priceless! I was born in 63 in Boston..Grew up in Randolph.I remember all these anchor folks...love it! Much better times....memory from another world!
I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard, watching this. My wife heard me from the kitchen and wondered what was going on. So, I had to play the whole video again for her, and I laughed just as hard the second time. Thank you, thank you to whoever saved what was probably a compilation for the Christmas party -- or "potty," as Don Kent called it. John McLellan (WHDH - 1950-1960)
I didn't grow up in MA but lived here for the past 15 years and I had no idea how long a lot of these reporters and anchors have been on TV! And Dan Rea!
OMG Don Kent. What a flash back in time of Boston News and weather along with so many other News casters from Boston. I remember many of these old news casts and the humor that existed in those days...
Man... check out the 8:34 mark... I'll bet Joyce told them she'd never do another live shot from a bar on St. Patrick's Day... that guy was beyond drunk.
Ha! I remember ALL of these people!! How I loved Don Kent! Thank you so much for sharing such great memories!! :) This is the 1970s, that's my bet. Loving it all...and "shorty" Governor Dukakis is so funny! The "lesbian seagulls" stole the show though! Heehehe!
My favorite was when Don Kent left his mike on without realizing it: I heard "Jesus Christ, Ed, what difference does it make?" just before Big Brother was to come on.
Nice to see Don Kent again, and Bruce Schwoeglar also. I remember them well. Did that weather map EVER work? Love the clip of the drunk trying to be glib with Joyce Kulhawik (althought I would not have minded "eating" her myself - wink wink). The guy trying to get Manute Bol's autograph looks like the unholy love child of Drew Carey and Larry ("Bud") Melman.
These aren't bloopers, these are typical of the effects of seemingly eternal winter and cabin fever. Seriously, these are great and I am homesick for when I lived in Northern New England where my life consisted of freezing and hating the NY Yankees.( and suffering thru September 1978 and the slow torture of the BoSox meltdown leading to the infamous extra game and the despair as Winter gripped us once more) Loved the School lunch missiles and the following feature about good old Chairman Mel, a living example of how the Granite State even included the Granite contents of Mel's brain. He added the extra fun of wondering whether or not UNH would still exist long enough for me to obtain my Bachelor's Degree. Those were the days!
@Robert Kuszewski I left New England in 1983 and relocated to SoCal ever since. I just finished his 25th Anniversary tribute on YT. Looks like he was a character and was popular. My favorite Weatherman was Marty Engstron on WMTW 8 Poland Springs Maine. Use to watch him when I lived in Kittery Maine, that does go back aways though. He's on YT also. Use to do the weather report from the summit of Mt.Washington facility.
at 1:13 into the video it looks like the same footage of North Korean Missiles being launched in practice just a few weeks ago hahaha It's a mad mad world haha.... 8-/
