DM Screens are the thing that I want more then anything else from Wyrmwood. The KEY is not adding a bunch of features, when you already have really good products that match these features. I don’t need a built in dice tower, you already have it. I don’t need little drawers built in, you already have cool tiles and vaults for characters. Something simple, yet cool, like Matt Mercer’s modular DM Screen (without all of the cool design and unique flexing his is). Heck, even if it’s just a blank, solid wood design with just the Wyrmwood logo on the outside, I’m in. Just want that magnetic strip, and the magnetic barrel system, and I’m golden.

This guy gets it. Hell, everything they do is modular now, if its held together with magnets, allow add ons that let the big spenders go wild but also allow for a simple inexpensive-wood 3-fold screen with magnets to hold paper to the front and back. ez millions

This is the answer. We already have side things for drawers of miniatures, dice towers, trays, and vaults. Maybe the initiative tracker can easily stay, but it isn't necessary because well, if you wanted one, you probably would have figured out a way to do it now. I just want to replace my dingy little GM screen!

Honestly, the design of Mercer's GM screen is perfect for what I'd need. The rotating screen was a nice to have, but not really needed and the additional towers etc were more pain than they were worth. I understand it might be a smaller market, but even the ability to get a DM screen following Jason's last design (without the veneer detail) would be great, especially for those of us who run multiple systems.

Personally, not a fan of playing Jenga, but the idea is great for profiting and marketing on what would otherwise be waste. Another idea is multiple size options. Some thought, I think ever since you came out with that new design for the screen that you used for Mercer's screen, demand for that jumped. I think simplification of options, so ditching things like rotating panels and the attached towers would make the screen much easier to produce and could make a ton of money. One other thing I think you guys should really be pushing on is getting a section of the website that is dedicated to table accessories. I have to imagine that table buyers don't want to be limited to kickstarters to expanding their accessory collection.

While understand the business side of, resin or dice 3.0 might bring in more revenue, I can’t help but see almost every comment circling the DM/GM Screen. I too hope the screen gets chosen soon. I’m saving specifically for the screen and accessories in MGT 2.0. Maybe just me but since I have a deck box, I have a dice tray and tower, etc. one inlayed with resin isn’t as exciting to me as a nice DM screen that matches all my accessories, table, etc.
@kevinvaldez5163
@kevinvaldez5163 2 года назад
I feel like your end goal for MGT should be to have it (and the core accessories) be available on your website year round. I think MGT K.S. v2.0 is the next logical step in that direction. Ultimately though it should be a product that you create a production process for that allows for year round orders with a 2-3 month turn around on delivery. You then follow that model with other products like sit/stand desk, having learned how to wind up production from MGT (and who not to buy CNC machines from) and using one or two kickstarters to develop and refine the product.

@Ritnom1

I agree that having all CAPs available at all times would be a tremendous amount of inventory. That being said, doing other ones at different times of the year and offering them up in at either 3 or 4 classes at a time would be cool. Like having a promotion where you could choose between, Druid, Ranger, Bard & Barbarian or Monk as possible choices.
@shepahotep

It would be simple enough to do a new one every quarter (4 new ones per year) and offer 1 of the existing ones along side it each time, rotating through all 4 by the end of the year. Eventually you work your way to a total of 12 with the base D&D classes. Then there's the possibility of adding 4 more for a total of 16 if you add Artificer, Alchemist, partner with CR for Blood Hunter, and a theme for the DM. Then you are eventually offering a rotating selection of 4 per quarter depending on the wood availability.

Or make Dice out of chopped wood, if they have "Jenga" sized waste, that should be doable. Have a Wooden (or Dust) Core, then pour Resin around that. You would need to treat & compress the Dust to have it hold it's shape long enough to get the Resin poured, but it only needs to hold shape until it sets, then the Resin holds it.

GM screen idea for a lower 'production' cost: make it part of the Hexy system. Modular panels that snap around a Party Tray or the like. One panel type being a vertical card holder, another panel something that you can slip a sheet of paper/map into, etc. Have holes along the top edge that colored flags/pegs could go into to indicate initiative order (or other stuff depending on the game system), that kind of thing. Think of it less as a GM screen, and more as something *any* player might have if a game has reference sheets, or stuff that has to be kept hidden from the other players.

You'll find a LOT of your audience (and customer base) started in D&D and want a DM screen. But you don't need to make God's DM screen. Make it modular like so much of the other stuff you do. Have different panels that connect on the end. If the player wants a 2 panel screen, they get that, if they want 3 or 4 different screens, they get that. It's not something you HAVE to do all at once. Have a basic starter promo of 3 panels, then rotate new panels in. You don't have to offer it in 12 woods, pick the top 3. This limits your SKUs and most definitely hits a massive "want" of your customers. Don't believe me, read the comments below.

Another vote for GM screens here. Doesn't need to be crazy or fancy - just a pretty, basic wooden screen, maybe give some options for alternative frame vs inner wood types, a magnetic rail on the top, and the barrel magnets so it collapses easily. If you wanted to get a little fancy maybe some stringing options or other stuff similar to the CAP products. Doesn't need to have a dice tower or drawers or anything like that. It just needs to be some panels that attach together, fold up for transport, and feel high end enough that they'll fit in with the beautiful wood of a Prophecy or MGT. Also - sit stand desk. Yes please. If you can do it powered, awesome. PLEASE consider the minimum height being lower than typical desks - the flexibility for folks of different heights and proportions is critical.

An idea regarding the CAP promotion: bring it back twice this year, say Q2 and Q4, and each time you add in 2 new class options. Then next year you do the same thing, adding an additional 2 each time until you have all the classes (plus perhaps Blood Hunter) covered. That gives you time to design, source materials for, and build the items plus having it spaced out keeps people interested for longer. As far as the classic board games such as chess and checkers, would it be possible to take a bunch of long strips, glue them up in the pattern with or without the boarders, and then cut them to a set thickness similar to how you did for the CAP veneers? Maybe make a 4ft long block, cut it at a half to 3/4inch thickness, and then finish them? Hearing that y'all are looking to do more with Dispel for Dyce 3.0 has me already disinterested. Just not personally a big fan of those kind of dice. If I'm gonna spend that much money on a single set, I want it to be made of something cool. DM screen has been requested for years, and at some point you need to either develop it to be made at scale, or just flat out tell us it isn't happening. MGT and other furniture stuff is cool, but for most of last year and from this conversation, it sounds like Wyrmwood is moving away from accessories. If that's the case, then maybe it's time to say so.

I have been fiending for a GM screen for a long time but I understand the risks. I missed out on MGT 1.0 and the timeline was long so a MGT 2.0 would get my $ most likely.

I would love if you expended on CAP, even if you just keep the core 4 classes on the website and have the rest as promotions over the year. I would be also stoked about a really fancy DM-Style Master Vault and rolling Tray within that series, maybe similar to the signature series Hex Vault.

It was Soul-Crushing to watch how casually, and derisively, Ed dismissed doing a GM Screen 2.0 Kickstarter... A not inconsequential proportion of your loyal following have been patiently waiting for Wrymwood to launch this KS, a KS that you've hinted at and teased for around 4 years... Surely you're aware that, despite your GM Screen 1.0 KS only having a small number of Backer compared to other KS' you've run, it started something among your following, a following that is *far* larger now than it was back then. People playing TTRPGs has also exponentially increased, particularly with the explosion in popularity of D&D 5e, so there's an abundance of new GMs/DMs/Storytellers/Referees that weren't on the scene for the initial KS... And that not insignificant portion of your current following who missed the initial KS, really want this, and I _genuinely_ believe you'll be incredibly surprised by how a 2.0 KS will go... Approximately 60% of the commenters on this video are virtually, or literally, begging for you to bring us another chance at your GM Screens... Fancy "Math Rocks" are a dime a dozen these days, both on Kickstarter, and on the internet in general... Please, be what you're meant to be... A purveyor of awesome, exotic, high-end, heirloom/bespoke quality *wood* items - not gaudy, unnecessary non-wood items... I get that your business needs to grow and adapt... But your "Legacy" should mean something, and GM Screens are a part of your Legacy... They're a part of your Legacy that, with the abundance of highly skilled Craftspeople that you have access to (J, Jason, Bennett, Crazy Ed!), you 110% could make _truly_ amazing, both by improving upon your 1.0 designs, and adding options in the vein of what Jason crafted for Matt Mercer... I would drop a large amount of dollars on a Wyrmwood GM Screen _right now_ if I could, and I'm not too ashamed to beg... Please, _Wyrmwood_ _Board_ , give those of us who missed out in early 2017 our own shot at a high-end, bespoke, GM Screen... Please... ... ...

Don't write off the GM screen. We don't need crazy bells and whistles, just a good solid screen with wood options. It doesnt need to be it's own KS, could be an option for MGT, etc.

Okay. Here me out: MODULAR GM screen. One type of screen that has the capacity to switch in and out different features: - Like high end veneered decorative designs - Birds Eye Maple or Redwood Burl anyone? - Or laser cut lattice work (great to pair with different campaigns from DnD) - Or have it be able to hold regular sheets of paper in frame (magnetized frames) - Or hold Campaign maps - Or a sheet with multiple magentic rails to attach various cards or tokens to (like initiative trackers). Hopefully that makes manufacturing easier. Oh and ABSOLUTELY needs to have Matt Mercer's barrel magnets. Those things are amazing.

Also, given Wyrmwood's history of fucking with the community through their RU-vid channel, it wouldn't especially surprise me if they have been working on a GM screen and just put this video out to rile the community up, seeing as it's the most requested product right now

Giving sit stand desk time to develop I think would be smart, let’s you keep your production flowing on MGT. jenga I think is a fantastic idea, and I would absolutely pay extra for a giant jenga set. DM’s screen I’ve been waiting for for so long. It has a smaller market than dice, it is more expensive than dice, but I do think as a promotion and then just incorporated into regular production would be fantastic. High end DM Screens make sense as a Kickstarter, but I would not be opposed to a more subdued and simple design. Plywood with veneer, barrel magnet hinges, and magnetic top/bottom rails.

Deckboxes are first in line for me as i know i can afford them currently, just waiting on them to be available If the GM screen can land somewhere in the 4-5 hundred range im 100% ready for that as well. Hex table with chairs is something i would absolutely love. But is beyond my available space and funds at this time.

Modular DM screen that works with your table. Locks in to the inner magnet, works with the tool bench thing, doubles as storage of stuff, and a platform for info/Dm resources. If you think of the DM screen as a series of useful panels that lock into each other, it's basically just you hex set up, but vertical. Make a central panel that has slots for things you already make, and a few things you don't but that DM's would like. I think it might be less of it's own thing, and more of an accessory.

I think the GM screen might surprise them with how well the kickstarter would do. There are a TON of people out there either selling dice or watching countless tutorials on how to make their own. I havent seen much in the way of a quality GM screen.

I've been waiting for a GM screen, too, just as many others have voiced here. Not interested in drawers, but loved the flipable tiles and magnetic idea in general. Also while the dice tower that can roll either to you privately or publicly is really cute, I'd just not use it. Mainly bcs you as GM can't ser the public roll, since it is hidden behind your own screen. Also please keep in mind that not everyone plays dnd. Sure its huge in the US, but even there it isn't the only system and in Europe it is considerably smaller still.

Am I the only one here that is just really psyched that I was "being part of" the Wyrmwood yearly vision / product board meeting? This is the kind of stuff that gets me real jazzed up about the company, the content, the journey. It solidifies this feeling of involvement for a company that I don't even work for! I wish I was part of these where I currently work. It's easy to say "You should be making this product, or that one" but when you breakdown the timelines and see all the moving parts, it really puts it all into perspective and clarifies the decisions that need to be made. I REALLY enjoyed being part of this meeting; even if you guys didn't hear me agreeing with most of the points being made :) IMO, No one is gonna be multiple DM screens, but adding resins to already heavy arsenal or crafting will open up multiple new possibilities .. if you can scale it.

Honestly, given how many people are asking for the GM screen 2.0, ya'll should look into developing some sort of clean wooden box/tray system for the players that could potentially house the character sheet, space for a writing utensil, and potentially space to accommodate a rolling tray & vault. So large enough to fit a tabletop dice tray with space at the bottom for a utensil and mini (partitioned out) but it's large enough to store your character sheets. It can either be an open tray, set up like a box with lid that lifts up, or even likened to a book/spell book. This would provide an option for the myriad players to keep all of their DnD accoutrements together regardless of what combination of Wyrmwood gear they own. it could even be designed to be stackable for sleek storage options. Boom, now you're reaching out to the players AND the DMs out there. Plus if you have a system to accommodate the trays, vaults, etc. maybe people will want to buy just one more piece to complete the collection.

Personally really excited for modular gaming table 2.0, I was luckily within the second wave of the first one and all year I've been chatting with my roommates about how we want to buy more accessories because we didn't order enough, so I'm very excited for the chance to order all the table items we didn't get the first time around (plus the new options!) Secondly the DM screen is definitely something i'm interested in.

Have to say, I was looking forward to a Wyrmwood DM screen. That said, for the last 2 years my in-person table has turned to Roll20 and while we HOPE to get back to playing in person it might be a tough sell for me to invest $$$ into a really nice DM screen that I may never use.

Hey Wyrmwood, Things I'd like to see and would buy? - DM screen in a modular fashion, but keep it to the basics and not ridiculously high end. Keep it available on the website so I can add things later. Remember, I own a bunch of tiles and dice towers and all that stuff, I just need fairly simple magnetic panels and the like. - Chairs/benches that match MGT, so not the "high end" stuff that Crazy Ed is working on. I need matching wood and aesthetic, instant sale. Things I'm not that interested in? - Dice 3.0. I have both Dispel Dice KS and Dice 2.0 dice. I'm all good, I don't need more dice. - High end stuff. The cost for anybody outside the USA is prohibitive I'm afraid. It all looks really nice though and I won't cry if you make it. Being honest, what hurts? I'm an early backer for MGT 1.0, international tier. If I was US based I'd have a table by now, but I'm literally at the back of the queue because of how you decided our orders would be shipped. My table should have been due any day now, but it is now 9-12 months delayed and likely in to 2023. For you to be talking about MGT 2.0 like this problem doesn't exist is really galling, and Wyrmlyfe has gone silent on this as well. MGT 2.0 needs to happen, I understand that, but don't big it up or launch it whilst you've got literally thousands of backers without tables.

VERRRYYY little interest in more dice, but I REALLY want a good GM screen. I remember seeing the Mercer screen and watching that video over, and over, and over taking in all the details and build. I don't need the intricate images like that one but a screen with (a) magnetitic panels to make the size modular (b) a way to attach a sheet to the back for different game/system references and (c) a way to display initiative orders on the the top is the absolute sweet spot for me!

GM Screen is still my most interested product. I have dice vaults, a tower, trays, etc. I have dice, I have a desk, I'm even lucky enough to have an MGT. New dice/vaults/accessories are interesting, but would need to be particularly compelling to buy MORE. A DM screen, especially just a simple design, magnetic attachments, a strip on top for notes and initiative, with WW craftsmanship and finish, would be an instant buy. Even if it was just a pre-order, "we'll send you this eventually" promo, I'd be in.

The Jenga idea for your waste material is 1000% an excellent idea! and once it comes out, I will be purchasing one! GM Screens would be amazingly popular if you did one that had the BASE features of Matt Mercers, the barrel magnets and the magnetic strip and then you could have modular addons that are variants of the SKU's you already have for dice towers and rolling trays and have a masterwork version for people who want the super high end variety. Hexagonal MGT. I honestly fell in love with your MGT but what pushed me away from even trying to save up for it, is I've played games on long tables and it can be annoying when trying to see what is going on at a battle map, a Hexagonal table would solve ALL of that for me and the group I play with. A Loyal Fan
