I am surprised they didn't throw tomatoes. This was at the height of the Irish mob, Whitey, bussing, and the Irish hunger strikers. I was a kid but I have no memory of this faker coming to town.
Okaaaay, totally, missing the point. Ireland has a horrible, bloody, depressing history at the hands of the English. My family lost their huge farm to the English and were tormented for speaking their native language in Connemara, Ireland. They, as well as so many other Irish, were discriminated against for being Catholic in Derry, where my fathers people were from. Many were killed for practicing their faith. My Great Grand Uncle spent years in prison for refusing to speak English and black and tans, killed their cows, all in front of his wife and children. The Irish were put under ridiculous rules and a law system that was difficult to follow. When an Irish person did something, "illegal", for example, build their cottage with windows, one inch bigger than the English allowed for them, they could be arrested. Then the English gave them a choice like life in prison, death or colonizing places like Australia.I guess that was better than kidnapping and rounding up the "red Leg" white, Irish slaves who were forced to work their plantation colonies in places like Barbados. (Many actually died from sunburn in that climate.) And going back to your ignorant, uneducated, clueless comment, I was originally commenting that, the queen, had some nerve visiting that area, at that time, because of her fascist bastard politics and history destroying the lives of the Irish. Also, going back to some of the original puritan, English cult members and later, trouble making, revolutionaries, the last 'witch " tortured and hung in Boston spoke Irish. The Irish were forced to comply or lose everything. I could go on an on about why the Queen sucked but instead I will remind you, Boston was just a name thrown on the already, well established land called Shawmut by the Wampanoags and other tribes, before it was stolen and policed just like Ireland was by the English. Hope you learned why "I was surprised no one was throwing tomatoes". I am eternally thankful for the sacrifices and hardships of my grandparents and great grandparents. Although it was horrible for them, it worked out great for me. The people overwhelmingly voted to partition the country. Some of your anger is misdirected to the crown and not your own bloodline. As for the hunger strikers, guess what, they were insurectiomists. Take away the romanticism of the IRA being freedom fighters they were nothing more than terrorists. The average English citizen in the 70s and 80s had no quam with the Irish. I'm sure you have as much sympathy for the Trump supporters rotting in prison too right? You people are nothing if not predictable.
