One day while my grandfather and I were discussing our racing careers and he asked me this question! "Do you know how to have a $1,000,000.00 💵 dollar's in the bank while you have a racing career?." I said NO! You start with $2,000,000.00 💵 dollar's in the bank when you start racing! ...lol...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
It’s very obvious you love what you do and really care about your customers and products. You’re always involved and personable with your customers. That’s something you rarely see.
What a compliment to know you are the engine builder of the fastest cars on the planet. Just walking down the line, we did that motor, that one too, yep that one's ours. Amazing.
Its very interesting to see what it takes to get a car down the track.. Its all skill and knowledge to out perform the last run.. Keep it up. I enjoy the thrills when thing go right.. But it is what it is. Love it!!!!
Those Lambo's and Viper's got to be the best for these 1/2 mile and full mile racing because of the aerodynamics that they have compared to some of the other cars
Honestly Steve I am one of those fullaz that used to fast forward when other guys try to explain data logs etc, but that was really interesting and gives a better understanding of tunes, been following since the birth of Mullet's engine, not knowing you built and tuned V10 Vipers, love the content and informative
This is cool but I admit I really enjoyed the 1/2 mile semi truck drag racing in Texas. Looks like the big problem with 1/2 mile racing is not many places guys can test before going to an event.
Steve you're an amazing engine builder all your years of experience and research and development pays off your stuff is number one I hope you all your engines break all the records love what you do
So,so glad you made this particular video as I’m just getting into land speed racing and being in Michigan there are very few Midwest opportunities. I did not know this group existed until this video. And love that your engines are in such diverse racing conditions. Thanks Steve!
So amazing what he can make these engines accomplish! I am blown away at every vid he posts. Such a smart man that is so nice to share his knowledge. It shows that you can show what and how you do what you do, but only few can do what you do. His abilities are phenomenal! Steve is a perfect example of the type of guy that will give you all the info on how to beat him. Then he just crushes the compatriots with his awesome! Thanks for making me better at my hobbie of love.
Interesting tech ; I am still in the carburetor world . Amazing what you can do with EFI when it all functions correctly. Great cars at this event. Thank you.
I watched a few times over the past year or so but ill be honest ive been really hooked in since the cleetus engine rebuild series, Great channel Steve been watching your back log of videos. Keep it up!
I'm from Michiganas well and we have so many beautiful cars here grew up around every car you can think of. Love cars went away for a while ans getting back to my love
Thank you for taking the time at the track and pits to record and explain what you were doing, why, AND the reasoning involved. You could've easily spent that time with people there instead of for "us"; NOT that you would shortchange "them". Thank you for sharing your knowledge with confidence that you don't need to crowd it with more info than is needed, drama, or overstimulation. It's NICE to not have extra "squirrels" to ignore. Thank you for doing what you enjoy even if at the expense of fewer views and immediate gratification. I see a genuineness and integrity, in addition to heap-loads of knowledge and skill, that is seldom publicly shown but is invaluable in every aspect of society and one's life. I tried to not sound like I'm gushing on you but I don't know how else it could've been "said" without sounding ummmm, exuberant; you're valued and making a difference. Off topic -- I wish more people realized and experienced the joy that can be had with the last generation of GM's B-Body, including long roofs and Fleetwoods.
I’ve seen you for years in the drag and drive videos. Started watching your channel early this year and I really enjoy the detail and info you share. You seem like a really chill guy and all around good people. Not a very common thing for business owners. I never knew how much you are into exotic power plants. Seems like you have it going on and deserve what good fortune comes your way.
It took me a min to figure out why you we're running the Big fuel pump off the front of the motor. I forgot you did a handful of years building "pro-stock" motors for the NHRA That's how they run the fuel pumps on Top Fuel motors soo cool how you take a little from here and a little from there and build something just amazing like your and I want to say "YOUR" SMX Combo soo cool man....
The update at the end of video was legendary. Does Steve Morris do ALL types of typical modern engines? I was under the impression that it was just his engine line, and then typical LS or BBC/BBF stuff. Cool!
If you review his videos from last month, he has a couple where he goes around the shop and points out some of the projects they are working on. Lots of different stuff on the burner. He showed a Barra project that ought to be kickass!!
His main stuff is the domestic V8 stuff for sure. He does do select projects for others. Barra's, 2JZ's, V10's and so on. The Devel engine was his own block, not just two LS engines bolted together.
Jeff Bianchi lives across the lake from me. I helped get his vehicles out of the Lake. Seems like a good guy from the little bit I've talked with him. My brother takes care of his pier and boat lifts.
You should have a hart to hart with Clark, have him do a proper burnout and launch the car harder off the line! Getting the tires warmer before the one / two shift!
I was thinking the exact same thing. He needs to get those tires hot before he launches or else he defeats the purpose of even having those tires, especially with that horsepower potential that is waiting to be unleashed.
@@Tomquik1 doesnt make much difference on an airstrip, these arent prepped like drag strips, there is dirt and dust all over, thats why you dont see some of these guys do burnouts, most have tested both ways, i do think he could leave with a little more rpm but then again getting 3k hp to hook on a asphalt road is tough.
sorry to get back so late. i'm old. last time down the 1320 was 1973. any way your aluminum rods. in my day you would be lucky to get 8 passes on ina t/f car.better metal now i guess. i destroyed my share of aluminum rods and titainium retainers. they didn't just break.they turn to mush. the metalurgist suggested harmonics was the cause.crane cams had the same problem.be sure of the quality of the metal. good luck.
The one car I would like would be the Fairlane, maby better with one of your V10's would be excellent, thanks for sharing with us, excellent video, can't wait till you get yours back on the track, still waiting to hear their excuses, sad they can't use the information to better them, great videos, cool, all the best to yous and your loved ones
I really enjoyed this video, and the engines you and your crew build are sick bro and they are winning, So fast. @SteveMorrisEngines The style of content you do is so good and very informative and I look forward to everything you're going to do. " Good Luck " Oh yer I'm a new subscriber via Cleetus Mcfarland.
Steve I have dreamt of building engines like you do since I was about 8 or 9 I just turned 29 been working on cars since a teen but still never been financially stable enough to build an engine I just got a good job so hopefully soon I can build something with as much passion as you put into your engines
18:11 Doesn’t someone make an auto-trans with the gear-reduction needed for racing? I totally understand the highway usefulness of 3 or 2:1 ratio range. I recall years ago a Camaro having a 3.08:1 ratio… Thought that was a tall gear ratio in those days, 1970’s possibly. The GV system sure has been in some discussions lately. (Touchy subject currently). ||| 22:15 - Drove a 1963 Galaxy, 390 C.I., manual trans., floor mounted four speed shifter. same color. The previous owner ran it at Irwindale, CA., for fun. It made a bunch of noise, but seemed sluggish. (Heavy car also). Someone set the valve lash at 30 thousandths, sounded like a threshing machine. Was not sure of the cam spec.’s, (was set like a 30/30 Ford cam of way back), I set the lash at 15 thousandths out of caution. What a difference in the engine sound, had a nice mellow idle lope. (Could not detect before).
The ignition timing is interesting to me from what I see there. Wanna say more about that? ....... and, how does boost affect air velocity and it's limitation(mach speed)?
My favorite band and my favorite engine builder are from Michigan I’m only 7 hours away I think I need to make a road trip there when I get the Camaro running
