 Raptor, my truck was also cheaper than his.
The ZR2 is just a bit more capable than the models you mentioned. It's really in a class of its own the closest competitor is the Tremor. The ZR2 is top of the mark for my willingness to purchase. But it's more capable off roader than the TrailBoss which would have all the capability I use a truck for. The ZR2 is good for what it is.
@@davidporter7051 yeah I feel like it's a well rounded pickup, but for high speed washouts it feels smoother than a Raptor and for climbing I can outwalk a TRX or Raptor, considering those 2 things I don't feel like the Tremor comes close. The Tremor only comes close to it in clearance, tires size, having a rear push button locker, but less suspension travel with garbage shocks. It makes a hair more power but I'll trade the power for a more reliable V8 with the sound
He hit the nail right on the head . GM does just enough and never goes above their competition. All in the name of advertising to be the bargain... but dealers kill their customers pockets with markups .
This guy mention the raptor like 💯 times😂😂. I wish someone can do a deep review on a Zr2 Silverado instead of being comparing to its competitors. I wanna hear someone talking about the engine and transmission reliability because at the end of the day that’s all it matters.
It is a beautiful truck for sure. BUT.. Fuel economy sucks. For Google apps to work you have to pay a monthly subscription, it is well known that the heated steering wheel does not work because they didn't install the chips that control that. And for an upper 60K (possible low/middle 70'sK) truck, not having an "auto dimming mirror on/off" totally sucks!! LOL.. Awesome well detailed video sir!
I was a GM guy until about two years ago...I switched over to Ford, as GM seems to be about two years behind..The ZR2 could have been a home run, but I will keep my Tremor with 500 ft lb of torque! Thanks Sam for the video!
This guys got a love affair with the raptor. We get it. It’s a nice truck. But he struggles to say anything good about this truck. Has a V8 with a performance exhaust. He says it’s loud and annoying. Dude, if that’s loud.... just go drive a Prius. Says it’s a gas guzzler. According to the EPA, this “gas guzzler” has the same MPG as that V6 raptor.
GTFO ford-bias.. clear as day. This truck DOES NOT COMPETE WITH TRX OR RAPTOR. JUST WAIT FOR CHEVY 2023-2024 models, which are going to compete with them. This is just their first real fully off-road vehicle. It is a gem and a limited model worth what it is. FKing opinions, everyone has one to fit their perspective... stop the hate. To each their own, raptors aren't bad, neither are trx; they each have their pros and cons. Oh, and, dude, pls stop w/ zed-r2....
General motors trucks needs a new truck engine. Still using that 6.2 liter across their trucks/ suv line . Why not at least upgrade the power to the same as the base model C8 ? It's naturally aspirated but makes 490-495 hp . General motors does things that don't make sense 😒. The sports car that makes more hp gets better gas mileage than the truck with less hp ...
The Silverado ZR2 doesn’t have 420 bhp, it has 420 hp. Bhp is the net power which makes it to the wheels. Hp is the net hp which makes it to the motor crank.
Why is it always someone who owns a raptor reviewing a ZR2 !!!! its laughable I own a 23 ZR2 and its a great truck and Chevy stepped up! So you are a Raptor Guy that is great but stay in your lane
You nailed it. I laughed when he talked about how the exhaust is too loud for people living in apartments. I'm confused as to what people living in apartment buildings would need a pickup truck for to begin with.
Yeah this review was bad. Like didn't even look at the chevy website bad. You can change the underseat storage. The interior shares little with a Tahoe besides the selector knobs on the left of the steering wheel and like nothing with a Cadillac. Do you own a Ford dealer. It's all it lacks innovation and raptor does this and then just gloss over the rear view camera mirror which is amazing because God knows regular mirrors are almost worthless in modern trucks and the selectable front lockers and what the actual offroad modes do.
Ford sucks period! Can tell your a Ford guy, your review is bias and you already have your personal opinion. Had both TRX and Raptor , this kills them both for everyday use and practical . Ram, Ford both problem products and junk!
Where do they find these guys to do reviews? Clearly he doesn't know anything about trucks... keeps talking about the exhaust like it is too loud meanwhile they literally show the borla muffler in the video. And calling the suspension "yellow" suspension clearly this guy doesnt have a clue
Agreed. Been a GM fan most of my life but after hearing about all the lifter issues with the 6.2 as well as the chipping paint issues, I think I'll pass for now.
GM dropped the ball on Silverado ZR2. It is nothing special. I'll take the 2023 Colorado ZR2. At least GM put effort into the Colorado platform and made it competitive. Silverado is nothing but a Trailboss with a front locker and DDSV shocks and they expect $70k+.
