Tuesday 13th November 2007 - Waterloo Sunset
After 12 years and 364 days the last two outbound Eurostar's as seen at Bickley Station. Filmed here alongside domestic services on South London's third rail system.
My son captures the moment on his mobile phone,
uk.youtube.com/...
whilst local residents Jennifer and Edward wave farewell to the final Paris train at 18:30 and the final Brussels one at 18:33.

That was really sad seeing these final trains for Paris, and Brussels. Via Swanley, Herne Hill and brixton non stop which was the very last day over 10 years ago. Now all services transferred to st Pancras international

It’s been 16 years since Eurostar pulled out of Waterloo for the last time before they were transferred over to the new terminus London St Pancras

We will honestly never see anything like this again. High Speed International trains which should be going 186mph crawling through Victorian lines into London on 3rd rail power. This shouldn’t have happened, but it did. When EuroStar first started, France was decades ahead of the UK in terms of infrastructure, LGV Nord was built for High Speed. When you emerged out of the tunnel and into England, the railway, trains and stations would make you think you were in the 1960s or 70s.

Nice Video. I rode the Eurostar out of Waterloo in August 2007. Wish the US had rail service like that!

@Eugeneandco Most of the Networkers have similar traction systems to the 1996 stock used on the Jubilee Line, both use Metro-Cammell equipment. Some 465s however had Brush traction packages, all of which have now been replaced with Hitachi equipment, which is the same traction gear found under the Class 395 'Javelin' stock.

@@mikekirwan5326 I think he confused for the fact that Belgium do use DC electric for supply but not third rail. Belgium use 3000VDC overhead. The 373s have a seperate pantograph just for the Belgium DC supply it's the frontmost pantograph on the power car. The rear one which is used more commonly is the AC pan.
