After doing some other projects in the boat building process we’re back to planking the hull. We also take a break and go rail bike riding and ride on a very old train.
We are a Swedish family who have sailed the world since 2016 while sharing the adventures here on RU-vid. While we are still sailing our main focus now a days is building RAN III, a 50 ft sailboat that we are building from scratch. We post a new episode every Friday so make sure to subscribe and hit the bell to be the first to know when there is a new episode!

Not long at all, considering Salt and Tar took over 7 yrs to build their Rediviva. I turn 76 today and I do hope to see you launch your boat. I don’t know what God’s plans are for me it this regard.

Rome wasn't built in a day! You are making slow and steady progress and before you know it, you'll be thinking back to these days wondering "what did we worry about". Also, it's lovely to see the "Inspector" doing her inspection rounds of the hull. Please keep it up, but don't forget to take care of eachother. Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪.

The famous designer and engineer, Buckminster Fuller, wrote that all of the best engineering and design work in the world historically evolved from ship and boat building and naval architecture. As you already well know, on the high seas, sometimes for months and years, people are ENTIRELY dependent on the soundness, safety, performance, and functionality of their vessels, and so throughout history, the demands of sailing required the most elegant, essential, efficient, effective, and reliable designs possible, with no room for foolishness of any kind. Whenever I watch your boat-building videos, I cannot help but be reminded of Buckminster Fuller and his wisdom. You have owned several remarkable boats, but I think there will be little comparison between those and this new one you are building. It will be entirely unique, and perhaps deserves an entirely new name of its own. "Vera" perhaps?

Have you considered using drywall tapers stilts. They are adjustable and easy to use. It would give you good mobility around the boat

The hull is looking beautiful and I can feel the excitement aa well.. Great times on the Railroad too. On rail bikes and old passenger wagons. The gauge or distance between the bike rails seemed enormous to me compared to those in the US and the small gauge near me in Maine.. New England US...I have a favorite get to sleep RU-vid video call Nordic Train Sounds.. It's a cab view ride for 10 hours going north in Norway. I love the half way point in the video with rain and sleet and wind and the quiet clickety clack from below.. I like it too because there is no horn noise except in the first few minutes.the Sun comes out for the last hour or so..If there is a similar video through beautiful Sweden I would love that too. 😊

My brother has a disused rail near our family fields too. Lots of people ride their own contraption bikes on it, i got to ride a recumbent with one of his neighbors who uses it to go to into town. Really cool use for old rail, and the rail company is very nice to let us use it, even passes a loco over it every few months to keep the rail settled.

From the shape of the hull, Ran III is shaping up to be a comfortable but relatively fast cruiser. It's going to be fun watching it come together week by week Such excursions into rural Sweden are really interesting. Thanks for so much for the fine filming and editing.

What about steam bending some of those difficult, twisty pieces? Use a long metal downspout, some radiator hose and a sealed pot of boiling water...keep the system open at the far end of the steamer so you don't build pressure. You are a superb craftsman!

When Victory (Nelson's ship) was finally ready, they found that the ship was listing (to starport, I think). (They found that the ship was about one foot wider than the dry dock gate, for that matter). I will be waiting anxiously to see how your boat seats itself on water when it will be ready.

Your twist problem at the transom is a result of fact that the midships frame has a much greater circumferance than the most aft one. The common thing that is done is to taper the planks at the turn of the bile so it is thinner at the ends. You want to arrive at the keelson plank with your cedar plank full width again.

Idea for your Scaffolding. You have screws on every bulkhead form you could use those along the hull to install a bracket like a shelf bracket at whatever height you want or two different heights. And fasten a board on the bracket. Another Idea is using a rail mounted to the ceiling and create a sliding hanging platform to work from you could easily make it to adjust for height. For fiberglass work it would be perfect nothing touching the boat. The rails and hardware could be the type used on sliding barn doors. Cheap.

The railway rides were nice and nostalgic of a time gone by.......and good to be remembered. Love the planking progress. I will reiterate my past suggestion of renting metal scaffolding (similar to what us used in housing). No time in building, no waste of materials, and simply return it when finished. Very environmental as well. 😊👍🏻 See you next time.✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
