No one seems to be talking about how Slayer uses one hand to block at first, then after a few more hits he frowns, and then he frowns harder and uses two hands to block. That's such a cute and funny detail.
@@monk3110 I think it has more to do with literally putting the energy of hundreds of years of power in a single punch than him being younger making him stronger.
@@filthyjones6150 to give a serious answer a little late, “Dandy” is a reference to a few things. Firstly, in Slayer’s Strive victory screen, he writes up a little haiku, and performs it. Then, an announcer says the word, “Dandy” as it is stamped with approval. On another note, Slayer in canon is a practitioner, as well as the founder of, a philosophy called “Dandyism”. It, and its tenants, essentially tell you to live life with hope and determination, completing your goals with force and grace. Hope that that helps, somewhat.

My only wish was that Slayer could choose to be young on character select like Asuka choosing if it's his dopple or Johnny choosing to have a beard. It would have been so sick.

Way too many FGC creators just put vaguely relevant match footage that doesn't show the very specific move or situation they're talking about and it drives me up a wall EDIT: The invisible opponent demonstrations were well appreciated too!
Something important to mention. While Slayer did get normal Strive gattlings. His optimal combos actually recommend not using them and you get far more damage out of using more difficult links. The easiest one is linking f.S into c.S, it's just S a lot of times and you can do c.S > f.S > c.S > f.S even on non-counter hit. But if you do get a counter hit you can add a slight pause to stop the gattling, and link c.S into another c.S and continue from there. Or even dash cancel it and link into the second c.S now on the other side because his dash passes through the opponent. And f.S also links into his kicks so his Xrd bnb of looping c.S into f.S twice and ending it with 2K 2D is still intact, and it's still very good!
5:19 That is not what a rekka is, I don't think there is a specific name for specials with different follow ups. Rekka are specials that can be chained together in a specific order, like Chipp or Ram, and unlike Anji

I'm a fairly newer Guilty Gear player, and I was struggling to find the character for me. It felt like I went through half the cast, and then mister slayer comes out and I KNEW IT WAS HIM. it was him he's the best PILEBUNKER
Slayer being announced immediately after getting back into Castlevania and being introduced to Vampire the Masquerade by my friends just... undesirably funny and scary at the same time. But speaking of that, I am so damn happy they embraced the vampire stuff more in his design this time. Like he never felt like that from what I saw in Xrd so as a vampire fan I am happy :3
im not sure if im crazy or not, however if you press the dash button and immidiately after you jump, your jump is covered in like a purple aura for a second, i got no clue if thats supposed to immitate backdash cancel into a jump or not but its a cool thing
Here's a fun fact... They removed jump canceling backdash... BUT NOT FORWARD DASH. You can use this to Kara any of his specials, and gives his command grab the weirdest input I've seen in Guilty Gear... 6321456[dash]9H like drawing a backwards 5 on your keypad. And doing it to the K Mappa Hunch causes it to go fullscreen. 236[dash]9K
Kind of surprised you didn't mention how his 2nd super (the 100 tension gauge one) just doesn't break the wall, even if connected on splat I think it's quick the unique quirk to it afterall
IMO, slayer needs a few tweaks to be balanced, I feel like the full screen super needs to have a few frames after the super freeze for the other to react, because right now you can’t RC, or anything else other than block or DP in neutral +0. Also, I think the high-low off dandy step should be just a few frames longer so it’s reactible
So backdash canceling isn't entirely gone. It's there, along with normal dash canceling, but I don't believe there's much use in using it. Also hand of doom has some presence in rc combos since it causes a wall bounce
Here's the thing about last horizon is that it confirms so easily. You can legit just do 2HS, one of the easiest to hit moves for him, into it. Even moreso like you said breaking the wall is ez with PB. I can see a lot of slayers fishing for that wallbreak into positive bonus into last horizon
fun fact: after BSU you can press 2S and it safejabs some reversals! i've only tested on sol S volcanic viper but i cant be bothered to lab any more so do with this info what you will.
Something funny about Super Mappa Hunch: it has a (probably) unintentional sweetspot. If you stand a little further back than the distance of zatos shadow it hits twice and fucking deletes people lol
Its worth mentioning that Slayer's f.S is very comparible to Sol f.S, with both of them being forward advancing plus on block punches. The major differences here are that Slayer's moves further forward, has more active frames, is more plus on hit and block, but at the cost of being a frame slower and being minus if only the 2nd hit missed. Really good normal, really good

Personally as someone with chronic joint pain I think it's a very good thing they removed backdash cancel, though it probably would've been better if he had at least another move or two like hand of doom. probably a lot to develop though, and he already has a really complete moveset, so it's fair enough
Today I found the third character on my 3v3 team. Slayer is so much fun I don’t mind losing. I managed to hit a 4 pilebunker combo and laughed like an evil mad man
Back dash cancel is actually still in the game, its just a movement tech now instead of invincibility. So like a normal kara but still executed like the old games.
