A 24 hour fast can be done way more than only once a year. That’s just putting fear into peoples heads. Perfectly healthy to do a 24 hour fast once a month

I’d go as far as to say doing a two to three day fast once a month. I’ve done it.

Yeah, I do one 24 hr a week to create a calorie deficit. Have lost over 100 pounds and held onto muscle in the gym. When I hit my goal I’ll back off on the fasting. Losing about 2 pounds a week for the last year.

Proud of the comments section here. The guys spent the whole time poorly “debunking” intermittent fasting and answered the question in 1 second at the end by saying “eat breakfast”. Lol this is what you get when you don’t prepare for a topic well enough before covering it. These guys are fantastic on most things that they cover but “caloric deficit” is not at all the only explanation for intermittent fasting benefits.

I don't think they understood the question. He wants to know if he consumes all his macros in a smaller time frame, will they be properly absorbed. For example, can he now consume 50 grams of protein at a shot instead of 30.

Exactly. For me it's more like 70-80 grams/meal, but I totally agree. I've been trying to get that same question answered for years now. No one seems to get it 🤔

@@Cacophony314 They eventually posted another video explaining that your protein-absorption is determined by your digestion. So if you regularly consume upwards of 70-80 or even 100 grams/meal (which I do), & your stomach can handle it, then your body will eventually absorb & utilize that amount of protein. They never referenced the original video or acknowledged their disrespect of the question, but seeing as I have no plans to stop eating 2-3 meals/day in an 8-hr window, I'm satisfied with their follow-up explanation 😎

Dude, just recommend some easy protein sources and let him continue his fasting. Its very beneficial. I can recommend nuts and eggs. If you need even more protein, you can add protein shakes also

Been fasting for quite some time and I don't just skip breakfast also lunch and snacks..I only eat one large meal per day with a shake

I really like your podcast. I've listened to dozens (at least) shows in the past few months. Probably 1/day. I've learned a lot, improved some mindsets, & relearned how to approach many aspects of lifting in better ways. My body started naturally "skipping breakfast" 6 yrs ago, & eating only from Noon-8PM. I have never struggled getting adequate protein (200+ grams in 8 hrs), but I really liked seeing this question. I hope someday you guys rethink what they were asking. Still a big fan tho 💪😎

When u fast and then eat your body takes the protein much more and quicker in + plus u repair the body because u use your own dead cells for energy thats very good , if you do intermittent fasting in the morning and eat around 12'oclock and eat just protien first, eggs meat fish first amd then eat with it some veggies and other good stuff its very good for muscle mass building .. i do it every morning and then i eat protein 2 times after that

When there is no food in your body, your body needs to pull energy from other sources. (Fat and muscle) . If your body has been conditioned to burn fat for energy by restricting carbs, you will lose fat faster during fasting periods.

There is a thing called autophagy happening within the body when your fasting, the dead cells in the body gets used as food. When this doesnt happen your putting yourself at risk for a cancer later on in life. People talk about constant eating but nobody talks about time it takes to digest, nutrition absoption, gut and kidney health. Everything should be in balance, overall health should be the priority not getting a 6 pack in 30 days

Why are people on here so butthurt? They are not “dissing” IF. If anything, they are actually promoting it. The question was not directly answered. I have done IF for 7 years now on and off, and I have the same question as the guy who asked. With IF, you constrict your time of eating to so little that’s almost impossible to consume proper macros (in my case for body recomping body fat loss muscle gain). For me, I need 200g of protein everyday that’s about 800 calories of protein per day in order to gain/maintain muscle. They suggested to just “eat” because at this point they are assuming the guy needs the protein more than he needs to lose more weight. Hence, “impeding.” Y’all need to work on your critical thinking.

I fast for 4 days every few months. Only water. Extended fasting like this reduces your chance of getting cancer by basically 100%. Autophagy is a real thing. Very important. But on a daily schedule? Eat your food, get your nutrients, do what makes you feel best.

The studies that show intermittent fasting is helpful for weight loss are very clear that it is NOT by way of calorie restriction. If he actually was familiar with the studies he's referencing, he'd know that both groups, fasting and non fasting had equivalent calorie intakes and the only thing that was different was the time of day food was consumed. Many similarly inaccurate statements were made throughout this video lol bro science and misinformation at it's best smh

I.f. has changed my life. Before i go to bed i take a table spoon of metamusil and table spoon os apple cider vinegar,and dont break the fast till 1pm. The pounds and the blowding in my gut is removed after 2 months with a daily workout before 1pm. If you slow walk after a workout you'll enhance the effects. I.F is beneficial for me to get shreaded then i will taper of in 4 months to put on lean mass for 3 months then start the process again, and time the cutting with I.F by the summer.

So much misinformation here! Do yourselves a favor and go listen to Doctors Berg, Eckberg, Pelz and Fung!! Fasting is SOOO much more than "just skipping breakfast". 🙄 And the way they glaze over autophagy as if restricting calories is all it takes...piissh.

lol @ them not answering the question. Some people don't do intermittent fasting on purpose. Things such as work schedule, sleep schedule, also some people that have kids and gotta schedule things for them cause "intermittent fasting." I accidentally do this because of how my schedule is, and I can get my protein in and have been making gains. This dude's dismissal is laughable.

fasting is not stupid if you have insulin resistance or want to burn fat, intermittent fasting lowers your insulin levels and makes you more insulin sensitive, eating 6 meals a day will create high levels of insulin and too much insulin promote fat gains and many health issues.
