It's interesting finding someone who's unfamiliar with the Looney Tunes. It's even more interesting seeing them watch some Looney Tunes. For context, this movie is a package collection of pre-existing Looney Tunes shorts, which would play before feature length movies back in the day. The original run of shorts alone lasted from 1930 through 1969, with a total of 1000 shorts created, which introduced some of the most iconic cartoon characters ever. So yeah, you've got a lot of content for future videos. I hope you enjoy them. 😊

Ooh, I've been looking forward to you running into some Looney Tunes media! So since you asked, Bugs Bunny is an anthropomorphic rabbit who can basically get out of any situation. He has a Brooklynese accent, and his signature phrase is "Eh... What's up, doc?" He is considered by some to be the greatest cartoon character of all time due to his one-liners, physical comedy, and rather nonchalant nature. Bugs often remains very calm and collected in very intense situations, and some later works depict him as a de facto leader of the Looney Tunes. He is the mascot for Warner Bros., has been around since before World War II, and is basically the polar opposite of the less edgy and everyman Mickey Mouse. Bugs is one of the most portrayed fictional characters of all time, and with 167 theatrical cartoon shorts under his belt, he is most likely the most prolific cartoon character. I love Bugs. He's one of my favorite cartoon characters, and I loved watching him and the Looney Tunes during the pandemic.

On rare instances, Bugs would be beaten at his own game by such as The Gremlin and Cecil Turtle (as those cartoons were based on the tale of The Tortoise and The Hare, where a tortoise would win over a hare in a race, which the latter would have won over no problem, but being too overconfident that he would win, the hare takes a nap and the tortoise would catch up and beat him in the race, it also satires on the Disney short based on the same tale) due to being overconfident.

Bugs Bunny is based on the classic trope of The Trickster who goes back to time immemorial. Loki (the mythological figure from ancient Norse mythology, not the Marvel character), Hermes, the Coyote of Native myths, he’s just that same figure retold in a more modern context. He also somewhat is typically a representation of the common man overcoming his betters with tricks and silliness.

I love how Bugs refers to the directors of his shorts and his voice actor as his "fathers." Also, yeah, Pepé's cartoons are a bit problematic, which is why he's been retired. Also also, I always felt the RoadRunner cartoon were hilarious *because* of all the raid fire way Wile E. Coyote fails. And the thing is, he's usually more disappointed than hurt. Trust me, some of the gadgets he tries are crazy.

The skunk, Pepe Le Pew was actually based on a real person. French actor Charles Boyer was consistently being cast as the romantic lead in movies with women who were like forty years younger than him. The animators made the joke that instead of him being super old turning off women, they made him a skunk who just stinks.
@mevb
@mevb Год назад
He was also based on gag writer Ted Pearce who saw himself as woman's man and on his creator Chuck Jones himself who was very shy towards the women and wanted to be the Don Juan/Casanova that Pepe is.

Alright so I am glad you enjoyed a majority of my film request. I want to point out a couple of things. One being that several of the cartoons were edited down for the film. The second being the latter part of the film with all of the Road Runner segments they came from many cartoons, but that basically how they all work as you want to see how Wily’s plans go awry. Also a lot of the cartoons were by the film’s director who was among the group mentioned Chuck Jones.

What a fun reaction and choice! FYI: in the music one, when Bugs is referred to as "Leopold", it's a fun reference to a famous classical conductor. Leopold Stokowski (sp). Among other things, he was well known for his shock of white hair, and his eloquent hands, which he used for conducting instead of the more common baton. There's a movie called "Unfaithfully Yours", where the main character is a famous conductor. A reporter asks him why he doesn't conduct with his hands like Stokowski. The character replies that he himself has insignificant little hands, not great large articulate instruments like Leopold. If you ever watch "Fantasia", by Disney, the conductor for the musical pieces there is the great man himself. Warners had a fantastic music library and orchestra. Many children of my generation, and the generation before, got their introduction to classical music and popular songs of the thirties, forties and fifties through these cartoons. Bugs, Daffy and Elmer featured in, I think, three variations of the "rabbit season/duck season" story. They are among my favorites. I especially love the version where there's a refrain between Daffy and Bugs of "Would you like to shoot me now or wait till you get home?" "Shoot him now, shoot him now", leading to variations of disaster for poor Daffy. Mel Blanc did, indeed, do so many of the voices for these cartoons over the years, and was, I believe, the first voice over artist to get his name in the opening credits. When he died, this sad, sweet drawing was made: www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1alt7u/speechless_this_is_the_poster_released_after_the/ The Coyote was our dad's favorite character: his endless spurts of invention, his determination, and his fate of endless failure struck a chord of understanding in my father. The design for the Coyote was inspired by a description of the animal by famous American author Mark Twain, who basically said the coyote is the personification of unsatisfied, suffering, needful hunger.

NickFlix, I'm glad you got introduced to the world of Looney Tunes. IT IS TRUE COMEDY GOLD!!! This series really is the one of the greatest forms of Competition with Walt Disney and other movie media companies. Now in today's society, this would not at all work fully, because I still find it amazing with how much violence they showed to young audiences back in the day. However, they've adapted and have toned down a little bit of the violence but it still makes it so funny, sometimes it makes my sides hurt. I hope you decide to watch some of these cartoons because they also showcase the talent of a great man, Mel Blanc, the man of a thousand voices.

Nick, this was literally a collection of shorts. The Looney Tunes were never really meant to carry a feature film. These were shorts typically played at the beginning of movies back in the day (when you paid a nickel to see a film and spent all day in the theater). These were made mostly in the 1950s and 60s, but the actual format goes back to the 1930s, so you saying you couldn’t sit and watch a bunch of these makes perfect sense, they were originally just a short cartoon played before the feature film in the days before trailers happening before a movie in a theater.

I am glad you overall loved it, but as a fan of your just wanted to let you know that cartoons original and for the absolute longest time we’re always over the top and cartoons were mostly funny, jokes, and can do anything that’s why the Looney Tunes Characters can survive any damage. For the last maybe 15-20 years most modern animated cartoons don’t have these kinds of gags, jokes, or able to survive anything, but are played more serious. So I am glad that animated shows like CUPHEAD on Netflix or HBO Max Looney Tunes show are trying to bring back this kind of humor gags, and animation. It’s just interesting that even as a kid in the early 2000s they stilled play cartoons like this, but some time later they just stopped this style or showing original looney tunes at all on tv.

Mel Blanc did pretty much every single voice but he was involved in a horrific in car accident 1961 that nearly took his life. He was unresponsive in a coma for two weeks until one of the neurosurgeons had an idea. He asked him, “How are you feeling today, Bugs?” and Mel replied with, “Just fine, Doc. How are you?” and began his road to recovery ☺️

Bugs' catchphrase "What's up, Doc" was put in the first Bugs Bunny cartoon A Wild Hare, directed by Tex Avery (who'd later direct a lot MGM cartoons such as Droopy Dog, who you saw in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Screwball "Screwy" Squirrel, George and Junior, The Red Hot Riding Hood series,The Tomorrow series and several one-off shorts, plus some for Walter Lantz including The Legend of Rockabye Point) he put in the phrase which was a common saying in Texas similair to "What are you doing" or "What are you up to?". When the cartoon was first shown, nearly all cinemas had the audience burst into laughter when they heard Bugs say "What's up, Doc" because he saying it calmly in front of a hunter (Elmer Fudd) armed with a double-barreled shotgun while gnawing a carrot (where you usually be scarred your wits out in such situation). It also could be contributated that it was a reference to Clark Gable chewing a carrot in the movie "It Happened One Night".

Bugs' other catchphrase: "Of course, you realize this means war!" comes from The Marx's Bros. movie Duck Soup where Groucho Marx's (the one with the thick eyebrows, glasses, mustasche and holding a cigar) character. Director Chuck Jones used this as a reference whenever someone (like the bull, Giovanni Jones, Ala Bama and other antagonists) strikes first at the rabbit when he's just minding his own business.

8:00 So every year in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, there's a general geekery convention called DragonCon. They have their main cosplay contest, called the Masquerade, on the Sunday night of the convention. And after all the contestants present their costumes (sometimes with accompanying skits), the judges need a bit of time to tally scores, compare notes and come up with a list of winners in various categories. To pass the time, the convention staff would play this specific Duck Dodgers vs Marvin the Martian cartoon. When Covid hit, and DragonCon couldn't hold the convention in person, they did what they could to make virtual online convention instead, livestreamed for free, including an online version of the costume contest, They knew they had to include the Duck Dodgers tradition but they knew Warner Brothers would drop the copyright hammer on them if they just threw the cartoon straight into their livestream. Instead, they got quite a few of the celebrity guests to re-enact the cartoon, piece by piece, from their own homes, where the clips could be edited into a video, which can still be found online today.

The Duck Dodgers cartoons were parodies of then popular Buck Rogers, a sci-fi series set in the far-away future (25:th Century to be precise, hence the refence to 24th 1/2 Century). These cinematic series (which was like tv-series before TV became mainsteam, one week one episode will be shown, which ended in a cliffhanger and the next week, the new episode would continue the story) inspired George Lucas into making Star Wars (orignally he wanted the first one to be called Episode IV: A New Hope but 20 Century Fox objected as audiences would be confused about the first three, it wasn't until later releases where the subtitle was added).

Don't know why it's called The Bugs Bunny And Roadrunner Movie, when there's barely any roadrunner.

Saturday mornings with pancakes and Looney Tunes. Nothing like it. You should definitely check out classic Tom and Jerry cartoons.

Ooh. If you find yourself enjoying the Looney Tunes, there’s a lot of things to check out for your entertainment there. Everyone starts somewhere. Looney Tunes have had a bit of a resurgence in recent years. But not as large as they were back in the day. They were everywhere, and are still treasured cartoon icons. The Mount Rushmore of classic cartoons. Plenty of material, and history to work with. Considering what this is, it’s a fair place to start on. Although this really isn’t so much of a movie. More like anthology compilation of various shorts cramped together to pan runtime. But they’re all technically short.

D’ohh! It never occurred that if we want to get reactor kids who have never heard of. Bugs Bunny (outside of Space Jam or those freakish HBOMax trolls) that there was still the 1979 Movie to educate them on the Chuck Jones classics. And on the skunk Pepe LePew, who’s only recently become a martyr victim of Cancel Culture, as a Chuck-illiterate generation thought his chasing the cat was “sexual harassment ”. (And that, after a column tried complaining about cancel culture with “Who’s next, #MeToo for Pepe?”)

Really there’s another one called Looney Tunes back in action and he was pretty much like in that one too. Plus you should definitely watch Looney Tunes back in action. Or like one of those other ones like space, jam, and space jam two I know I like space jam, but the second one was OK. I mean it could’ve been better but mostly just because. of like for two reasons why though one because they could’ve made it more like a horror movie, which I thought that that’s what they were going for but more like a horror basketball movie video, and secondly I thought it would be more like the classic like it would take more of the classic feeling but more like live action a little bit but that’s why I’d give that one a C minus and a half that’s not so bad but yeah, the first one A+ just because they make a cool 😎
