Our team traveled to Mumbai, India, to get the inside scoop on Dharavi, widely considered the largest slum in Asia. We met with the real people of Dharavi, the slum that inspired the movie, Slumdog Millionaire.
The opinions expressed in this video are those of individual interviewees alone and do not reflect the views of ASIAN BOSS or the general Indian population.

She’s very polite. That’s Asian culture. Western culture only thinks about $$$, no class. It’s a shame western culture has infiltrated the Asian society from colonization. I’d rather be a slum dog millionaire than a sellout millionaire. I got friends of all Asian cultures and their cultures all offer guests a drink and something to eat when you enter their house. Never get that kind of treatment in the homes of western culture. Asian pride baby, AZN Pride.

poverty isn't a shame but it's a crisis that no one wants to willingly go across. Ask me, what is poverty. I lived in it for most of life! By the grace of god and my hardships, i finally managed to uplift from it, a decade ago. poverty is a hell on earth. But, at the same time it gives u just so many life lessons, too. I am humbled by this video. There is a sense of loyalty to the community and shared struggle. Growing up with all my needs met (and currently having them met), one learns to be very self reliant and self focused-it is easy to be selfish and just focused on taking care of oneself and developing oneself. May the Lord help me give more to people that lack basic necessities and not just think of myself. I am humbled by the generosity and work ethic of these people.

I can’t tell if you are a troll or a crazy person. I admire the pride you have in your country, but there is nothing true in what you say. India is notorious for running scams. It’s actually a big problem with a difficult to prosecute solution as most of the victims of Indian scammers are overseas. And it’s funny your channel name is India Super Clean and has a photo of 5 naked Indian guys covered in mud. I see you commenting on many other videos bragging you have toilets everywhere and women are safe, yet India is famous for people going to the bathroom in the streets or “squat” toilets. And the safety of women, well, there are too many videos that say the sad truth of that. It needs to change.

The reason could also be that we have access to social media and therefore many informations. Social media often tells us we are imperfect or not good enough, and having the news talking constantly about clima change and war can be very hard. Especially because it affects us all. Also, school gets harder, you are forced to sit still for houers and binch learning all the subjects only to go home and have hours of homework to do. I think there is more behind all those unhappy kids. And then, we can't really generalise since not every wealthy child is unhappy and not every poor child is happy.
@clray123
@clray123 5 лет назад
That's because ignorance is bliss. Unhappiness comes from losing something or subjectively comparing yourself to others and feeling that loss. When you have nothing to lose, it's naturally not easy to become unhappy (except when you lose the only thing you have - your health or necessities such as heating/food/water).

@nevermind8064
@nevermind8064 5 лет назад
Batman farts The effort women put in for their families does not have any immediate relation to actual gender discrimination in Indian society (especially). It’s more like a result of it. To this day women are looked down upon, forced to give into the demands of her husband or family, and aren’t encouraged into high paying jobs and careers the same way men are. MANY people in india still behave this way, even out of the slums. If you truly believe that women speaking out on social inequalities is victimhood, then I’d like to hear you say that to any other protester, or even a black civil rights activist from the American 1950s. I don’t think you know what feminist means. These women from the slums are almost brainwashed in a way because they haven’t been taught sociology like those with a high education and couldn’t dare question those in charge. It’s very sad. A woman having to carry her family and income on her whole back does show the strength of women, but that doesn’t make them more of a feminist than a city woman who goes to her corporate job everyday.

Look how they first interviewed people on the street to see how "regular" indians see people from the slum, then you can figure out why she ask these questions in the first place; Not because she doesn't already know the answer, but to show indian society that no, they don't like living like that.

@@Findingsunshiness i do agree that there're probably other/more reasons for them to stay than to leave. But it still do not change the fact that the interviewer was asking immature questions and waiting for obvious answers. Who wouldn't want to move out from there correct? Who wouldn't want to have better life or provide healthy environment for their loved ones? It is all about privileges. And the interviewer could've point this out to bust stereotypes that some people live and chose to stay in the slump area because its convenient. From their perspectives, they live perfectly fine as long as they do not associating with bad people or doing bad things. And I thought so too. They do not need an outsider to tell them how bad their living environment is and why wouldn't they do something about it - because i believe that these poor souls know better and they are trying their best to make the most of what they have.

Just my observation from living in Asia that middle class people tend to have a discriminatory attitude to poor people ( like everywhere else tbh) but they are more openly discriminatory. It’s sort of a dehumanisation or seeing them as inferior. a lot of people have a self- survival self-preservation thinking even if they have money cause they are scared to lose it

They might be poor of money but they are rich of humanity. They got such a big heart and love their lives for the way it is. I think instead of pitying them, we should learn about life from them. They are such strong and awesome people.

I completely agree. I’m American and live in a big, beautiful house, I drive a nice car, have nice things, and get really anything I could ever want and I’m not nearly as happy as these people seem to be even in their circumstances. It seems that the more money one has the more unsatisfied they seem to be. Money brings greediness and makes us place so much value on things that aren’t important.

@Harshit Kapoor Indians are great people, my stepdad is Indian (born in US, but parents are from Punjab) and his family are some of the nicest, most welcoming people I’ve ever met. I’d like to visit India one day, beautiful culture and people 😊

People who are forced to live like that due to the inability or opportunity to generate a high enough income to change their life should not bring children into their world that have to endure this pathetic existence. I would be ashamed of myself, if I was dumb enough to make a baby when I lived in that environment.

That's a lie. The Indian culture is like this so they act like that. I know this because I live here. Most people are uneducated even if they attend school. Mostly everyone is unhappy here except for the wealthy. They just pretend to be happy because of the culture just like how Norway and Finland have high happiness. It's the culture the reality is different.
