At the same price range, similar in size and profile, the Tesla model 3 rear wheel drive model and the Nio ET5 compete for the same customers in China. Would a Tesla owner prefer the ET5 after the test drive?

What about if most median income. Like where the most money is doesnt go above 50k euros? While all NIO cars are above(even without battery)? U can get model 3 or Y for around 40k.

The sales point for NIO is more than the nicety of the hardware, but also the maintenance experience, (plus a feel of community) once you become an owner. I think. Long term, if NIO keeps up with the good work, keep improving its model of operations, it has a good chance to wrestle customers from Tesla, especially when they get more mature.

about the breaks... she's just new to them causing her "jerky" reaction, but as she finally drove it for a while there was no problem. I have found that if I drive a different car it may take a few drives to get use to the handling of the breaks.

No kidding, She has a model 3.. It's her car.. The NIO has 2022 technology with AR/VR glasses that weren't mentioned.. & in the base form the NIO is far superior. ✅

I already know that the NIO is a better vehicle overall in its base trim over the model 3. It's not really a fair comparison TBH. 2022 technology & a lot more of it!!computing power, more colors, AR/VR glasses, Autonomous hardware, interior options, never having to ever worry about their battery in regards to degradation, Range of all NIO's that get the 150kwh battery pack can have longer range than any Tesla!! & On the weekdays can downgrade to a 75kwh to go around the city.. People that think that the model 3 are choosing it just for emotions, branding, or personal preferences which is fine...But again isn't based on the facts.. ✅

Where is your comparison sheet? Here: A Tesla Model Model 3 LR + Perf Boost + Towing = *55K euro*. With 82kWh. 602WLTP (250KW charging) A Nio ET5 + 75kWh battery, (towing included) = *63.7K euro*. WIth 75kWh. 456WLTP (180KW charging) Tesla is a better deal, but there is more. Already laid out infrastructure, many Tesla service centers even i live in a remote area there is one 30km away from me. (i live up north of Netherlands... farmers area) I am curious about your "sheet" please show it.

@@haknys You have not been in a Tesla. Definitely not a China-made one either. You probably haven’t been in a NIO either. I’ve lived with a Model 3 for an entire week and it was a phenomenal experience. Tesla will sell over 1 million BEVs this year and will scale to millions quite soon. Why? Because they make good products. No need to detract in an attempt to elevate NIO. Just makes NIO look bad.

Tesla also has much better margins than BYD, but make no mistake that I am still bullish on BYD. Together, Tesla and BYD will replace Toyota and VW as the top two vehicle manufacturers globally within just 5 years time. Shortsightedness has people such as yourself believing that Tesla and BYD are squarely competing with each other right now, but they are not. With every BEV that they make, they are taking ICE vehicle sales away from Toyota, VW, GM, Honda, Nissan, Ford and many others.

The key point when the ET5 comes to the U.K. will be the price v Tesla 3, plus will it be available with the 150kwh battery and will battery swap stations be located on major routes.

The roll-out of the NIO battery swap stations in EU and the US will take time. In the meantime battery charging times (10-80%) remain important. How fast does the NIO ET5 charge from 10% SOC to 80% SOC?

Hi it actually depends on the battery pack you choose not the car, for 70KW battery it takes 48 minutes from 0 to 80% the 100KW battery pack will take 1 hour.

@@revchina Yes, the NIO charger has a high power transfer rate, but it is the time needed to charge the battery that is important. This time is determined by how much power the battery is capable to store in an hour.

@@revchina Tesla Long Range which is cheaper in Europe than NIO does 250kW. And we have charging stations that can do 350kW on the highways. NIO is currently very very very expensive and is currently a very bad deal for a new car. Not a lot people will buy it if they can get more for less if they buy a Tesla, and Tesla is already a super well known brand and has a good reputation build up in Europe.

Nice review enjoyed the varying perspectives. I wonder if this car&the byd seal will get tesla to finally update the m3 exterior appearance? 🤔 2017-2023 model years with basically the same exterior means it's getting a bit stale imo. A nice exterior refresh would go a long way imo to bringing model 3 sales back up. Would be a good time to also change over to using the castings and structural pack's. Maybe even adding the plaid c.f. wrapped motors to the performance m3&model y.

Yes the price in Netherlands is far higher than what Tesla offers. And then Tesla has bigger battery and included. While for almost the same price you have to lease the damn battery from Nio for 170 euro's. lol This is not gonna sell well in Netherlands.

@@revchina the battery lease will be the biggest fail. In our country we have around 2 depots now and all not located in big cities. So why leasing a battery when you cant replace it. Paying around 60 70k for a car and leasing around €290 a month or paying another €20k to buy the battery

The host trying so hard to sell the NIO, covering up the poor regen/brake blend by saying its performance brakes - all good brakes should be progressive and smooth, carbon ceramics can be a bit "grabby" at low speed but the NIO uses steel rotors like the Tesla. Tesla has longer range, faster charging, more charging stations, is cheaper, is more efficient, is faster (although slightly slower to 60mph), has way more storage, is much lighter. Things like looks, comfort and software are subjective so i wont dive into those, but across those subjective categories I think its clear that neither car is dramatically superior to the other. So, whatever your opinion, its hardly shocking that the owner preferred the Tesla over the ET5 despite the sales pitch.

The main problem I found is that you found the worst person to compare the ET5 and the model 3. You picked her as you said she is pretty. She picked the Model 3 over the ET5 because the front seats weren’t comfy enough in the ET5. She admitted that the computing power in the ET5 is faster, we’ll compare 144 TOPS to ET5 1016 TOPS. The seats aren’t “Comfy enough “, give me a break.

Hi Michael, this isn't a comparison between the m3 and the et5. As the title suggests she is already a Tesla owner so of course she is biased and the et5 needs to be miles ahead to win her over. She mentioned a few other things as well like the suspension is softer on the m3 and she prefer the design of the m3 as it's more simplistic.

I dont know how they are evan able to sell cars that charge overnight or several hours? that is ridicules like you are waiting for comunity bus by the schedule...idea of owning a car is to be autonomus at any goven moment and NIO is the only EV that can perform that. this company is the future!

Interior and exterior design wise, the Nio is polished, the Tesla not so. American cars are crude but I feel people who are not familiar with US made cars will think very highly of imported things especially from an American brand. Branding is very important to the Chinese. The Nio is a local car brand to them therefore not so desirable even though, imho, the Nio trumps the Tesla in every way. The Chinese are so lucky to have so many choices

Actually why i have not purchased a Model 3 in 2021 was because their customer service sucks here in Germany. They are pushy and not serious in the trade in. Expect people to want their products regardless their service. No attempt to really sell and bragging about how many cars are being delivered out per months, yeah of course cause there is a run due to the gov subsidy. Then they raised their prices by 10k EUR and now announced that they are doing the people good to cover for the diff of subsidy cut by gvt between 2022 and 2023, which maybe sums up to 2k EUR. Of course you can do that having increased the prices by 10k EUR. So to me it is a no go, for what they offer, and well the only reason why I considered it in 2021 was their charging network and the promise that the prices are stable. I understand the energy crisis etc etc, but somehow their prices on the fast charging network exceeds the prices of other charging stations. A friend of mine avoids Tesla own charging stations cause the prices can vary up to 20 cents being higher on their own network than on the third parties where all the other manufacturers have to charge? As some of the comments pointed out Tesla was the pioneer and i also credit Elon Musk for his persistence and odd way. I guess you have to be excentric and a little bit crazy in order to realize such great things when the odds are against you. But still a customer remains a customer and no matter how good the product may be if the Sales person is not providing any good service and you end up in a call center with always a different person, maybe I am not ready for this sales channel. So out of principle and personal experience it is not going to be a tesla for a foreseeable future. I rather look at Nio, Polestar, KIA and Hyundai.... Especially Nio has been reflecting to me positively. From the ideation up to the product. I have driven the ET7 the only model available in Germany currently and it is a dream to drive. Yet, this is not a car for me, cause it is simply too big, it is a comfortable cruiser that you would rather take on a family trip from here to the south of France. But what i am looking at crispy fast daily driver that i can throw around the corner and also serve as a great car for my wife to do shopping. That is why i am looking at the ET5 and wait till the car comes here. Looking forward to that.......all this coming from a true petrol head who mostly driven german premium cars before........

I’m driving a Tesla model X ludicrous. When I test drive the BMW iX, The BMW is in a much higher level in every department. Forget the tech in the tesla as most of it is unnecessary and does not work properly. I have full self driving, and its useless in the UK.

I just hope Nio smooths out the jerky breaking issue and maybe find a way to shrink down 3 LiDAR Nodes on the roof maybe conceal them more into the roof. This also tells the tell on Nio’s lack of how to properly market the battery swap option. Nio acts as if they are the Apple of EV’s but the public is not buying it just yet.

that is true but that number is drastically dropping, just look at the sale numbers of BYD and other Chinese brands. Now one third of new cars sold in China is either electric or hybrid, japanese cars has notjing to do with it.

The model 3 performance would beat the ET5 in quickness but really who needs 0-60 times if 3.5 seconds?? What about the autonomous driving hardware? The computing power? Ambient lighting, AR/VR glasses, never having to ever worry about battery degregation.. Battery swapping technology, Talk to her in 4yrs & see when she has battery degradation what she thinks of the model 3 then! This woman V doesn't know much about anything & was kinda painful to watch her say anything.. Get someone who doesn't have a Tesla or a NIO. & Has been briefed on both vehicles thoroughly & price comparison.. That would be a good candidate for a comparison.. Not V That's for sure.. Clueless IMHO.

@@peterklausner9727 But you should not decide so quickly. Because the strength of Tesla is in its daily detailed features that work so well. Everything in detail works so well. Not just hasted like i saw how stuff works on the Nio software. I saw they tested the autopilot the Nio on Dutch roads it works terrible. And i have a Tesla myself and never had problems with mine it doesn't fly out of corners like the Nio does.
