@@CRAPO2011 The problem is so many other companies copy Audi's styling cues. Back in 2013 when the c7 S6 came out with LED headlights it was rad. Hell, it was in 2 Superbowl commercials. You don't get that much exposure is you're boring.

@@Mondo762 True many did copy that very roofline , the waterfall huge grille and then in 2006ish the headlight LED accent craze. After that Audi has somewhat stagnated stylistically even the second gen R8 lost is unique side blade. I will say Audi did step up with the Q8 it has some character and I'm not one of those suc/cuv loving people Id like to see them put some of that pizazz into the bread and butter sedans.

Probably wouldn't do too well. Mine barely tops out at a little over 140MPH. That's stock though so with a little tuning you might be able to squeeze a little more out of it.

@@LIamaLlama554 A rented Mustang GT beat his old record, with no scout cars or much countermeasures, why not double-handed with one less fuel tank and a lot more support? Throw on some better tires and electronics with a second set of eyes and one extra pit stop, who knows. It's probably too late as traffic and cop patrols are getting back to normal. That record will stand till the next pandemic or apocalypse.

Yeah, even though many pickup trucks could be easily modded to get up to 150+ mph, it's a whole different animal to engineer it in a way that it can comfortably sit at that pace for a 3,000 mile trip. I think that's why they primarily choose German cars meant for cruising the Autobahn, just leave it to the Audi engineers with multiple PhDs to do all the heavy lifting.

Love the Cannonball as well as these guys so just an honest question. Why have the brake kill switch on this one if you have 3M reflective chevrons on the rear bumper? You'll get lit up regardless

When you said the S6 looks like a Taurus I cringed a lil cause it does, can we agree that the S6 with that body was designed before the Taurus and Ford borrowed styling cues to make their car look good. Great stories as always, wish I could do a Cannonball Run here in Canada coast to coast

I wouldn't trust a Ford to sustain 130-150 mph for long distances. The Taurus PPV with the 3.5 EcoBoost can do it but for hundreds of miles at that sustained speed? Not sure. Stuff might start rattling, shaking, or coming off lol

Being a trucker, I had to do a double take on the white Freightliner ramming into your car. There's a sizable trucking company based in Arizona that employs a lot of drivers who habitually run into stuff. A good number of their trucks are white Freightliners.

yeah but even so, the drag profile of the truck is so much bigger than a car, at high speeds your mpg would be terrible, , you would end up losing speed and the time saved from fuel stops wouldn't make up for it. Maybe if you lowered and chopped it.

I heard podcast with a recent cannonball record holder that said the only time left to be shed on the run is in the twisty parts of the Appalachian mountains where big sedans can't handle the cornering well enough to maintain high speed and that future cannonball cars will go back to being sporty coupes.

Half of me loves that they got the record so low during the run. The upside is they did at a time with the least amount of public risk. But the other side of me thinks its cheap. It would be like taking an F1 race of 20 cars and dropping it down to 3. Like yeah you did it and you won but the competition wasn't there. Don't like that it also puts the record in a place that it can't be broken unless you are wildly reckless.
