WCG 2009 GF StarCraft Final, Set 1 - Jaedong vs Stork 

decades (literally) later i still come back and rewatch. i played games (mostly counter strike and starcraft) on and off for years but this finals is what truly sparked my love for esports. the combination of epic micro, insane strategy/macro, and tastosis commentary; i feel so blessed to have lived through this timeline.

sc 2 has the graphics and all that but, really sc was something different. its so dark in a really awesome fashion and its really atmospheric I wish there were still sc 1 tournaments

People who say that SC2 is better than SC is that they have never played or at best of cases do not pass the bronze league and block a zerg rush. For me both games are equally good and perfect.

so many elements of sc1 removed in sc2, for one you cant even kill protoss reinforcements because they can just pylon + warp to their current force.

watching this makes me wish they never would have came out with sc2.

This is absolutely awesome, I had no idea this went on. Kind of makes me want to game more again, I gave it up thinking it's pointless, turns out it's a sport!

Let the haters hate! I love both SC and SC2 there is no point to compare them... If you dont like SC2 go play SC its not like anyone cares what you do. Just got news that Jeadong retired, so sad, but im returning to this video because this is literally the first esports match I watched, exposing me to esports in general, and I became a jeadong fan ever since!

All these people saying Starcraft 1 was better just because it was "harder" are just so wrong. By their logic they should all stop using their mobile phones and use fog signals to communicate.

In starcraft 2 the reason why its not fun to play in my opinion is because first the game is not a balance game. Protoss is hard to beat too powerful for terran and zerg. Second blizzard didn't allow you to play lan. 3rd blizzard became too greedy released 3 games, first wings of liberty then heart of the swarm and legacy of the void rather than releasing the game that it has 3 races in one game and then releasing the expansion with additional troops and buildings maps ang campaign like they did in Starcraft. There are other several reasons than this. Starcraft 2 will never reach the popularity, kind of gameplay, replayability, fun to play and a well balance game like its predecessor Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War. See, becoming a greedy game developer will make your games look bad and fans will lose faith slowly. Starcraft on the other hand is still popular until this day and I am hoping they will bring back Starcraft: Brood War in world championship tournaments.

StarCraft II is a fucking joke... Roaches ? Queens ? gay tactics and BLOBS ... StarCraft/BroodWar was fucking made for pros... you've got to play it with real micro and it actually takes skills to play it... with indeed some real balanced teams. Dafuq Blizzard stop ruining your own games... I'm telling you I am not giving a penny for their garbage anymore.

@NebraskaGrunt you can read a really good article about it on teamliquid. But a few reasons is that after Warcraft and Diablo, Starcraft with its great potential came out. This was at the same time where broadband and internet cafes all around Korea began to flourish. This meant that a lot of people were playing. And then little by little some chances were given to show SC on TV and such and then in the end it turned out really big.

starcraft truely is just like sports in north america this reminds me so much of watching all the UFC's always 10 minuites of drinkability before the first punch. Hope SC2 can bring e-sports to us.

what made starcraft1 so aweseome was though it was so hard to control and master all the races where still so balanced it was just perfect for competitive play.

They're actually much more different than that. The ease of control and macro alone in comparison is an enormous difference in the way the games play. The ease with which you can get together a 200/200 army and lead it around in a one control group ball versus SC1s 12 unit and individual production selection presents huge differences in ability needed to play well. This also applies at a pro level.

@TheShadoek If you notice, the FIRST scout is always to the opponents base. They never check any where els first. Just the opponents base. THEN they take all the minerals and gas like you said. I just think its weird how they always seem to make the right scout EVERY time.

I recently started playing SC. It may be the best game I've ever played. I think I like Terran best.

FIRST. STARCRAFT SECOND. QUAKE 2 THIRD. COUNTER STRIKE Best Games for me.

Actually that was a deliberate call they made, with the squad selection limit. Probably so players wouldn't go: select all, A + Move. These things do actually help define a game experience.

Jaedong is like a machine, he always knows the perfect counter-strategy against a strategy. The problem is that almost anyone fights against him by trying to be a better machine, but thats almost impossible...you have to be a better human mind, you have to surprise him, you have to do non-conventional attacks so that he's outmached in a fight witch uses spontaneous, not pacticed, non-learned chains of action...thats the only way i think:)

I have a question... Do they play of fastest or slower speed? Meaning i cant imagine on fastest, how are they able to handle all of the unit's micro...

@glittereeo you're correct, but if you get into starcraft you find that distinction starts to seem pretty arbitrary

i know its a joke nowadays when people say tastosis has lost their passion, but they are so much more into it here than anywheres modern day.
