At this scale, you could probably model feather textures into Dabchicks parts! Those resin printers have some absolutely bonkers resolution. It could be like how you went from original Bug Puppet to Reflector Bug Puppet.

A big part of Dabchick's charm, in my opinion at least, is his simplicity. Having a lot of special mechanisms is a fun engineering challenge and can offer much expression, but I hope in the end Dabchick's classic charm isn't lost in favor of those mechanisms! This is an excellent series! Been following it the whole way, can't wait to see where it leads!

I love Dabchick for his ragged and rough appearance, it fits his character very well. Even though he lacks in articulation compared to your other puppets, he is a million times more memorable and expressive because of this synergy of looks and personality. That said, poop chute would be hilarious though.

Two heads, one for travel, one for dancing(?) I still think when you introduce Dabchick 2.0 you could do a Frankenstein style video (you'll need a Jacob's ladder) where you transfer his soul from the old head to the new body and he wakes up happy and raring to go.

So when it comes the strength and brittleness of resin you should know that the properties can vary wildly. You can mix resins if you want. Also overcuring the resin makes it more brittle and since it uv cures you will need some paint or sunscreen to protect dab chick

Finally making great progress!!! You might look at using some SirayaTech Nylon-like resin for the fragile bits. It's extremely rugged but also has a bit of flex to it, so it can often hold up in scenarios like going into and out of your pocket much better than even metal would. Engineering resins are pretty cool stuff.

Just a thought but LTT has a metal 3d printer and known to collaborate on weirder or more intresting projects. Maybe you could hit them up and see if they could print dabchicks? Its certainly a video I would be interested in.

AAAAAAAH im so excited to see Dukey and you collab! When it comes to Dabchicks mechanisms - i think there is beauty in his simple mechanisms. He is still extremely expressive (that comes from you Barnaby!) and i feel like adding more would take away from his "identity". Still, anything thats fun for you as an artist/puppeteer is worth doing and its always great to experiment and develop old ideas

I do like the idea of dabchick having the folding wings, but beyond that I personally don't think he needs much more than he already has. From my own model building experience, I've learned that sometimes less is more. I can't wait to see him back in action. And with his new larger size, I'm sure he'll cause even more trouble

DUKEY! RU-vid is a wonderful place because you can find RU-vidrs that make you forget that there are thousands, or even millions of people watching along with you. It makes it all the more special when a few of those creators work together! In my head, you two are in two different worlds, or at least on two different sides of the same world, but it makes perfect sense that you would collaborate. So awesome to see another entry in this and a great update for the start of the year! I think adding some new mechanics to Dabchick is still a neat idea, because it can help even more emphasize to the character we all know and love. Although it is up to you what you think the final idea will be! Also, did anything come of sending the old printer back to the guy you bought it from?
