That being said I agree if a stranger came up to be friendly that would irritate and stress me out but this was a definite ad/ awareness vid on the pod life and everyone showed in this gave their ok to be filmed or bothered so I don't think anyone was imposed on in this vid but I'm not a part of it so I'm not sure.

Hostels specifically in the United States are not good. They usually have a better reputation in places like London, Germany, France...European Countries.

I've been to lots of hostels all around Europe and never had a problem with any of them. They're cheap, usually very close to the centre and I always stay just for a couple of days so I don't care if they're not the most beautiful places to stay. I think as long as your standards are not too high and you want something cheap, hostels are the best option.
