Watching Disney's Pixar *UP* For The FIRST TIME Made Me Very DOLEFUL 

Yo this movie is so cute. I need to go watch it.

My dad often can't stay awake during movies, it wasn't Up, but the first time I've ever seen him keep awake for an entire movie is with Spiderverse. He cried during it. When Milo is tied to the chair and his father is speaking to him through the door. I don't think I realized how precious the moment was until I realized that it spoke volumes to my dad. When people who don't cry cry, it strikes.

I saw this in theaters and the power went out for about 20 minutes when it got to like 1:10. and the kid behind me spilled all her popcorn on me. super fun. extra popcorn for me 😕🤷🏼‍♀️

The beginning of this movie is like the end of The Mist, which is sadder?

It didn't even make my mom cry🗿🗿🗿my parents never show their emotions, except when they're angry

i’ve watched it many times before but i’ll never be emotionally prepared for the beginning part😭

I mean no one was ToT. I would have liked a lil fairy to have whispered in my ear at the cinema: prepare yourself for the feels

I loved how they made it about an old man. You don't really see this type of main character in movies ESSPECIALLY catered to children. I've always loved how Pixar tries to be new and try to make their protagonists something different each time. An old man, A super father in a nuclear family, a bug, a toy, a monster, a fish (who's also a father), and so on

I actually don't think it's nearly as simple as that.... Russell's childhood is essentially the opposite of Carl's. Carl was shy, awkward and more of an observer, but had always someone who got his back and who actively showed how much she loved him (initially as a friend, of course). Russell is outgoing, positive and likes to participate, but he is utterly alone: his mom is gone, and both his dad and step mom don't give him the time of day. But, as children, both Carl and Russell have one thing in common: they love adventure. So, by the end of the film, when they learn to love and accept each other, they give each other what the other needs. Carl assumes the role of a parental figure, outwardly showing how much he loves and cares for Russell (especially in the scouts ceremony). Russell rekindles Carl's love for adventure and, more importantly, for life, something he had lost ever since his wife died. Russel is basically the child IN Carl.

My husband of 28 years had recently passed away when a nephew asked me to take him to see this movie. I can’t tell you what happened after the opening. I hated this movie for years.

Am very sorry for ur loss, I lost my sister when she was 24 and I was 13 when she died everytime when I see this movie I feel like she's there with me

I’m happy I saw it at home. I had to turn it off and cry for an hour. I kept saying to my husband “why would they do that? What is wrong with those people?” It was shortly after I gave birth and I was a little hormonal.

Same. I was with friends and the hole theater was full of teenagers who were pretty loud (and a bit annoying in my opinion) but in that part in the beginning you couldn't hear anything. ANYTHING. Not even people's breaths. Everyone was so shocked. After a while you could hear people trying to hide the fact they were crying.

Lmao I use to watch it with my mom when I was little and we were both sobbing then, we rewatched it recently and we still sobbed... and I’m 18 now 😭🤣

@@Fanproductions there’s a part where Russell is talking to Carl and he says “Phyllis isn’t my mom”. From the first time I watched it, it implied to me that he was primarily being raised by someone else. Plus, if you watch the lady’s body language at the end, she seems supportive but still distant.

Another comment suggests that Phyllis is the Stepmom and that she’s the reason that his father is rarely around. The woman you see later is probably just his Mother, who has divorced his father.

@@Chemeleon15 That is an interesting possibility as well. Because Russell didn't say anything about his mother, I wasn't sure . It would be nice to think that the woman at the end is his mother. Russell was longing for a male role model, so it's great that Carl stepped in.
