Saw this movie 27 times in the theater ( don't laugh ) ... at age 78 , I found this movie so nostalgic . I wasn't allowed to watch him on TV ... I was about 12 when he burst on the scene ... my parents thought he was a bad influence LOL ! But once I delved into his life , I was hooked ... I've been a crazed fan ever since ! I thought Austin Butler didn't just play Elvis , he embodied him ! Loved Tom Hanks' portrayal of Col. Parker ... think they both are deserving of Oscar nominations ! Knowing Hollywood , they probably won't get them but I can dream. All of my grandchildren saw the movie with me ... now even my teenage grandsons are fascinated with their Nana's favorite guy ! I bought the DVD ... now you've made me eager to see it later tonight ! TCB Elvis forever !

Not laughing as I would have watched it 27 times with ya! I loved watching it in the theater because I was surrounded by other ELVIS fans & the sensation in the room was so electric!! I purchased the movie as soon as it was available AND my sisters & I will be visiting Graceland (once again) on DEC 8th for a Christmas VIP tour staying at the Graceland GUESTHOUSE hotel property. Now " DONT YOU LAUGH" We have also already planned a "ELVIS at the Oscars" costume party with a load of our friends. So . . Welcome back to The Building, ELVIS. Welcome back! @@justafanmiller7486 Glad to hear from someone as goofy as I am about Elvis ... my kids think I'm going batty in my old age ! As a joke , my son bought me 4 cardboard life size figures of Elvis in different attire ... I have one in each of my major living areas ... sure get "the look" when repairmen come to my house ! I have some very interesting conversations with EP on a daily basis ... now my grandchildren even talk to him when they're around ! Lost my husband a few years ago ... he had dementia and often didn't remember who I was but always recognized Elvis ! Just looking at the cut-outs gives me a warm remembrance of my husband . Nuff said ... just glad to hear there are other Elvis fanatics alive and well !!!! TCB JustaFan Miller !

@@ppresley9208 ELVIS FANatic for sure. Back in 2019 I heard about the pending movie think UGH another disappointment but I had a small glimmer of hope because the producer was BAZ. Time past with little news until I heard about AUSTIN BUTLER & I thought he ain't no ELVIS PRESLEY, then the lst movie trailer came out. I LOVED IT & AUSTIN but I was still worried thinking well he can pull of ELVIS for 8 minutes (the trailer using up his best ELVIS stuff but he'll never pull it off for the whole movie. Anyway I sent the trailer to all my friends and said I'M NOT MISSING THIS! HOW BOUT YOU? When I saw that movie I was overcome with emotions and so happy to admit AUSTIN BUTLER did not dissapoint, not for one second. ELVIS deserved this movie. Keep those life size ELVIS cut-outs. Station one at your front door this halloween - looking out the front door window. Thats how I lost my Elvis cut out 10 years ago. My son took it to college with him and they displayed him that way sending me a photo. So happy to meet you via social media.

For now will only say that for me, Baz Luhrmann’s frenetic style of directing works particularly well here- bc that is EXACTLY what Elvis’ life was: Frenetic. My husband, blessed enough to see Elvis perform live, was resistant to seeing the film. He too walked away impressed. Appreciate your thoughtful review! Stay safe & love much💖

I heard ELVIS all my life as my parents were fans. (My dad even bought that iconic white suite & wore it on EASTER Sunday/I have the photos; the one like ELVIS wore in his tribute to MLK). I first saw ELVIS at 16 via the ALOHA HAWAII satellite show & have been a fan ever since. ELVIS was very handsome, talented & was loved by millions. However some were jealous & allowed the ugly "rumors" to remain & stain his legacy when they could have set the record straight. I think ELVIS real beauty was his soul. He was a kind & generous person to others & he also loved & took care of his parents. As for his relationship with Tom Parker, Parker knew he couldn't manipulate ELVIS directly but quickly realized he could manipulate him via his parents, which is why Parker suggested Vernon be manager, it was a strategic control play. The 2022 ELVIS movie is extraordinary. Thanks to BAZ, AUSTIN & team who recreated & delivered the magic of ELVIS back to "the building" or limelight if only for this brief moment in time. So, welcome back to the building ELVIS. WELCOME BACK! We missed you so!

I was maybe 11 years old when I saw my father watch a tribute show about Elvis on some music programme and he said something like "They can't replicate him". The next Christmas I bought him a record and in a short time it became my record and now 19 years later I still listen to Elvis daily. For me there are things I would have liked to see in the movie, BUT we all must understand that the focus is Elvis & Parker AND it's not a documentary.

Saw him twice in concert. Saw the movie 5 times in the theater. Haven’t watched my DVD yet. I know it won’t be as spectacular as seeing it on the big screen. Some movie just need to be seen on the big screen. The wardrobe was spot on in this movie.

I saw him at the Houston Rodeo, in the Astrodome, in about 1971. My parents, although we went to the Baptist church all the time, were not like most others. Every time some new stuff came out that was supposed to be worse, my dad would say, when he was a kid Bob Wills had a song that went "Bring it on down to my house, baby, there ain't no body home but me" and everyone knew what it meant.

According to the 1940 census his parents top school grade was 5th. Dixie was at the Elvis opening in Memphis, Priscilla introduced her.

I have read two biographies since this movie and they really are kinder to Parker than they should be. Good Lord, he was trying to get Vernon to sign over more rights to Elvis when fans were coming by to view the casket at Graceland. I hate it when people, like Priscilla and Jerry say he was charming, but all conmen have to be charming, at times, to be successful. I haven't read the new book on Parker, but I will. People believe he killed a woman the week he disappeared from Holland.

@actualkarenokboomer3158 Год назад
What Parker got at RCA was all connected to him, not Elvis. Dolly Parton wrote 'I Will Always Love You" with Elvis in mind, but he never got to sing it because Parker wanted her to sign her rights over, which she never did.

This movie was extremely accurate. Very little of it was not accurate, which was at most. 9 percent not accurate. 99% was very accurate. This movie was from Colonel Tom Parker's perspective. Not anyone else's which to me made the movie amazing.

Eastland was a Mississippi politician, not Tennessee. If you remember he is the guy that the former GOP leader of the Senate in the 90s worked for. He was Sen. Trent Lott's boss when he was right out of college.

What it is doing is showing, even a lot of older fans that you can't really understand what happened to Elvis if you don't know the affects Parker had on it. I am almost 77 and it surprises me that didn't know what it meant to snow people. I am from Houston and the controversy there was more about sin than race. There is a site called "Portal to Texas History" that is mostly newspapers and Elvis was in Texas a lot before he was famous. With the Milton Berle show he went from being a "strange wiggly" kid to being Satanic. Before the Texas State Fair in 1956 there were ads calling him the "Gymnastic Vocalist'.

what do you think of the Priscilla making a movie about her and Elvis? I am furious. Because of the new movie, many people are seeing Elvis in a new light. A musical icon. Her movie will foster a completely different narrative and note a positive one. He deserves this moment in the sun. I am praying her movie never comes to fruition.

She already had a mini series about her book "Elvis and Me" back in the 1980's. She's altered so much of Elvis history to her liking, making her come out smelling like roses, it's not even funny anymore. Especially since new generations of fans think all she says is the truth, which is laughable.

I’m furious too. She’s all about money now. She has also had many contradictions from her book that she has then corrected in interviews. I am mainly sorry for Lisa Marie. She stated how many people have tried and failed to play her daddy and she said she was able to really love this movie. I feel terrible for her

I thought the rap music in the crowd scenes was really good. I was surprised in the bios that Elvis was terrified every time he went on stage, worse at the 68 comeback.

If you want to put Elvis back on the map, then do it with facts. The Elvis movie is totally biased in favor of his EX wife Priscilla Beaulieu who, unfortunately, is becoming more and more known as Elvis' wife, not the ex, which can make new fans assume that she is his widow. Alana Nash already pointed out some of the things the movie got wrong i.postimg.cc/Njmq3GZ0/Elvis-facts-Alana-Nash.jpg. Sadly, many new fans are taking this altered version of his story as the truth, so they actually will NOT get to know the real Elvis. It might sound great to many that Priscilla gave the movie her blessing. But the fact remains that she has changed a lot of Elvis history to suit her story. I'm sure he loved her for some of the time they knew each other, but in reality, she barely spent any time alone with him. They met in September 1959 in Germany and he returned to the US in March of 1960. He had turned 24 in January; she had turned 14 in May. Her parents consented in her visiting the house that Elvis lived in where he used to entertain his group of friends, hangers-on and invited fans. Meanwhile, he did have a girlfriend back home of several years, Anita Wood. Priscilla was the youngest of the several girls he saw while in Germany. There were about half a dozen others. But she was the youngest and, per her own words, they did little else than talk. She was an exceptionally beautiful young girl, but hardly as innocent as many Priscilla fans make her out to be. After Elvis returned to the US in March of 1960, he and Priscilla did not have any contact until 1962, the year of her first visit to him in Memphis, from where they (which included his entire entourage) traveled to Las Vegas. She had been writing relentlessly to Elvis and had driven her parents to despair (her words) when she went on a hunger strike when at first they did not want to let her have her way. She was 17 then (born May 24, 1945). In December she visited again, for Christmas. In 1963 she first moved in with Elvis' father Vernon and stepmother Dee, but after a while she moved into the main house. During these years, Elvis was away from Memphis a lot, making 3 movies a year in Hollywood or locations such as Hawaii. And during all these years he was also still seeing other women. Priscilla herself said multiple times they were hardly ever alone. According to Priscilla, Elvis had promised to marry her when she was 21. But as her birthday had come and gone and her 22nd birthday was approaching and Elvis still had not kept his word, Priscilla, her parents and the colonel (Tom Parker) visited Elvis on a movie set. Nobody knows what really happened there, except that some time during that visit, Elvis had a mysterious fall in the bathroom. The most logical thing that happened is that a threat was made that they would go public about Elvis "dating" a minor while in his twenties if he would not keep his promise to marry her. After all: Jerry Lee Lewis had gone through a scandal that people might be reminded of if the Beaulieus had gone public: Jerry Lee Lewis had married his 13-year-old cousin! After the visit of the Beaulieus and Parker to the movie set, all of a sudden everything escalated and a quick wedding ceremony was arranged on May 1, 1967 (23 days before Priscilla's 22nd birthday) in Las Vegas. The strange thing about that was not just the timing, but also that many people who were close to Elvis were contacted by Parker's people to not attend the wedding. The whole ceremony took just a few minutes and afterwards they were ushered into a room for a press conference (listen to what the memphis mafia guys say about them getting married at the 24:33 mark of ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p8blOqK90PM.html). You can hear what Elvis told about the wedding in the recording of the last phone conversation Red West had with him before he died "That wedding thing, that wedding thing. It was in there over and done with so quick. I didn't realize I was married." (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p8blOqK90PM.html). Priscilla soon became pregnant, but halfway through her pregnancy, Elvis already wanted to divorce her. 9 months after the wedding, daughter Lisa Marie was born, after which there was almost no physical relationship between Elvis and Priscilla. By then the 1968 Comeback Special had given a new impulse to his career and from 1969 on he was away from Memphis touring the US for an average of 200 days a year. Both Elvis and Priscilla had affairs during their short marriage. They separated in February of 1972 when Priscilla and Lisa moved to California and Elvis remained in Memphis. He filed for divorce on his 38th birthday, January 8, 1973. The divorce was finalized in October of 1973. Priscilla rejected the name Presley and returned to her maiden name Beaulieu after the divorce, stating she wanted to be her own person. She even started a business under that name. But after Elvis died, she soon changed her name to Beaulieu-Presley and some time after that she dropped her maiden name and started calling herself Presley again. She had several relationships after her divorce. In 1984 she met Marco Garibaldi with whom she had a relationship for 21 years. They separated in 2006. Together they had a son, Navarone, in 1987. She never married Garibaldi, although she had a much longer relationship with him than she'd had with Elvis, possibly because she wanted to hang on to the Presley name. Interesting detail is that Elvis did not mention Priscilla at all in his will; not even as guardian of his only child, Lisa Marie. Elvis' cousin Billy Smith and his wife Jo have already said that so many things are not right as far as things concerning Priscilla are concerned. Linda Thompson is right: i.postimg.cc/hjYL9bkt/linda-thompson.jpg and Elvis' bassist from the TCB band, Jerry Scheff, doesn't hold back and tells it like it is: i.postimg.cc/FK2GdjDc/Jerry-Scheff-Elvis-movie-comment.jpg.

I feel very sorry for you … you and Linda and any other so-called Elvis fans just want to trash Priscilla (and by doing so, trash Lisa Marie as well). Who cares if people think she was his widow … there certainly wasn’t anyone else who was married to Elvis, who would be his widow. His movie was wonderful and cast a new light on what Elvis meant to the change in the music industry and also the racial divide at the time. It also showed what his manager did to him, which ultimately caused his death. Don’t call yourselves Elvis fans, if all you want to do is tear him down. And BTW , how much money did Linda make off all of her books and articles she did on her ‘illicit ‘ relationship with Elvis. I feel sad for all of you!
