Subscriber @Badweather12 asked some question about the water control structures I used in my waterfowl impoundments so I'll do my best to give him some answers. :)
Gotcha, yes i had to pour a little concrete footer to prevent by-pass below and use sand bags and concrete drizzle to seal up the sides. You'll get it, just keep messing with it! Doesnt have to be perfect or look pretty @@fowlplayoutdoors68
Same idea as a clemson beaver damn leveler with the black corrugated pipe. The clemson beaver damn leveler is designed to manage beaver ponds and is harder for beavers to clog!
Cool! I may try that in my big hole as it needs to be done. Beavers or something clog it up last season and I had to cut out big section. I'm thinking about going with 6" PVC.
@@andersoncreekhomestead6378 What are you using for a flashboard riser? I can't justify the cost of what I am seeing on the market and need something simple and small.
I thought about tongue and groove but they seem to be fine so far. Oh yeah, chain saw will be ready. Lol. Realistically, I may never need to take them out. For the last two years, the creek has not been high enough to flood the hole so the boards are mostly to hold water in. I drain it from the other end.
Is that where you put a tarp over and earthen berm? I considered that in the bean hole before I build my flashboard. The issue with using the flexible pipe in that location was because it kept eroding out. Also, the beavers took it out once as well.
Ron, I don't have any goldem millet right now. The only millet I have is the Japanese millet that has come back volunteer from what grew last year. But no, I have not sprayed any of it. I would like to find out if 2,4-D is safe to use on it though. I am pretty sure it is safe for rice and barnyard grass so I bet it is and will keep broadleaf weeds at bay.
If you can spray glyphosate (RoundUp) before you seed that will help unless it’s already a mud flat. I did spray some of that yesterday to get ready to plant millet. I thought you meant spraying actively growing millet.
@@fowlplayoutdoors68 I already sprayed to kill the grass but I thought you should spray once it’s up a bit to keep the weeds from returning but I guess not
