Customer service guy did not take into account that you are a famous, articulate, diplomatic and honest as the day is long youtuber and, representative of North American home owner needs and that we as intelligent, responsive viewers will take this information on board when considering our own needs when it comes to door purchases. He is not in the right job- his years of knowledge have damaged his brain/mouth responsiveness and he should retire if he is not prepared to improve his attitude, knowledge, teamwork, ability to influence processes within the company and outcomes that will eventually impact the business as a whole. The company should refund you all their profit and if the door came through a retailer then they should be the ones pursuing that on your behalf. North America will only survive as manufacturers if they can produce quality products, timeously and with good customer service!

As they are steel and wood the wooden screw holes got bigger and bigger and a lot of the screws would fall out. You have just shown me how the problem can be solved and I am so grateful. You have no idea!! And to see you actually doing it has just made it easy; so thanks a lot.

Stanley Doors should be ashamed of themselves for the poor customer support. Mistakes happen, but putting no effort into fixing their mistakes is not how a business should operate if they want to have returning customers. Nice repair, a bit of touch up and it will look brand new.

I've installed hundreds of doors. When the manufacturer installed holes are in the wrong location half the time one of the two screws that hold the strike plate goes right into the giant hole that they drilled in the wrong spot. But he wasn't arguing with you he just knows everything even though he's not there are not able to see it with his own eyes. Customer service is dead.

Wow! I, for one, will not be purchasing any "Stanley " doors. I was on the fence from your last video, but you made it crystal clear by placing the strike plate against the door frame. There needs to be a recall on them or new frames need to be supplied as a fix or a fix kit like yours need to be provided and the doors should be at a reduced cost. That’s ridiculous. What a shoddy response from them! I would expect better. This is a reject or down graded item!! Something you’d find at a restore or discount barn! Don’t settle for their lame response. That epoxy wood filler is truly great stuff. I broke the plastic feet on and otherwise great little piece of luggage. I put a bolt through the hole with one nut on the outside and one on the inside to make the new foot, but of course, that bolt was now a piece of metal with the potential of scratching or poking any surface it contacted. I decided to try to mold a new foot out of the epoxy wood filler around the exposed bolt. I made that repair about 30 years ago, and the "feet" still are intact (as is that great piece of luggage.) I painted the new feet black to match the luggage, and unless I bring the repair job to someone's attention, nobody would even notice them. Necessity is truly the mother of invention.

Hi Doug, I'm sorry you had to go through this again!!, this is a factory problem, like I've said before, I've had to do this as well !, I've been to several door factories and the door jamb jig is the problem, in addition to being out of adjustments, they get sloppy with the router when the worker is routing out the jamb for the strike plates/ deadbolt holes. Customer service doesn't know what goes on in the factory shop, even though the guy you talked to said he was a pro !, just be prepared to do this repair for every door, even interior doors !, you did a great job of repairing the door jamb ! I'll try the JB weld putty next time, because a small container of bondo epoxy putty at home depot is now around $30.00 !!!, used to be $8-$12 dollars!!, a small container!!!

Hey Doug, may I suggest getting some stock metal strip or security metal door jamb kit from the door hardware section at your local hardware store or Habitat for Humanity ReStore to reinforce the door jamb and to prevent kick ins. Most of the wood they use now is finger jointed pine and is not as strong as some of the old growth wood you might be removing. Sorry about Stanley, it’s no wonder people have lost faith in these companies, there is no pride in workmanship or in building quality products anymore. They just do what it takes to put out cheap and dirty junk (I would not consider a $500-600 door cheap either). You might want to take your complaint to another level past this front line gatekeeper-it’s really unacceptable that they told you to fix it yourself! Especially when the whole point of buying a pre hung door is that all the fine tuned fiddley fitting work has be done for you. Most of their production work is cut on the CnC and factory assembled so Stanley has Quality Control issues as well. I would figure your time, labor, and a portion of the transportation and delivery costs into the amount Stanley owes you and accept no less, $25 bucks sounds like a bit of an insult if you ask for my opinion. -Good luck Doug!
