I agree. The keepsake box was another one of those nice ideas badly executed by maxis. It could also be a side building at the graveyard, a memorial maybe.
I do this for my family. 😊I seen it on a comment once and thought it's a great idea. I'm up to generation 4 now and have quite a collection of items in my museum
I’m surprised how well Dine Out runs now, I haven’t played the owning a restaurant part, in years but every time my sims go out. Food comes out fast. Severs clean up fast too. Hated when sims would steal peoples food back a few years ago, it was funny and annoying.
Thoughts on the keepsake box: it might not actually be empty, but rather no longer "designated". I accidentally moved without putting mine into Sim inventory and it seemed empty. I did a risky thing and temporarily aged one of my Sims to Elder to re-designate it, which fixed it. If you don't have an Elder Bigwallet at the moment, Waffle has a new mod called Anyone Can Designate Keepsakes that would allow Laird to re-designate it herself. I wasn't moving to or from an apartment when I had this issue, however, so my solution might not work for you. Best of luck!
I had to check the UI because I thought Laird got an offscreen SO or something...I petition to keep calling him Mister Abernathy because I thought it was so mannerly of Laird.
1 - Get with Glames. 2 - Keep the dance area as a common area. Its usually on the ground floor. Keep the apartments on the second floor, and ground floor being the landlord apartment and the common area.
Glames is the one for Laird. He has the best traits, gave her a rose even after getting a Snapdragon. The only reason Laird was unhappy after was because he one upped her and she doesn't like that. Plus, his name is Glames, pretty similar to the Bigwallet family creator/god/father 👀
Glames probably likes her, he just got a crappy gift, he still gave her a good one back with a sweet message, even after seing her giving two of his family members much better gifts. I feel its unfair to eliminate him already. The other two mcglorbin sisters didnt give a gift back, no sweet message. Glames and Laird has good compatability.
Oh man, the bugs. It's annoying enough for casual players, but when it's your means of supporting yourself, it's really gotta be frustrating. Kudos to James for still making it fun to watch!
At this point dont worry about the money bug with the restaurant. This pack is bad with all the bugs it is not worth trying to figure it all out. Espically with all the rent money you have not received as well.We know you did not mean to do it, so just let this one slide.
It's not just Dine Out that's buggy. I'm having exactly the same bug atm with my Get to Work retail store and I don't even own Dine Out. I think something is generally effed up with the money system in the Sims right now.
I love Glames. He is quiet and needs Laird to bring him out of his shell after him growing up with three sisters. This whole episode made me smile. Thank You!
I think Glames is the partner for Laird. He gave her a rose even though he hated the snapdragon. I think the lining No One is a bug. Plus his traits are top tier.
Don't count Glames out yet! He's just touchy after James was so rude about the starter flowers gift towards the beginning of the series. Laird can win him over. I have been shipping them since the beginning!
Glames is not romantic--instead of unflirty as a trait, he has that preference issue. So, he might be crazy about her, but he's not into romantic gestures.
I love the unintentional nods to the OG Lady Bigwallet. Alien romance, putting up paintings in the Emporium again... now all we need is a fire trapped under the roof and a disappearing gardener
@@VeraaVexxHaha, well I am pretty dedicated to my families so if the game is so messed up I can’t play, I tend to rage quit all together for weeks. Cause if I can’t access my families, I don’t care anymore about playing at all. But factoring in how much extra time it takes to setup and record lets plays, the fact that James has continued to try to continue the story around all the bugs is top tier dedication to content creation. I wouldn’t have blamed him for quitting and not touching For Rent again. 😅
I really like Glames, since his traits are great and he was dedicated to give something back to Laird even if he didn’t like her gift, I guess Glames is shy lovely man who can not properly express his feelings and that’s why he prefers to be alone but I believe he still deserves happy marriage! AND A DOG!! 🤭
Maybe you could go into an old save, before the Bigwallet Big Box got emptied, take everything out of it, save it as a room, put it in your current save and fill the box back up again? There were so many nice little memory things. It would really have been nice for that to actually work properly in the sims.
Dog lover & good? My vote is for Glames. Not liking a gift should not be a romance breaker. And he could always start wearing a top hat. His sister probably stole it from him anyway hahaha
Important to note that the Woohoo No One thing could be a bug from the last patch update. It was noted in their "E-patch update" later on that they have fix the Woohoo no one bug/glitch. So Glames is probably one of the many Sims affected by the glitch. I had that same glitch with my own Married Sims as well, which I am pretty sure their woohoo interest wasn't "No One" before the patch update.
I unironically enjoy these occasional episodes with a lot of "behind the scenes" work, it really gives you an idea about all the stuff that goes into making these episodes.
Despite all the bugs, I loved this episode, especially McGlorb Fest 2024. 😂 I also like the idea of keeping the warehouse bar/keg area with the paintings as a shared space, as a well as a way to honor the Bigwallet heritage set forth by Lady I (art gallery) and Anaya and Lacy (nightclub). Also, please give Glames a chance. I think he'd be perfect for Laird. He's just a little shy maybe.
At this point, the McGlorbins are as iconic as Krysta, def go for Glames, and keep the cool warehouse party room, as someone commented before keep it as a shared space. Or if you want more apartments move the cool warehouse to the basement.
At this point, just have fun with the series. Don't worry about having the exact amount of money, or the technical stuff. We know it's buggy and there isn't much you can do about that.
James, I would like to register that I started here because of The Sims and continue here because of you. I basically love seeing you play, even this buggy version of The Sims that we have now. BUT, if the Sims team doesn't fix the bugs, I'll see you play WHATEVER. You rock.
I vote definitely giving yourself (Laird) the money back from the building glitch. You have taken away money and generally been quite on par with it, so I think it's only fair to give back the money. + it would also be so fun to watch the emporium come together and Laird achieve her dreams faster. Personally, I am not really a fan of the McGlorbin's, but ever since seeing that dog lover trait on Glames, I'm Team Glames!
I figured out why they gave you the rose, they are regifting the rose! That should tell you something right there--look to someone else. Anyway, I figured out how to make Jacob (easier to remember than his last name) famous, he could cook on Simstube! He can use the drone to film himself cooking and upload it to the internet. He will be famous in no time. Especially if he likes to cook--then his fun will go up. Also, he could sell the food and make money that way. Oh, and I thought of something, you can create a studio for people to watch him cook and create a television show out of it. That could be the community space, and you can host an event by having the neighbors be the audience.
I like Glames 😂 I'm sad you wrote him off so soon. He was the first one to show interest lol. Also it might be fun to turn part of the third floor into a rooftop party situation In the back that way you can still keep the original roof line in the front of the building but you can still have your party space.
As a fun idea, the common areas should all pay homage to the previous uses of the emporium. So put in an art gallery, photography studio, bar & dance floor, Selvadorada display and a kitchen & dining area styled like Addison's restaurant.
Love the return of the Bigwallet Emporium! 😊 I am sorry you are getting all the bugs. I have blamed my old laptop for the lag and hiccups that made playing with 4 Rent frustrating, but you are still getting most of it, and you mentioned having a pretty powerful gaming pc with a top range GPU, so I guess it's not my soon-to-be-retired laptop's fault.
Glames for sure! He always seemed to seek out Laird for chats while she cooked in her home chef hustle days. Seems like a good guy. I love how the emporium is looking. Maybe that bottom floor space could be a shared space for awhile with, I dunno, ping pong, couches and bookcases, some maker space etc., and then once Laird has a family it could become part of her apartment? Then upstairs could be other units. Looking forward to skylights, sounds nice. But isn't owning the building you live in super buggy? Sorry the Sims 4 is such a pain lately.
Idk, I feel like Glames has always been sweet to Laird and the sisters have been very wishy-washy, so I'm team Glames. Maybe we need another bachelor and Laird should take them all on dates
To be completely honest, I wouldn’t waste time trying to fix “cheated” money when you already spend way more than you needed to when you first bought all of the other apartment buildings :)
I know not everyone loves watching building in the sims, but I do! It’s one of my favorite parts of the LPs. This build is so cool, not just bc it’s major Bigwallet lore but also that the inspo is coming from IRL. I’m always a fan of your creative style! Thank you for the content, and for enduring all the bugs. I’m sorry it’s so frustrating!!
I feel like Glames is the heart of gold Laird needs. He's got the best traits, and clearly feels awkward about receiving gifts (given he's romantic to no one (which other comments have pointed out could be a bug), but interested in physical affection). And they need to get a dog for him.
I say Glames, I really like him and his traits are good too! Also I think you should leave the bottom part of the new apartment building as a community space, like the dance area and maybe a kitchen and a bathroom, or turn it into all into a arcade type area.
Mr. Abernathy science baby, then marry a McGlorbin , and i think you should consider any "extra money" spent this ep as one of your tenants paying the back rent they owed on one of the units
Well, Lady had a The Bachelor episode, and here we are with Laird giving out flowers and gifts to find suitors! I love The Bigwallets, honestly you gotta appreciate that none of them are divorced. They all had happily married lives, despite the traincrash that were their flirting techniques 😂
I'm really not digging any of the McGlorbins. Maybe Glames, if I had to pick any for Laird. You could always create a "secret" basement area for Laird to have parties 💁🏼♀️
I'm only about 10mins into this video but I just want to say: James, I really commend you for your dedication to keeping this let's play going. I think everyone would have understood it you'd decided to just throw in the towel, but you keep trying to find new ways to make it work, and it's really encouraging to see.
I was so sad you removed the bumps outside. So much could've been done with these: bookcases, desks, sculptures, aquariums, storage, plants, art!! Now the walls are flat and the roofing makes it worse - why change so many walls outside but not the silly roof, especially since it was renovated? :{ EDIT: The front/your apartment doesn't look that bad, though I wish the upstairs actually had the shared space with, idk, ping pong tables or stuff like that? That tiny side space just looks sad 😭 I wouldn't even put a garden in there because there's no space!!
Agreed. The Emporium exterior is SO iconic, I was so sad that he did that. Hopefully he will go back and undo it. That building is hundreds of sim years old. A national landmark! It shouldn't be altered that much.
My vote is for Glames, because he has the best traits, and you have Amazing Compatibility, whereas the others are just good (besides Glenifer.) I also died laughing every time you said "McGlorbfest 2024"
"the game is paused, surely there'll be no bugs!" me, who's been having a bug where you can't close a buy a pack pop up, including when the game is paused, for the past month: O-O
The game, and a lot of mods, will sometimes take sims you've saved from the gallery to make them townies. It's not all that common, but it does happen.
You are awesome for trying to keep up with the bugs and still putting out content. Hats off to you! My computer would be in the street through the window.
Glenifer absolutely!! The best McGlorbin. Tophat for the win, and the kleptomaniac trait complements with Laird's snooping. They can break into apartments together, Laird can snoop and Glenifer can steal something.
I literally spent all of yesterday and a couple hours earlier today watching this series, so catching this episode 13 minutes after posting feels like a fitting way to end the weekend
JAAAAMES you've got 5000 aspiration points, get yourself a money tree! You need to money for this LP so makes sese to get it this time!!! Also my vote is persevere with Glames as your romantic interest :)
The emporium plan is great I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I remember seeing you build it for the original lady bigwallet in the get to work series!
I've kept a box of things I passed down to other generations of my sims and what I usually do when everything gets deleted, is go to an older save take everything out and put it all into a room, then save to my library so I can buy it back and cheat the money back to however it should be(rooms have a weird glitch of being worth less than the reselling value). Ps. I love the added touch that Lairds new bed is blue like her old bed and Mr Abernathy's is green too. For the love of god paint that dry wall in the party room.
Laird should have a science baby with Mr Abernathy since he is a part of this let’s play, and then that baby will be the main character in the next let’s play. After having a baby she can marry whoever just for sh*t and giggles
When you furnish the emporium you should do it inspired by an art studio. Or each apt is inspired by what it formerly was. An apartment that’s decorated from Salvadorada, one in a rainforest restaurant, one a night club, one an art studio…
