In reference to that podcast what the hell does a reference King Kong have to do with a Mark Twain quote about dreaming?? He says “the last time he posted anything like this” but what does ‘anything like this’ even mean? They are seemingly totally unrelated things
My far my biggest gripe is that he should make preparations and allow the books to be finished by someone else in line with his vision after his death, and the only reason he refuses to is out of narcissistic spite. But no, he is going to burn it down in a middle finger to everybody.
He should just let AI finish it at this point. Literally every year since however long it's been after the last book ASOIAF came out fan channels are like "Here it is, WOW is finally coming!!" Meanwhile GRRM has found time to do anything else but finish his main series... Fire & Blood, working on HOTD and a bunch of spinoffs, God knows what else. I would have taken ONE REALLY GOOD GAME OF THRONES SERIES from start to finish, based on actual finished book material, over every consolation spinoff show and consolation book combined. TBH I wish he had just finished Winds and Dream instead of writing Fire & Blood. He's never gonna finish this series, people. Look at the mans' physical condition-- does that look like a healthy man to you, one that's gonna live that much longer? Listen to all the vague excuse-making in his interviews-- does that sound like a guy that has any intention at all of finishing ASOIAF to you? NO. Neither thing. So we can enjoy our fan theories all we want, but we're never getting the books. At least I held off on investing all the time in reading the series to date. I saved myself the aggravation of not getting a proper ending twice instead of just suffering the destruction of the show.

I stopped caring after the final season of GOT ended. Then, following the 2022 update, i started caring again, lol! I hope we finally get the damn book! The hype is real
Dude it's the blue rose that does it for me. Words Of Wisdom and a blue rose? and then quoting William Faulkner who he always quotes about "the human heart in conflict with itself" and everything. I think George posted that when he wrote the chapter in which he reveal's Jon's parentage, which he says is one of the biggest mysteries in the series and is supposed to be revealed in BOOK SIX (he has said so himself many times), and the winter rose is of course what connects Dany's vision in the House of the undying and Jon Snow, and Lyanna Stark; so my guess is that he just finished that chapter or Jon's arc in TWOW (if he survives of course which isn't a given).
I started reading the books in the middle of covid. After the first 2, I told my brother that I FEEL a TWoW announcement coming. I'll continue after it's announced. I decided to reread and then continue a few months ago. I've just started Feast.
I've been seeing so many of these videos, all within the last month or so, I haven't watched them all so I don't know if it's just a load of rave about the same thing, but I'm cautiously excited.
Its hideous that in that 13 years I started and finished elementary school, finished high school, and started uni and WOW hasn't come out yet. In that pace I will probably become a profesor before it happens.
Please never use talking thrones as a source for anything, the guys whole channel is click bait and just straight up making stuff up and presenting it as truth
@Grewyn7 are pretty awful? Well, that's your opinion, bro. The chapters with Cercei in Feast were fun. I also enjoyed the chapters with Brianne. Dance also had great moments
George confirmed two days ago the book is not coming. I've read the books, they are cool, but I can't recommend them if there's no resolution. Also, the fact that "A Dance..." doesn't really have any sort of "ending" and finishes with more than one cliffhanger doesn't really help.
my honest opinion is that D andD f'd his story so bad that if he publishes his own version there will be severe backlash upon getting it published. maybe he is tired of tending the garden he calls ASOIF
I also believe this, and, I kinda understand the man. I only wish that, if this is the case, he could just stop lying about his progress and admit "look, to be honest, I'm not working on ASoIaF", so everyone can just move on. He seems to already have moved on.
The 911 reference is awesome.. but I think george is stuck and has been stuck for a while.. he has so much to keep track of and we know that he is someone who will rewrite quite a lot an if he changes something within a story that's so interlocking it has a cascading effect
I think its as simple as that for years he didn't write those stories. The writing stopped basically as the show came out, the pressure likely got to him.. but lets hope the books are coming. I get the feeling that this is the hardest one to write, the last book should be just a conclusion of all that set up.
Never read those books or watched the show, but the delusional fans of ASOIAF are all the entertainment I need. 😂 There are so many other authors to focus your time on honestly.

9 years ago season 5 had finished If he wrote half a page a day every day (80-90 words) TWOW would be longer than ADWD and out now Considering he already had chunks already written that he cut from dance this is an insanely slow writing pace
But he doesn't sit down and write, we all know that, 10 to 20% of thje book is ADWD , that by the way if you didnt know originally the fourth book was going to be called ADWD but it was to big that it was split in two and even then there is still parts of it in Winds, but going back to my original point, he is a gardener he writes he reads again feels its not good throws it out and tries again. And he can do that endlessly until he is satisfied, he has no structure he has ideas i plants and sees where it takes him and if he doesnt like it he takes them out and plants again.
Could be winds of winter but could also be a celebration of the elden ring show or movie coming out that was leaked by hackers of fromsoft I don't know which one I'm more excited for.
The problem is that he has a whole other book to write. He'll never finish this series unless he drops them both at the same time. If he drops Winds he'll announce that it has to be an 8 book series now.

he has been done with 3/4 for 10 years now. i remember reading excerpts from his book 10 yeasr ago, telling me that it is finished soon. are you kidding me??
“We are getting closer…” No you aren’t. This man is not releasing this book until he passes. Why? He doesn’t want internet children getting mad at him for his decisions. If the books come anywhere close to the show you kids will be mad. If he writes anything other than what you kids have thought out in your heads, you kids will be mad. It’s lose/lose for him. He will sit back and collect his HBO checks and release this book when he is gone. Then he doesn’t have to worry about “fans.”

it will be in your bookshop before march 2029, and if it doesn't happen come back and add another 5 years to that and rinse and repeat until it comes out or he dies.
I'm so glad I never bothered to read the books. It's bad enough to invest so much in the show for it to all be nothing but a waste. I'd be even more pissed if I started on a book series that's never getting finished. I mean, come on. He's been sallying around putting out nothing but side projects like WOIAF and Fire & Blood instead of finishing his main series for YEARS. I'd rather have had one amazing 10-season Game of Thrones based on a finished book series, that I could actually enjoy re-watching, than all the consolation spinoff shows in the world-- like I seriously don't care about HOTD at all except for the fact it's all we're getting to redeem the failure of the original show. Unless he hires a ghost writer or makes provisions in his estate for someone to finish the books for him (and he won't), don't get your hopes up. He should seriously just let AI finish off the series. Martin lost his motivation a long time ago and now he's old and unhealthy AF.
consider if it truly never gets finished to still read it, the uncertainty makes it so bad. several plots and entire characters in the books are missing from the show and to me are so damn interesting.
@@Blackdeathgaming-yv1kk I feel the same way, but knowing those characters are not going to have any resolution makes me now want to touch the books ever again. And the fact that "A Dance" doesn't even have an "ending", and finished with cliffhangers doesn't help, either.
It wasn’t George’s fault GoT s8 was bad though right? The books weren’t even completed up until that point and the screenwriters decided on the ending. They could have probably delayed it a bit but HOTD is a good show atleast.
