Hi! Sorek here! Thank you very much for this deck tech! I showed you first deck more like bunch of ideas to build into - I have no experience with legacy (other than watching tons of your videos) so I tried to prepare different strategies. You are right, cat-oven is awesome engine for late game, but amount of disruptions in legacy make it really hard to pop off. And I agree, fetches and other baubles are great, but mayhem only benefits them in late game, and in your games you didn't have luck for "ideal" turn turn in explorer so 1 - toughsize - 2 oven + cat 3 mayhem devil It is also much better against fair decks, but last game with opponent winning at 1hp was brutal. Not sure if you would win if you use urza saga for second oven but definitely it would change a lot in game if you had it as your opponent was really scared for it for good reasons. I believe Fable is must in this deck unfortunately - it fixes your land cards, you can discard your cat (also, I wouldn't play more than 3 cats nad 3-4 ovens in this deck anyway) but in explorer you play claim of the firstborn + deadly dispute (which also lets you sacrifice your own creatures as response to removal) to generate card advantage and extra tresure tokens (also from fable) so you have much more sacrifices to mayhem devil/sir ginger/broadside which was the problem in this league. Newest addition cards namely Forsaken Miner is just awesome in late game (also with fable) and works well in this deck. Then you could even run Faithless looting and maybe transition this deck to more late game style. And let me tell you devil + reflection of kiki-jiki from fable is just nuts itself. So a bit sad you had to cut it. But nevertheless awesome deck and happy you managed to end up positive.
Love seeing my favorite pioneer deck in legacy!!! While Bombardiers looks busted as heck, I still imagine there's a place for Fable, since it does so much more to ramp it out than a bombardiers, and the goblin shaman is a sac-trigger machine with those treasures, and... Well, if you ever fable clone a mayhem devil all hell breaks loose! I imagine 2-3 total ancient tombs would still be viable in this deck for more consistent constructs, and more T2 fables, and maybe still some bombardiers? Love love love to see this deck in legacy and I hope you do more!!!!
This made me start experimenting with Dargo the Shipwrecker in Legacy. 8 baubles 4 petals and 4 goldhounds made dargo pretty easy to cast early, then things like broadside and claim the firstborn to round the list out made it overall a pretty cool list. Funny enough though I ended up cutting mayhem devil.
R2G3 you could sac Syr Ginger to get Cauldron Familiar that you surveiled to the Graveyard before to get a blocker for knight. Probably wouldn't make a difference, but one more drawstep:-)
Wizards really giving up on flavor these days, huh? How is a Raucous Theatre type Mountain or type Swamp? I could see it producing those colors as a nonbasic, but there's no way it has the subtypes. SMDH
Im currently also trying to find a way for Cat oven in modern or Legacy but i quickly found that Red is actually kinda weak... I tried Golgari cuz there are many new tools for Sac list with the descend cards which worked a lot smoother! Tho i still havn´t figured out a final list
As is, the construction definitely seems awkward. Since you have to expect your resources are getting spent every turn, your 3 drop "engines" don't have any fuel by the time they arrive. And, since those cards do basically nothing on their own, they can't help you close out a game if you've been trading one for one the whole time. Then on top of that, most of your effects are gradual, and can only be expected to go off about once a turn. Ultimately I feel like it is too slow to go underneath the meta and the ceiling is too low to go overtop it. Needs serious reconsideration. If it is trying to be a burn deck, it needs to have less incremental finishers. If it is trying to be a grindy deck, it needs better control and card selection. Shame, since I love grindy sacrifice decks more than anything and was really rooting for this one.
