Over a decade ago, I did my bit for Kerala Cafe the first ever anthology film in malayalam. During those days, he expressed his gratitude for working on this film. He spoke genuinely and appreciated my efforts. A few days ago, the media reports almost tricked me into believing Ranjith has " lost it". And then I watch this interview. I am now convinced his critics have " lost it". I mean, this is perhaps one of the most insightful, transparent, laid back, blunt conversation where the man in question speaks candidly, thoughtfully and in no rush. The man is intact. In fact, he has gotten better, sharper and flowing like he should.

This inclination, in my view, contributes to societal issues. Instead of respecting diverse perspectives, we often criticize and shame individuals, attempting to impose our beliefs and inadvertently creating problems. Renjith highlights that, as social beings, we could benefit from simply listening and understanding others' points of view without feeling the need to respond aggressively. Unfortunately, our tendency to respond to everything, despite having a high literacy rate, hinders us from excelling in specific fields, as we invest considerable time in judging and correcting others. It is my hope that, as a community, we shift towards fostering love, dialogue, and collective upliftment, steering clear of harmful judgments to build a better society.

Very honest answers from Renjith in his typical nonchalant fashion. Great display of swag too. Yes cinema’s influence on people are minimal. No one will go and kill people after seeing a serial killer movie, unless he has a criminal mind. So what is being influenced is based on individuals. A great cinema can inspire people to reflect on what ‘insight’ the movie gave to the viewer. Still the viewer makes his own influence from it based on his personality.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching this interview. He exposed the basics of human weaknesses in his movies. He is able to explain why he did that without any frills and fear. Hats off to the team who made it happen.

Really interesting views of Ranjith. Only thing I would contradict with, is the fact that movies has the power to deeply influence the masses in psychological and socio political levels. If people tend to get inspired from movie Star's dialogue, outfits, mannerisms and Charisma, they would certainly be influenced by their deeds, thought process and behaviour. That's precisely why we often hear News about Drishyam model homicides. After the massive hit of Manirathnam's movie 'Bombay', there were a spike in intercaste marriages among Tamilians, as the movie helped in breaking all the stereotypes prevailed in the society back then and helped in reinforcing communal harmony. Undeniably, movies has the power to shape public perception.

Almost all of us had thought that love stories happen the way it is seen in movies. we have grown up thinking and believing this is how love happens.. we believe dthis is hiw i should react to this and that.. Being a teacher i can see the influence those love stories have on my teenage students. The influence media is so strong . it shapes how we act react behave in ways we dont even understand. strongly strongly disagree to the statement he is making.
