The majority of the film was shot in Nashville and featured many live performances from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.

When I first started listening to Waylon , as a kid because my mom had an album of his , I would crank up Only Daddy that'd walk the line . I dig now for all his great songs that hardly anyone hears . I play them over and over .

I remember seeing this at a drive-in in 1968 when I was ten years old. No one ever heard of Waylon Jennings yet. That was back when you got to see two movies for one price and cartoons. The other movie was "Hillbilly Heaven" with Tex Ritter. It's strange the things you remember. It must have made an impression on me. When Waylon and Willie came out a few years later with "The Outlaws" I became a big fan and I remembered Waylon from this movie. I was more into country as a teenager

This is better than Glen Campbell’s (Vietnam war soldier returning home) film ‘Norwood’ where high school friend Joe Namath draft dodger drives by in a convertible with Meredith McRae bikini clad as passenger, oh maybe Namath didn’t have to war due to being a only child
