I have been trying to find those plates can you tell me what kind of kit they came in and where you got them? thank you I made a gelli plate but I did not put the sugar in it and it has not molded yet has been about a month. I just keep mine in the pan I made it in and keep it in the basement where it is cool. I love my home made one better than my boughten one.

Girl, you have inspired me to use my store bought gelli plate. It's been sitting in its box since I bought it back in December of 2 years ago. I dont know what my problem is when it comes to different products..lol AWesome tut!!! xoxox

my mom used to use these to print text. She would type up the text on something and then place it on the gel. the ink would soak in and then you could do about 60-70 duplications from that. what ink would soak in so repeated prints could be made?

Glycerin is cheaper at Hobby Lobby, esp w/coupon. They sell an 8oz bottle instead of 6oz. You'll find it in the soap making aisle. There are updated recipes for this that only call for water, glycerin & Knox. I made mine months ago & didn't refrigerate it & it has no mold. #addictive

Hello all! Yes mine was a little tacky at first. Not bad at all. I use water a lot maybe that helped with the tackiness. What I would suggest is mist a little with water apply the paint and then clean off with a baby wipe. If it is extremely tacky try backing off the sugar some and make sure it is completely dissolved.

Are u missing some ingredient? I can't see how you got that thick of a plate in that large of a pan with that amount of liquid in your recipe.

The sugar is suppose to help keep the plate from molding.

Glycerine is a food grade preservative, you don't need the sugar.

You don't mention alcohol at all. I've also never heard of this recipe needing sugar before.

Gouache (pronounced Gawash) is very opaque and is hard to get translucence from it.

why would you need sugar ?

Nooooo, no sugar! I've had my gel plate for 4 years & only used Gelatin, Glycerin & water! Do NOT add anything else! Sugar isn't necessary IF you bloom your gelatin for 5 minutes or more before adding boiling water! Sugar can cause mold.
