The Dronkeys were revealed in an after-credits scene of Shrek 2. Dragon was mentioned to have been moody at the beginning of the movie and there were a few other hints that were supposed to be in the movie, but they were cut to make the story better.

The princesses being badass, especially with Snow White's opening attack are absolutely the most iconic thing about this movie to me, I adore that scene so much when Snow Whites singing changes from cheerfully summoning the animals to sending them in to attack

The reason why dragon wasn’t in the second one is when donkey said she was moody was because she was pregnant with the dronkeys but he didn’t know. They show in an after credit scene in the second film

So, idk if you guys realized this or not, but in Shrek 2, there are jokes that hint towards the fact that Fiona’s dad was the “Frog Prince” of the Shrek universe. First, Queen Lillian says that their first kiss was “out by the lily pads” and their bed and decor behind her is all green and lily pads. Second, when he goes to The Poison Apple, a female frog at the bar asks him, “Do I know you?” and he’s like, “Uh, no, you must have me confused with someone else…” And finally, it’s the thing that The Fairy Godmother has been holding over him / threatening to take away unless she gets her way. We don’t know if she’s the one who cursed him or not, but it is implied that she set up him and Lillian, so at the end of the movie, he gives up his own “happily ever after” for Shrek and Fiona to have one. You can also argue that Fiona originally had her green motif based on him before she was cursed. So yeah! That’s why he’s a frog.

Eh, most of the jokes fall flat. Especially the death scene, which seemed to not know whether it wanted to be funny or sad. Not to mention the use of “Live and Let Die” was extremely off putting and awkward. I saw this film in the theater and the only times I and my audience laughed was when the boat catches on fire, Fiona getting interrupted by the horn, the “pair of jammies line”, the body swap scene, and the “Somebody better be dying” line.

So I think Arthur is probably supposed to be Lillian's nephew or something. It would make sense since his dad didn't want anything to do with him. He was probably an illegitimate child he had but due to circumstances had to take care of him. (I'm assuming his mother is dead since they don't mention her) By the way he was treated at school it is obvious his father doesn't show any sort of favor since others had no idea of his lineage and bullied him constantly.

In Le Morte d’Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory, Arthur’s father Uther Pendragon disguised himself as Igraine’s husband using Merlin’s magic so he could seduce Igraine (and later kill her actual husband) while she remained faithful and then married the widowed Igraine while she was already pregnant so Merlin took Arthur away after he was born and left him with Sir Ector to raise him so when Uther died with no known heirs the bastard Arthur became king after pulling a sword from a stone to prove his parentage. So it wouldn’t surprise me if Shrek 3’s Arthur were an illegitimate child

@@matityaloran9157 It's similar in "The Mists of Avalon" only Igraine knew Uther is diguised as her husband. She ahd already met Uther and fallen in love with him at that point and was forced into the marriage by her aunt.

One of my favourite parts of the movie are the easter eggs. The one I love most is at 33:44 where the queen - voiced by Julie Andrews - is in her haze humming "My Favorite Things", one of the most famous songs from The Sound of Music, Julie's second big movie musical role (after Mary Poppins)

This Shrek third is my favorite since childhood, I watched it all the time and I always liked the various plots of this movie. The dramatic air but that also mixes comedy, the direction, the animation that is very well done and beautiful too and how this easily serves as an end to the saga of Shrek films.

If seen the in the credits on Shrek 2. It showed that dragon came back to donkey and show him why she was moody and that. She was actually pregnant with baby dragons by donkey. I know, it kind of strange. 😂

The saddest part about Shrek The Third is that there *is* a foundation for a great movie right there The opening 5 minutes start the movie off well and Shrek's heart to heart with Arthur in the last third of the movie is actually really nice, because it shows not only how far Shrek has come ,but being able to sympathise with Arthur's awful childhood and helping him get through it shows that he genuenly *is* ready to be a dad, without him realising it. And Charming was completely wasted tbh. He had the potential to be a genuenly sympathetic villain, as well as representing everything Shrek fears his own kids could become if he ends up being a bad parent Then of course , there's Arthur's speech which is *such* a copout. The result is a movie that both mianders and the script is nowhere as clever as the first 2. It has good qualities, don't get me wrong, but its overshadowed by some of the nightmare fuel imagery ,jokes that either go on too long or think they're funnier then they actually are and completely wasted potential from what could have been the best villain in the series Many people, understandibly, blame this movie for the franchises's decline. But I think the 4th one more then redeems the series and gives it the ending it deserved.

Agreed! Plus the father/son parallels with Shrek and Arthur were so forced and heavy handed it makes me physically cringe lmao. The story just wasn't as strong or unique and charming was less intimidating than farquaad lol. If it wasn't paired with such vastly superior movies it wouldn't feel so bland in comparison, but.

I see this sort of opinion on shreck the 3rd alot. But honestly, it is my favourite shreck sequel. (ik this is an unpopular opinion) I think that because of the popularity of the first and second movie gave everyone ridiculously high expectations for this movie which is why it's so low on everyone's list. I think that the story is actually really good, with the villans like hook and the trees, the princesses were the best part of the movie, Artie is a really great character, puss and donkey are amazing. (Also this was the shreck movie I watched the most so points for childhood nostalgia or whatever) I get this opinion but I can't agree with it.

I was already a teen when the 3rd came out which may also color the way I perceived it at the time. I do think it’s just a smaller story that needed something more going on to match up with the energy of the others. And some more time workshopping a lot of the jokes lol

14:21, the interesting thing about that scene is that in the original book Shrek! by William Steig, Shrek actually does have a nightmare about children but it’s not actually about being a father it’s about children finding him cute and cuddly instead of ugly and terrifying which frightens him since in the book his goal is to be as ugly and scary as possible (and to marry the ugliest maiden in all the land.)

"These are nature's Jammies 😊" made me laugh right off lmao. I think this and the other movies are a complete riot and I actually think this movie is as entertaining as the second for me. The storyline is kind of choppy and the jokes are cheesy and a little risqué for children but it's still so much fun. For me, I would rate them as Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, Shrek, then Shrek forever after. Thanks for the reaction! Can't wait for more!

All shortcomings aside, I still like this movie a lot. I really love Arthur in particular, and I'm still salty that he didn't appear at the 4th. That was probably my only problem with the 4th, actually. Give my lad some bonding scenes with Fiona or Lilian or *censor to avoid spoilers* please! Or give us some brief mention on how his reign goes so far!

You should watch The Sword In The Stone. It’s about Arthur Pendragon and Merlin. It’s Disney from the 60s, but it was one of my favorites as a kid in 80s/90s. And Arthur here might make more sense because he’s a skinny awkward kid in the Disney movie too. But he’s younger, like a 12 year old or something. Anyway it’s a really good movie and it’s a classic.

I remember there being an after credits scene in 2 showing you that the reason Dragon was all moody, as Donkey had said in the beginning of the movie, was because she was pregnant. She comes flying in with their little dronkey mutant babies. I also believe that I heard somewhere that Dragon was turned into a pegasus due to the Happily Ever After Potion. Don't know for sure if it was true, but there ya go.

I'm glad you guys watched this one. And so glad you guys watches the old princess movies because you get those references. I used to play the wii game of this all the time lol I agree that a dofferent villain wouldve been nice but having an idiot in charge who wants revenge via theater is kind of iconic lol Looking forward to Shrek Forever After!

I absolutely love the Shrek series, I was born in 2004, and around that time when the first movie came out my parents loved the movie so much I would watch it with them when I was little older (around when this one came out). I was around 3 or 4 with this movie came out and this was the movie that I would constantly re-watch over and over on the TV XD. Surprisingly tho, I didn't remember most of the movie as I got older and usually skipped it when I decided to watch the Shrek movies. I remember for the 4th one and the puss and boots movie, I was so excited to watch them and me and my dad went to watch both in theaters. When they announced the new puss in boots movie this year I was a little nervous that they may mess up the series since it had been a while since the last, but I've been hearing great reviews and I hope to watch the movie soon! It's crazy to think that I started watching these movies when I was as young as 3-4 years old and now I'm about to turn 19 and I'm, college already!

Honestly this is the only Shrek movie that I am not moved to tears. EVEN THE 4TH DID IT. I won't say this movie is bad, but I feel the others have a bigger feeling to them, talking about accepting yourself, etc etc.

Puss In Boots actually has no direct relation to Shrek. He's his own story from a 1550s novel then transferred to a 1988 movie and revamped into the Shrek tales. Now given his own animated movies post-Shrek.

The fourth was a sound conclusion to the series, so a fifth movie has me worried that they're going to ruin the franchise that saved their asses. "LOOK OUT!! THEY'VE GOT A PIANO!!" is probably my favorite Donkey line. XD Also Doris is best girl- I do like how they finished the Prince Charming story. Cause if you remember in the second one, they only got rid of his mom.

The fifth one is a prequel so it won't be a conclusion to the franchise. 4 will always be the conclusion.

I don't know if I just like death jokes and scatological humor a tad more than average or what, but I personally don't see why so many people hate on this movie, it has plenty of iconic moments of its own and while it might not be on par with the second movie (honestly tho, I personally don't think any of the other three movies can top the sequel) it's still an important part of Shrek's character arc.

I remember hating this movie for the longest time because of Ogre-Donkey; that scene was traumatizing, but not as much as the Spider-doll from Toy Story... That gave me almost a full decade of arachnophobia...
