Check out drinklmnt.com/Brent for a FREE 8 sample pack with any purchase. LMNT has been a huge supporter of the town, I drink it basically every day, so I hope you'll check it out!
This was a HUGE few weeks at Cerro Gordo. Finally. Finally, after nearly 2 years of battling concrete, the hotel for the American Hotel is DONE. Once again, we found ourselves in a place where no concrete companies would bring their trucks to our town. It was too dangerous, and there were easier jobs elsewhere.
So instead of sitting back and letting someone else dictate whether a dream happened or not, we got to WORK. In the end, we broke open and mixed 1,500 ninety pound bags of concrete and got the job done. It was one of the craziest few days up here at Cerro Gordo.
I have to give a HUGE shoutout to everyone who has helped out these past few weekends to make this possible - Aaron C, Scotty, Trevor, Phil, Pat, Craig, Dave, Jim, Marty, Aaron S, Hans, Christy, Paul, Daniel, Sabin, Elias, Damien, Richard, Andrew, Victoria, Chris K, Richie, Juan, Freddy, Elliot, Corbin, Jeff, Connor, James, Travis, Jake, Olmo, Brian, and many more!! You all helped make history!!

Those of us that have been long time watchers, we will never forget the look on your face and the sound of your voice cracking, when you told us all,the hotel burnt to the ground. That’s why we give money and time and just emotional support. I can’t wait to come to the party when it opens.

Well said! We saw a man's heart break, and it was gut wrenching. Then we watched him get back up, grip tightly to his dreams, and start climbing back up his personal mountain. It storms and rumbles and keeps trying to shake him off, but he just keeps getting up and finding ways over every obstacle. This is a man fighting for his dream like hero, and I don't think anything can stop him. Brent is legendary. ❤

Dude... I love this video series. Me and my old man were never close, but one thing I am proud of is we added onto our house by ourselves. my dad spent 25k total on an old trailer on a small bit of land back in 99. We dug our own footers, hand mixed and poured them wheel barrow by wheel barrow. My dad was a mason, and he took any block and concrete from every job that was left over as extras over like 15 years as a mason. The house we build was almost 100% leftover materials from job sites. Hilariously he hauled every bag of cement, and every block for our house from either Denver or colorado springs jobsites down to our house in Canon city in a little dodge neon (after 10 years of this it looked like it had been slammed on shit suspension). we only had a concrete truck here 1 time, to pour the floor for our house. The footers were all hand mixed, the grout was all hand mixed, and miserably... my dad like every other person who is building his own house wanted to overbuild it, so we filled 100% of every single cell of our house full of concrete. We mixed every single bag of concrete by hand... in a wheel barrow... then used buckets to move it from the wheelbarrow up to the top to fill each block. So I fully understand the struggles you guys are going through, and respect the work!! Keep it up!

Haha same here I can't even remeber when the work started its been years but I've helped my pops build up this little house and it's coming along decently though we've been a fair bit luckier and had some hired hands come in and help us along with cement trucks pouring in cement but I understand the struggle after I he brought in 12 pallets full of limestone he got at a discount and I had to hand haul them since he didn't want to waste more money on a cat nor could it fit, we wrapped up quite a major section in limestone rocks, mostly around 8 to 6 inches tall and 3 or 4 inches wide and I was the lucky mule that had to haul them from there storage space to where we needed them haha I love my pops and would do it all again if the need arises so lucky I'm young and can still help him too

I don't know if you'll ever read this, Brent, but I really want you to know something important: YES, we observers and, most especially, those who actually show up there to help out, deeply want Cerro Gordo to emerge from its long sleep and breathe deeply of the air in the 21st century as a full-fledged town. That's a given. More importantly, though, it's you and your depthless passion that, to me at least, makes this such an amazing experience. (And I've not been bored for even a New York second during the nearly three years I've been watching you!) No one else could have done this, Brent. PERIOD. So please, when you thank all of us, save a nice big chunk of that thanks for yourself. Because every time I hear you thank us in these drop-dead, way-cool videos, I always feel like answering back, "Thank ME? No-no-NO, Brent. Thank YOU for sharing this dream of yours!" You're one heck of a builder, sir. And THAT, as we used to say in the by-God U. S. Navy, is a "no-shitter."

At some point those investors expect to get their capital plus interest back. Thats what an investor is. Brent mentions volunteers all the time. If they dont want to volunteer, they dont have to. The hotel is how he plans to generate revenue. No hotel, investors probably dont get paid. If workers want payment, thats up to them to negotiate with Brent what they think is fair. Brents original partner pulled out. Instead of throwing in the towel & leaving, he found a way to continue. Not sure why anybody would knock that. Its not like its a luxurious, easy way of life living up there and worrying about all of this. Why be negative? Are you a disgruntled ex partner jealous he is succeeding? Whats it to you?

To think back at the devastation on Brent's face and the obvious upset in his voice - it was a really hard watch, I was gutted for not only Brent but for the town and the history that quite literally that went up in smoke. I watched everyone of his vlogs and have seen him grow, both the number of subscribers, his confidence in exploring the mines, his retrospective at the end of the day. It's been a fantastic journey for all of his supporters. I remember when the hotel burned down, you could see how heartbroken he was and we mourned with him. But a new era has begun, the hotel basement is done, next the framing. Everyone has rallied to help Brent fulfill his dream. And despite many setbacks, Brent, you move forward and are an inspiration to many around the world. You are an influencer of people and you show others how to succeed despite hardships. Being able to watch a community be built, memories being made, and characters being tested is a privilege to me. It’s something that the world wouldn’t have even conceived as possible maybe 20 years ago. And knowing the man behind it and the absolute devotion he has to his cause - well that kind of hope and determination can’t help but be infectious 🤗 which is ironic seeing as Brent came to us during the pandemic! I think you hit the nail on the head, assuming that because of his lifestyle & the time alone he has, he uses it as a gift, using it in a way that yes makes his content more consumable, but more beautifully, for his mental health & to build life long habits of reflection. It’s a bummer that so many of us are living in a constant state of rush & hurry & react vs. reflect. It reminds me a little of when my parents and siblings all chipped in to help build a home in Hawaii, and getting those 50 or so ohia logs hauled up a steep narrow curved driveway, one at a time, in the pickup truck. I had to sit on them in the back to help keep them from sliding off. And there was also all the boulders we had to haul up for the rock walls. At least we were able to get a cement truck up the driveway. Still nothing compared to these guys and the mighty work involved!

I think one of the most powerful things about this journey is that it's purely an act of love. Cerro Gordo was built on, if not greed, then the desire for financial success. Even the original hotel was made to capitalise on a market that existed in that moment. But this time, with this community, everyone is pitching in from a desire to preserve and restore. A desire to be a part of something with meaning, to leave their mark on history. And I think that if even an old mining town with a reputation for violence can transform into a project which enriches the lives of the people insted of just their pockets? That's such an important symbol of what humanity can achieve. I'm so glad to have been a part of this journey, even if it's just from the sidelines here on RU-vid.

I've been watching this channel from almost the beginning. It has become my favorite channel on RU-vid. It is even better than the any TV show out there. It grips you and thugs your heart as you ride the rollercoaster of your joys and sorrows, triumphs and tragedies with your band of brothers and sisters. I love your passion and the way you show us that life has meaning. Don't ever give up.

There’s so many ways to convey how all of this giant mess makes me feel Brent. Just know that I’m proud of you! I’m proud of what you are doing! Your story is an Epic. It’s both tragic and inspiring and hard to watch while at the same time I’m so jealous. I so anticipate the next episode and then avoid watching it because it’s so emotionally taxing. You’ve truly achieved something here. Even if the hotel never gets finished I’m sure we will eagerly consume every moment living vicariously because; this is something special.

#1 Brent, we love you because you had a dream for our California History! #2 Your dream became ours! #3 Your so humble a person and a good story teller! #4 You rally us to watch more of Cerro Gordo Ghost Town Living! The mere fact that you set off on an impossible journey in tribute to our past great miners to bring us along on your journey has been incredible! And you now can honestly say and make jokes about the old timers feelings of struggle, depression, sadness and overcoming!! The struggles they had gone through OMG! I cannot imagine and now you can imagine! Our friend, you now know what that struggle must have felt like way more than any of us! Your HOPE< YOUR HEART is what keeps us watching!

Mobilizing a huge heap of resources, nurturing the dream, pulling together a wide circle of like-minded individuals, overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds and leading it all towards the realization of a vision is the best possible thing humans can do. It creates a powerful, precious bond amongst all of those involved as well as melding people with the environment in which you all have toiled - it is beautiful and life-giving. To be able to stand back and say: "Look at what we did!" That is why we do what we do. Knowing the pure joy of big work done well.

It's great to see the hotel progressing. Always remember, it's not just peoples love of history that's saved Cerro Gordon, it's also their belief in you. Without you and your passion, none of this would've been remotely possible, and there wouldnt have been nearly as many people willing to go as far out their way to save the town, as they have to help you. All the best going forward, one day I'll visit from Scotland 😄

I know you are just documenting your process but I’m grateful you share it with us. I’ve been along for the ride from the beginning.. and a lot has happened in the last 2 yrs for all of us. I discovered today that doing some deep breaths and popping on your channel has done more for helping me to stop my PTSD attacks early… before I get carried away and turn into a puddle of emotions.. than years of therapy ever did. I’m so grateful to just have an impartial, wholesome distraction. This channel is a gem.

When Brent said he didn’t think an online community had ever come together like this to create an entire building (and not just a building, but one that will help the town thrive into the future!) and it really got me.
