Hi Guys!!
Welcome back to my channel. In today’s video, I share why my husband and I decided to go to the courthouse then and have our DREAM wedding months later. A lot went into our decision, and we were blessed to be able to have both. Postponing our wedding was something I never would have imagined but I love how everything turned out.
I know that many brides might have to postpone their wedding during this season due to the pandemic but I hope you stay encouraged and do whatever is best for you and makes you happy at the end of the day!❤️ Everyone's wedding day will be unique and special for them.

I create content to simply share my journey as I walk deeper in my purpose. Watch my journey as I strive to become the best version of myself. I have hit a few ( well a lot of stumbling blocks). Eventually, a light bulb went off and I realized that God has something specific in this earth that only I can do, so it was time to go after it. We couldn’t do the courthouse because of Covid so we had a zoom wedding at our house in January 2021.

This really had me tearing up. God is Faithful foreal. When you brought up the couple y’all had been talking to becoming the witnesses for y’all that warmed my heart so much because God really plans for the unseen in ways that are better than we can imagine. I just wanted to tell you Thank you! We have been planning for the last year and the wedding is next month! we’ve been soo stressed mentally and financially and i’ve just been needing a sign or video to lighten my heart and confirm that postponing my wedding and going to the courts is right. We’ve never felt so rushed and we came to the realization that we didn’t want to start our new life this way. I just needed the extra encouragement and I thank you so much and praise GOD for sending me this video i needed it!!!!!!!!!

It's truly a blessing that I came across your video! First thank you God but also thank you for being obedient, this has truly softened my heart toward a courthouse wedding and wedding wedding later. Thank you for this!!! This is definitely a testimony of obedience and favor. We got married last August, just the two of us and our Pastor and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. We are currently making last minute plans for our wedding in October and I can’t wait to be able to celebrate with family and friends. My fiancé and I will being getting married at the court house this week but we originally wanted to have our wedding November 2021. But my fiancé was the same way with wanting to just go to the court house; life is too short you know! I met my fiancé on IG TOO! We dated long distance (GA and me in California) for 1 year & now we’re engaged in year two, living in the same city. We’re going to have a small ceremony with our parents and kids, and then a wedding later. I’ve been struggling about postponing the wedding because of what “tradition” has been. But I know God led me here to see that being obedient is more important than anything. I can still do all the things I dreamed of later.

This video popped up suggested for me because my boyfriend and I have been struggling with the same decision. Even though pandemic restrictions are down, it seems like more and more people are still doing both the elopement and formal receptions later on. My fiancé and I are literally doing this! We’re actually getting married next Friday! We had originally planned to get Married in our backyard, then the landlord ended up putting the house on the market 😔 so we are going to the courthouse instead then planning for a big wedding with family next year! Me and my fiancé plan on getting married in the courthouse or city hall in two months and then having our big wedding next year and I am just wondering if you told your family and friends that you got married or if you waited until your actual wedding? Also, did you change your info on social media and your name right after the courthouse ceremony or did you wait till your actual wedding? I have been trying to figure out how to navigate this. Also what day do you count as your actual anniversary?

I’m super confused right now on what to do because I want to get married at the courthouse in two months but I won’t be able to have a wedding till 2024 because me and my fiancé are looking to buy a house first you think that’s too long to wait to have a wedding? Hey Marissa, Congrats on the engagement, sounds like a lot of great change is on the way. The one thing that I learned through the wedding process is that I had to do what is best and felt right for us. My biggest piece of advice is do what feels right in this very moment and you feel led to do, that is the number one thing to focus on. I recently went to the sweetest backyard wedding, It was small and intimate at an airbnb. I also just went to a wedding that the bride and groom waited 2 years to have the wedding. Saying all that to say go with what feels right for you guys and try not to go with what seems normal by societies standard. Hope this helps some! Congrats again!

Hey! Thanks for watching! Congrats on your union:) We sent out save the dates only to save money. It mentioned saved the date for the wedding of or union of ( our names), then we included the date, location, and website to RSVP. Honestly, it was very similar to a typical save the date. @@CourtsCarlos Hey Courtney! The ceremony was very similar to your typical ceremony. We didn't omit any parts from it and that felt right for us to do it that way. Hi Lisa! Great question. I didn’t wear a dress when I went to the courthouse. I did shop for a nice outfit and casual dress for the engagement shoot that we had prior to going to the courthouse. I did go shopping for wedding dress the wedding ceremony. I hope this helps☺️

My boyfriend and I are planning a short engagement then marriage! I get so much anxiety thinking of planning things in a time constraint let alone with the attention on him and myself. We're thinking about courthouse and having family there but my parents are divorced and haven't talked in years are with different partners and there's tension. Along with other factors im starting to not want family there and wait for the ceremony later for them but he wants family there especially his grandfather who is older. Are you glad you went with this route with no family? Or any other advice thank you!

Hi Hannah, Congrats on your engagement. At this moment we are still glad that we went that route. The moment felt very special and intimate and we had the opportunity to celebrate with everyone else a few months later. We had to have a lot of conversations about what to do, and what helped us was coming to a decision that truly made us happy and was essentially what we felt led to do. The biggest piece of advice that I would give you is to go the route that you both feel led to do, this is the start of your union so you want that day to still be special to both of you. Figure out what would make both of you the happiest. I hope this helps in some way, I am definitely here to help if you have more questions about my process.

Did you still have a bridal party or bachelorette party? My fiancé and I are both still living at home, however both of our parents are potentially moving in the next few months which means I may need to get an apartment. But we are toying with the idea of eloping, then moving in together, then having a celebration

My fiancé and I are planning to get the legal ceremony out of the way at the courthouse and then exchange our vows at a later date overseas (just us). when we send out our elopement announcement we are unsure how to word it, since 2 different dates and locations. any advice?

Congrats! You could say something like... We are excited to announce our union which will be made official at the courthouse on "xxxdate" followed by our elopement on "xxxdate". While we chose to go the intimate route, we both want you to know the value you add to our lives and union and look forward to your support in our marriage. or We are excited to announce our upcoming union. We have decided to have a ceremony at the courthouse on xxxdate and have a intimate ceremony to exchange our vows on xxdate. You will be with us in our hearts on both of these special days. We love you and appreciate the continued love and support. These are just rough drafts, I am sure there are some templates online that may help you. Hope this helps in some way and that you find the perfect to announce this exciting time to your family! Congrats again on your special union!!!

I’m in the same position. Considering courthouse and then big wedding later on. But I wanted to know isn’t it weird to have technically two different wedding dates? And did you have a bridal shower and bachelorette party because technically at that moment then you weren’t a bachelorette because you were already married? Just so confused on how that process of a normal wedding would go if we go to the courthouse first. Thanks

I have a couple questions so I would loveee if u reply ☹️💕 Do u celebrate your anniversary in your marriage date or wedding date? Did You let the public know that you guys were legally married ( for example change ur last name on Facebook)or did u keep it a secret and made everyone think that u got legally married on your wedding day. Because u guys lived together before the wedding , did it ruin the whole the whole thing wanting to live together after the wedding or did it feel more special already living together before the wedding??

Hey, these are really good questions! We celebrate both days, but differently. We look at the day we got married as our true anniversary, but still do something small on our wedding anniversary to celebrate. Our family and friends knew that we were married. I was tooooo excited to keep it to myself lol. When we got married, I was not actively using any social media. If I was at that time, I would do what felt most comfortable and best for me. Living together before the wedding felt so special. I would not have done this any other way. We viewed the day we got married as a very special day and the wedding as the day we got to celebrate our union with family as friends. Our wedding day was amazing and special to us. For us, it worked out really well. I am so grateful for how it turned out. I hope me sharing my experience helps you in some way! I hopeful that everything goes well for you. I hope that you find a way to have everything that you desire.💛

Hey Angie! We only did a save the date that mentioned the date, location, and when to RSVP. The wording was very similar to the usual save the date.
