Watching Shrek The Third (2007) FOR THE FIRST TIME!! || Movie Reaction!

I’m actually so happy you didn’t like how they handled the kings death, it bothered me too because it should be an emotional moment, not comedic.

I think the reason most people didn't like this movie was because it didn't feel like a movie, it felt like an episode in a tv series. The same thing happened with the Hotel Transylvania movies. The first and second ones were pretty good, but three just felt unnecessary. At least, that's what I think

This was one of the highest grossing films in the box office for Dreamworks ever which probably means they really banked on people loving the previous two movies as an automatic ticket seller for the third (which worked). I think it personally caused them to not put in as much effort into the making of the third though and definitely falls short compared to the previous two.

I’ll be honest, this movie is pretty good, yeah it’s probably the weakest of the shrek franchise and that’s why people think it’s bad compared to the last 2 master pieces, but it’s still pretty fun to watch and it’s enjoyable if you don’t compare it to it’s preview movies lol

you know I love the massage of shrek series: you need not to be perfect and beautiful to be an good person you can be a good guy even you have several problems and being incomplete. expect for disney movies the villain always must be ugly and the hero always must be beautiful

I was quite shocked to learn that many didn't like this film. I personally enjoyed it; there were plenty of moments that made me laugh and yes, the king's death was one of them 😅 Shrek: "Someone better be dying!" *A few moments later* King Harold: *coughs* "I'm dying.." Shrek: 😬

All I could think about during this entire movie was "I can't wait for him to see the 4th one" because I know you're going to adore it. The third one has some nice moments here or there, but the 4th one is a lot better put together and the stakes are very high. Really looking forward to you seein it! Also, I dunno if you noticed, but Fiona's mother is voiced by Julie Andrews (The woman from The Sound of Music, and the Queen from Princess Diaries!)

I've had that harmonica bit in my head for 6 months and have such a hard time finding it and here it is in Shrek 3 of all places

I think I only saw this movie once because I didn't like it, so I don't remember it at all. Can't wait for your reaction to the 4th one! It's got my favorite villain in the franchise.

You need to watch The Sword in the Stone if you haven’t already. Classic!

Trust me, even this franchise forgot this movie existed. The fourth one doesn't reference anything from the third, and in fact it continues the story from the second, where Shrek is still questioning whether or not he should go back to being a scary ogre.

i'm not sure how friendly a youtube review would be but if you like merlin as a more serious character i'd suggest the 1998 movie "Merlin" where he's played by sam neill. i think its like a 3 hour movie though

I guess when part 3 came out it was okay. I was still young so maybe I didn't like it as much, or that it wasn't memorable. But as I'm older now, 3 is my 2nd favorite.

Even I watched it as a kid, I didn’t feel the previous movies atmosphere. The third part isn’t bad, it’s just…..different.

I thought Shrek 3 was ok, I didn't know so many people didn't like it...Also, the Wizard is positively hilarious to me! I laugh at almost every one of his appearance...

"Shrek the Third", to me, is not the best of the films. It's FUN, but not GREAT compared to the others. Each of the films has something special about it. Shrek 1 subverts our usual expectations by making our heroes an ogre, a donkey, a cursed princess and a dragon, while the Lord/would be king is just a tyrannical megalomaniac and ends with the princess becoming an ogre rather than becoming a perfect princess again. Shrek 2 went into the depths of Shreks love for Fiona, willing to change himself to make Fiona happy, and having the FAIRY GODMOTHER as the villainess. And this one has Prince Charming as the villain. However, the true "finale"for the movies, I was really glad to see, was "Shrek: Ever After". I'm not going to say anything big about it, but it's such a MAJOR step up in terms of movie quality, story, everything and it is a far better end to the film universe.

Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas I never get tired of them acting together

the part where donkey and puss swich bodies, you'll notice that they were the only ones holding hands when they were teleported which is why they swiched. Edit: The one who's always sleeping is Sleeping Beauty

Snow white's animal scene was always the best part of this movie for me. I barely remember anything else, but that one sticks in my mind as so strangely badass.

I loved the story of this film actually. But the death of the king bothered me

8:14 "An orge as king? I don't think that is such a good idea." Considering in fantasy lore how, let's put it in light terms, 'agressive' orges are, you wouldn't want an orge to rule over a kingdom. The fact that Shrek doesn't want to rule a kingdom and wants to just live a simple life explains how a better orge he is.

4th one is one of those “sorry about the last one we’ll do better this time” sequels. Like Cinderella 3

Sad fact: Shrek's brazilian voice actor died before their 3rd movie, his name was Bussunda he was part of a comedic show here in Brazil "Caceta e planeta"(I have no idea how to translate the name), and then Mauro Ramos started to dub Shrek after the 3rd movie, Mauro Ramos is the voice actor now of Shrek, Pedro of RIO, literally he dubbed a lot of movies, BUT anyways, for me this Shrek movie was ... you know I also think its the weakest one BUT still amazing cuz.. u know its shrek lol, btw DONT FORGET THAT PUSS HAS A MOVIE

Donkey's "AAAAHHHH!! They've got a piano!!" never fails to make me laugh. XD If you were curious, the song playing during Snow White's charge is Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin, followed by Barracuda by Heart. =)

You gotta love how the message essentially boils down to this: You don't want people to see you as the bad guy? Don't be the bad guy.

As a fan of "The sword in the stone" I just couldn't get into Arthur and Merlin. That's why this part is the weakest for me. Also the whole "oh no, she's with child" subplot.

Definitely the weakest of the Shrek films by far for me. -The setup is weak, -Harold's death is done in a weirdly comedic and kinda tasteless fashion, -The stuff with Arthur and his school feels tacked on from a different movie, -Charming doesn't command enough of a presence as a villain without his mommy, -The music doesn't mesh well -And the jokes just fall flat. Even Eric Idle, who I usually enjoy in a ton of movies, never even got a chuckle out of me in this.

Maybe the complaints about the movie stem around having the same villain a second time. Although technically the Fairy God Mother was the main villain in the second movie, Prince Charming was part of it. In the fourth there is a new villain and people like that one too. Maybe if they had gone with a new villain it would have worked better.

Yeah the third film has some real hit or miss comedic moments and of course some cringe moments too... but it wasn't like the worst of the worst. It did have a few good chuckles at least. Can't wait for the next!!

It’s definitely not as good as the other three films but I still really like it. There’s a lot of good jokes and little details, and the emotional stuff is great. Shrek’s whole arc of becoming a father and his relationship with Arthur are great.

I'm sure the guy to be knighted didn't die, but he really needed medical attention, most likely because the sword got stuck in his shoulder.

If you'll be doing more Halloween movies than I recommend paranorman

i didnt like the comedy death scene when i first watched it, but now seeing it again after actually losing a parent.... just super off putting. not sure who found it funny

I don’t understand the hate this movie gets. It’s a really good film. I love how they continue from the second film with Charming as the villain.

Prince Charmings play in the beginning is a Monty Python reference.

The 4th one doesn't have a lot of jokes and isn't as funny but that doesn't make it bad, it has a good story and is kind of powerful in some scenes, (no spoilers) but it's also a good ending to end the franchise!

Now yo know why Fiona is able to fight like that 🤭 All old castles had secret entrances (for the security of the rulers) so it's not surprising if there's one here. Did you notice the illustration of the door is " The Frog prince " ? I don't know if you saw " The Sword in the Stone " but Merlin is very funny in this too. I think Donkey and the cat had side effects because when Merlin tells the spell, they hold each other by the paw. The moment where Artie crowns himself is a reference to Napoléon Bonaparte who did the same thing when he became emperor of France.

I know the films are seen as going downhill past part 2, but I actually have a soft spot for part 3; it's my second favorite Shrek movie.

You know, I've always had this theory about the king's death, in that, after he turned back into a frog, by the time of the third movie, his actual age actually caught up to his frog body. And since frogs have a smaller lifespan than a human, he passed away.

I don’t get why so many people hate Shrek 3. Sure it’s not on par with the first two, but it’s still very enjoyable. I prefer watching this movie over Shrek 4/Shrek Forever After, that one disappointed me 😔. In my case, Shrek 1, 2, and 3 are the best ones.

Everyone hates on this movie but I think if they took out 98% of the ridiculous fart/vomit/baby jokes it’d be more appreciated. The ending also could’ve been better but I don’t think it’s a complete waste of time. Gotta admit though, the fourth one is more enjoyable and it never fails to make me cry like a little bitch at the very end.

2nd movie: "I need some sleep". 3rd movie: "I got some sleep and I needed it" That's probably the only really good use of music in this one.

Ah, Shrek the Third. I never hated it like other people seemed to do, but it's easily the weakest in the series, and it's flaws are even more noticeable as an adult. Thankfully Shrek Forever After (the 4th one) was a much better sequel imo. I'd say that what separates that movie with this one is that this on feels very phoned in? Whereas Shrek Forever After is a lot more creative and decides to do something new. It's such a shame they killed off the King in this one, he was so likeable in the second movie. And them playing out his death as a joke is so mean. I also don't like Arthur tbh, he feels very generic. And while I found Charming to be very funny in the previous movie, without the Fairy God Mother he is a very weak villain. The movie does have some laughs though, and I always love the relationship between Shrek and Fiona. Looking forward to seeing you react to Shrek Forever After (which I'm assuming you will :P)

I think the biggest issue I have with this is there are so many boring human character designs between Artie, the princesses, and some of the villains.

Second comment: The king's death scene was super weird, but they did try to make up for it during the funeral. I mean, they let his frog friends send him off with a song. I think it's a sweet gesture.

It feels more like a TV special than a movie tbh but it's still enjoyable. The fourth one is great though.

This movie was weak in a way, I didn’t like how they played off the Kings death as a joke. But the rest of the movie wasn’t that bad, I did like the bonding bit with Shrek and Artie when they’re at Merlins place. So this film was weak, but it wasn’t that bad

The third film is definitely the weakest of the four, but I don’t think it’s a bad movie, I think it’s just some tough competition with the other 3 movies.

To be honest, I didn't know that the third movie is the most disliked one until now. Personally, I like "Shrek The Third" the most, maybe my sense of humor is rotten or smth but it's just so funny to me. Two previous movies were also hilarious, just didn't hit me like the third one. And I hate "Shrek Forever" with a burning passion. I watched it once, when it came out and was sooo disapointed. I don't really like "butterfly effect" trope so this whole plot with [SPOILER] Shrek not being born when he supposed to was so pushed? Idk, I just didn't enjoy this movie at all.

So nobody going to talk about that Prince Charming Jr. is related to Cinderella husband Prince Charming ? And the mom is Cinderella evil godmother who died in Sherk 2? 😂😂😂😂😂
